By His Wounds We Are Healed

Good morning friends!

Today I wanted to share about a wonderful ministry called, Refuge for Women.

The Refuge for Women is a twelve-month journey for women who wish

to leave the sex industry.

There is no charge to guests (women and their children) as they live and work together

as a family towards healing. During their time at The Refuge, women will develop and work

on a “Life Plan” – focusing on physical and emotional health, spiritual growth, education,

and life skills necessary for a stable and productive life.

In case you didn’t know, the sex industry is a billion dollar industry and

as far as I’m concerned it’s a very dark, and evil industry.

(Cindy, Business Director for Refuge for Women, Me, and Debbie)

The young lady on my right gave her testimony last night at our church.

Truthfully, it was a hard testimony to hear. I was shocked as she described the physical,

emotional and sexual abuse she has endured for most of her young life.

By the grace of God, she now knows Jesus Christ as her personal Savior.

She has been set free and knows that she is a child of the King!

For some reason, I feel the Lord is opening my eyes to the sex industry

and my need to get involved.

One way I’m trying to get involved is by raising awareness of the problem and supporting

organizations that are trying to make a difference.

I recently did a giveaway for Radiant Cosmetics.

Their dream is to set the captives free, one lipstick at a time.

How cool is it that, you can purchase makeup and help end human trafficking.

You can also get involved with the Refuge for Women. You can find more information

at their website or on their facebook page.

All morning I have thinking about Isaiah 53:5, But he was pierced for our transgressions,

he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him,

and by his wounds we are healed.

We ALL need healing don’t we?

Thanks for stopping by and have a blessed day!

  1. It is my understanding that Houston, TX (where I live) is one of the big human trafficking areas. It is heartbreaking. I applaud your efforts and obedience to the tug God has place on your heart to help.

  2. Bonnie thank you for sharing with me. I feel very strong that the Lord is leading me to help with the Refuge for Women. My heart breaks for the women and children affected by this evil industry.

P.S. I popped over to your blog and saw that you have recently lost your father-in-law. I’m very sorry. I lost my Mom in 2009 to gastric cancer and I know what you are feeling. The first few weeks and months are still a blur to me. I could never have gotten through it without Jesus! Praying you and your family will feel the love and comfort of Jesus during this difficult season.

  4. Becky, I can’t believe the stories from the women who have been a part of the sex industry. My heart breaks for them.
I can’t imagine living so close to the pornographic capitol! But believe me it’s here too.

  5. I felt the need to comment. I never knew about human trafficking until I started working for a division of the Sisters of Mercy. Our Shared Advocacy group have been working with hotels and airlines to get them on board to help stop this tragic business. I have learned more than I care to share about this. I just wanted to take a moment to thank you for spreading the word and doing what you can to stop such terrible treatment of human beings, especially children.

  6. That’s amazing….we live in the pornographic capitol here in Los Angeles – 90% of pornographic movies, etc. are filmed here. It’s horrifying to know that and yet feel like there isn’t anything you can really do. It has such a hold on so many lives and can tear up so many homes…I have a heavy heart for this area. It’s great to see there is a wonderful refuge for those women.

  7. Ukraine is one of the meccas for human trafficking; many of the aged-out orphans fall victim. What a blessing that God burdens and equips some to get in the trenches all over the world. I appreciate you taking the opportunity to share and give us information!
