What I Wore-My Style

Happy Hump Day friends! I’m sharing What I Wore-My Style today. It looks like from my picture below, I’m overly excited, um…not really. It’s never easy taking pictures of yourself.

This was my first day out after I had been sick last week. I think that’s why I look excited. I get cabin fever if I’m stuck inside for too long.

What I Wore

Black vest-I’ve had this a long time.
Long sleeve white shirtGap
Skinny jeans-TJ Maxx
Riding bootsAmazon

If you follow me on Instagram you know I spent the afternoon doing some research (I use that term lightly, is looking through fashion books really research?) for a talk I’m doing in a few weeks on Fashion & Faith. This is what I wore, not too interesting but it was comfortable.

What I Wore

My new chambray shirt-JC Penney (I wore my other one out!)
Gray sweater-Banana Republic
Black skinny jeans-Liverpool Jeans
Shoes-Target, Women’s Mad Love Lynn Canvas – Sliver Cloud Shoe.

Those Target shoes don’t look very cute in this picture. They’re not my usual style and maybe that’s the problem. Here’s a picture of them from Target-

What I WoreThese are some books I was looking through at Joseph Beth Bookstore. Notice Jessica Quirk from What I Wore said NEVER Sport a Muffin Top. 🙂 and because I know some of you will ask, she did say never wear flip flops (except for the salon and at the beach). Don’t get mad at me, she said it, not me!

What I Wore

Speaking of Jessica Quirk, I copied her outfit. Call me a copy cat! Of course, she’s young and absolutely adorable but I can still copy some of her clothes, right?

She purchased her scarf at Target, I ran (okay drove, but quickly) to Target to grab one!

What I Wore

Chambray Shirt-JC Penney
Jean Jacket-Gap
Scarf-Target
Black Skinny Jeans-Liverpool
Black Boots-TJ Maxx

I’m curious, I wear a lot of scarves. Do you all like wearing scarves? Or would you rather wear a statement necklace?

Beauty For the Heart~~Sometimes I worry too much and then I’m reminded of this verse, “Give your burdens to the Lord, and he will take care of you. He will not permit the godly to slip and fall.” Psalm 55:22

Have a blessed day!

  1. I am going to copy you too! 🙂 After I read your post, I went to Target and got the last scarf! It is beautiful. I absolutely love it and cannot wait to wear it!

Thank you for being such an inspiration with both fashion and God. You inspire me in many ways. Thank you for bringing joy to my day.

  2. Jessica Quirk has NOTHING on you! You are simply showing us how the outfit SHOULD look! I love that outfit and the perfect scarf on you. I’m glad you’re feeling better, I must have missed that you were sick. In that darling “first day out” picture, you look as though you’ve never felt better. Be blessed!

  3. You are just too cute! Your copy-cat outfit was dead on. I turned 50 in Sept and I certainly wear the skinny jeans and boots a lot. I don’t think there is really an age limit on them. I love scarves, but I love some bling as well.

  4. I love your blog and I love scarves. I started wearing them a few years ago. Turtlenecks were starting to look horrid on me. I think I have bought 10 scarves this year alone. I was just at Target and didn’t see this scarf. Maybe they are all gone already. I live just south of Chicago and I always wear a scarf in the winter. The sun was shining and it was a warm 26 degrees this afternoon. I only had to wear a fleece, not my winter coat.

  5. I think those grey shoes from Target are super cute- are they comfortable? I’m always looking for something cute to wear to work (I work in a school, so casual is okay).

  6. Thanks to your blog I LOVE scarves. I had a few but when I started following your posts I added to my collection. I go back and forth between scarves and necklaces. By the way, I now have a bubble necklace, thanks to you. Keep that advice coming friend, I enjoy it. God bless.

  7. Hi Cyndi.

You look great in your “copycat” outfit! The scarf is beautiful on you. I, personally, don’t think I can wear a scarf very well, so I prefer a necklace. The scarf seems to over power my frame or so it seems to me. From the front view, I like it, but when I turn to the side, it looks “strange.” Maybe it’s just me. Regardless, you look beautiful with scarves!

I hope you have a great day.

  8. goodness – i love that scarf from target. i have one animal print scarf but it is brown and black. i have many scarves and wear both them and statement necklaces all the time. they’re so much fun.

  9. Oh yeah Kerrye, I’m so glad that I’ve helped! I think there’s a confidence that comes with being 40 and beyond and we need to embrace it.
    Thanks for stopping by!

  10. I don’t like tight things on my neck either but love scarves. I often wear a v-neck shirt then a scarf not tight. It covers the v and still looks good.

  11. Love love love the look of scarves, but I feel awkward wearing them. It’s something about my neck… I outlawed turtlenecks from my closet a long time ago for the same reason. Need v-necks and open collars. But I should be able to wear a scarf, tied looser, right? For some reason scarves feel big and bulky around my neck. PS – I am learning SO much from you about how to put clothes together! At 43, I finally FINALLY like my clothes and feel like I have a real style. Thank you!

  12. Scarves look great on other people but not for me. I have a very short neck and can’t stand anything on my neck. So I don’t wear turtlenecks, mock turtles or even a t-shirt neck. I have to have a open v neck or I feel like I am closed in or choking. So I go for necklaces.

  13. I LOVE scarves! I actually got that exact scarf at Target a couple of months ago because I was looking for a scarf you had posted about on your blog! My target didn’t have yours, but it had that one so I got it instead. A scarf is the easiest way for me to pull a plain, otherwise boring, outfit together to look instantly more stylish. I live in OK where it gets incredibly hot and I dread not being able to wear them in the upcoming months.
Now, if I could just find some skinny jeans in black that I like!

  14. Hang on, I’ll be right back…..whew…just got back from Target…just kidding! But I am thinking I may have to make a run today…that scarf is too cute! I am starting to wear more scarves. I don’t know why I avoided the style for so long. But I also love a big ol’ statement necklace, too. It’s amazing how accessories can make your outfit! Have a wonderful weekend!

  15. I think I’m going to copy you copying her. That’s okay, right? Love the total outfit and I have the pieces already in my wardrobe – yay!

P.S. I have a picture of you and your haircut pinned to my Pinterest board. You always look great!

  16. How long ago did you find that scarf? I’ve been checking Target every time I’m in there (ever since I saw it on Jessica’s blog) and haven’t had any luck finding it!

  17. I love wearing scarves!! You have a great collection of scarves….love them all. I want to invest in a chambray shirt, is yours a mens or womens?

    Xoxo

  18. I love scarves and wear them a lot. They soften the neckline and hide signs of aging, I think. Their pops of color perk up any outfit. And I think you look better in that outfit than the original model.

  19. I have a ton of scarves and love wearing them. Your copy outfit looks great. I feel uncomfortable in skinny jeans, the boots I bought ended up tighter at the top than I wanted and my denim jacket makes me look like a linebacker! …..ohhhh, and I don’t own a chambray, but I am tempted to run to Target for that scarf! My choices are a mess! Love the grey shoes! And, the first outfit is so cute as well. That I might be able to pull off without a total overhaul!

  20. I love scarves and wear a lot of them. I’m starting to pick out more necklaces so that I can mix it up a bit… By the way you did a great job coping that outfit…..

  21. I have a lot of scarves, but don’t wear them as much as I should–I usually choose the necklace. I’m not sure why…. I LOVE your copycat outfit!! I don’t do skinny jeans but I have black trouser jeans and all the other parts (even a scarf that’s very similar). I’m older than both of you, but I’m going to copycat, too!! Thanks for sharing!

  22. I absolutely love to wear a scarf!! I dread summer when I’ll have to put my scarves away because it is too hot in Texas for them. What’s an alternative?
