Chocolate Chip Bread Pudding with Vanilla Sauce

Okay this is a splurge!! If you’re looking for something absolutely delicious………..this is it!! This bread pudding is out of this world! I made it for my family and everyone loved it!!

Chocolate Chip Bread Pudding with Vanilla Sauce

1 loaf round Hawaiin bread
1 stick butter (melted
1 1/2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
2 1/2 cups fat free half & half
1 cup sugar
6 large eggs
4 large egg yolks
2 T vanilla
1/4 tsp. ground cinnamon
1/8 tsp. ground nutmeg
1/8 tsp. salt

Cut bread into approximately 1 inch cubes. Rub 9×13 baking dish with butter. Toss bread cubes with melted butter. Add chocolate chips and toss again.

Place mixture in buttered baking dish. Whisk together half & half, sugar, eggs, egg yolks, vanilla, cinnamon, salt, and nutmeg. Pour over bead.

Allow to sit for 30 minutes (or cover and refrigerate for up to 1 day). Bake, uncovered, at 350 degrees for 50-60 minutes until nicely browned and set.

Serve warm with Vanilla Sauce (recipe below)

Vanilla Sauce

1/2 cup sugar
1 T flour
2 T butter
1/8 tsp. ground nutmeg
3 T brown sugar
1 large egg
1 1/4 cups heavy whipping crean
1 1/2 T vanilla

In medium saucepan, whisk together over medium heat, sugar, brown sugar, flour, egg, butter, cream, and nutmeg.

Stir constantly until slightly thickened. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla. Serve sauce warm over Chocolate Chip Bread Pudding.
