Essential Oils-Lavender & Elevation

****I have switched to Young Living Oils,  you can find out why, here.

Today I’m continuing my How To Stay Healthy Over 40 series. Last week I shared about Solace, one of the essential oils I use. Today, I’m talking about two more essential oils I love and how I use them.

Hands down, sleep and the lack of, has been a huge problem for me. Everything I read says sleep is important for our health.

But for some reason when we hit our forties the majority of women say they wake up some time during the night and can’t go back to sleep. Three o’clock seems to be a magic number for most of us.

I have never taken prescription sleep aids because I was too scared of them. I did try over the counter sleep aids and they worked some of the time but I didn’t like taking them either.

Lavender essential oil has been my life saver (I use Young Living lavender oil now)! I absolutely love it and I use it every night before I go to bed.

Lavender is a natural sleep aid that helps to calm and relax. I put it on the bottom of my feet and use a drop on my pillow. It smells wonderful and I’ve slept so much better!

Lavender can be used for everything! When in doubt, use lavender. Burns, cuts, rashes, and the list goes on. This by far is my favorite oil!

This next oil is a great one too! Elevation is a blend of several oils ( I now use Joy by Young Living). I don’t go anywhere without this one, it stays in my purse.

Elevation is the perfect blend for those moments when you need to be revitalized. This oil can elevate your mood and increase your energy!

Elevation essential oil

I use this one on my wrists first thing in the morning. If I am tired during the day, I’ll apply it again. If I’m stressed or having a down day this is my go to oil!

Both of these oils are amazing! I don’t understand how an oil can help with sleep, anxiety, mood, energy etc. but I can tell you from experience they do work.

So how many of you struggle with sleep? What about anxiety & stress? What do you use to help with these issues?

  1. Me too! We are getting some much needed rest. Life has been hard lately but God is refreshing us.
Hope your school year is going good!!
    Blessings,
    Cyndi

  2. Keena I would say they’re strong but I think they smell good. They are highly concentrated so they will obviously smell. I don’t think putting them on the bottom of your feet would bother you but on your pillow it might.
    Hope that helps!
    Cyndi

  3. Liz I bought some roll on bottles for 25 cents a piece on Amazon and put my Lavender in that. I roll it on the bottom of my feet. I hope that helps!
    BLessings,
    Cyndi

  4. I was wondering also a so how strong the scent is, more because my hubby is very sensitive to smells. But he also is an insomniac so maybe it would work for him too!?

  5. Hello, I also use Lavendar oil myself, as you mentioned for so many different things! Also I use the oil Wintergreen for every little ache I might have.
You have a wonderful and refreshing Blog. I can feel the sweet Spirit of the Lord in the way you write and present the material. I enjoyed visiting!
    Blessings, Roxy

  6. Hi Cyndi, Wow!!! thank you so much for this tip!!! I’ve been struggling for months with waking up at 2:30 am and never getting back to sleep!!! I can’t wait to try lavender oil!!!

  7. Hi Cyndi. I sleep with a lavender sachet in my pillow case every night and love it. I am interested in ordering the Elevation essential oils. How do I order it from you so that you get credit for it? Do I just go directly to the link you posted? Thanks.

  8. I am going to try this Cyndi… Our lil one is soo anxious in the morning cause of school. We have a few essential oils and I love them! Will get lavender next!

  9. Good morning Cyndi. I have to agree with Tracey (above) about the timliness of this post. I have never had difficulty sleeping until recently. It seems as if 3:30 a.m. is my magic number! :-/ However, I’m wondering about the strength of the scent(s). I am very sensitive to some smells and many tend to give me a headache (I have to be very careful regarding candles, perfumes, lotions, (which contain essential oils), etc.). Are these oils very strong or are they just lightly scented? I’m sure if I put lavendar oil on my feet, it would be okay, but I’m just curious in case I want to try others. Thanks!

  10. Hi Cyndi! Do you put just a drop on the bottom of each foot….or how much? I would love to find something to help me sleep naturally. Sometimes at night I am so tired yet I can’t fall asleep but more often, like you, I awaken in the night and can’t go back to sleep. I feel like I see every hour on the clock! Ugh. Thanks for the tip on lavender. Sweet dreams!

  11. I also use Lavender oil on the bottom of my feet at night to help me sleep. It really works! I also found when I would get nervous, you could put a little on a small cloth or cotton ball and breathe it in to calm yourself. I started using essential oils several years ago when a friend was selling it. I haven’t used Elevation but that sounds good also.
