What I Wore-Year In Review 2013

Well, Christmas is over and I’m spending the day relaxing! I love staying home and spending most of the day in my pajamas!

This is my second full year of writing about fashion & beauty for women over 40 (I started blogging in 2009 but it’s changed over the last five years).

Most of the fashion blogs I follow are twenty or thirty something women. I love their blogs but I felt like there needed to be blogs for women my age.

We want to look fashionable. We’re not over the hill (whatever that is) but we don’t want to dress like our teenage or young adult daughters either.

I’ve learned a lot and I love sharing the latest trends and styles with you. I’ve had so much fun and I can’t believe how this blog has grown! I’m looking forward to 2014!

Today, I’m sharing What I Wore-Year in Review 2013. It’s a look at each month. All of my What I Wore posts can be found at the top of my blog. Click on Fashion and then What I Wore-My Style.

Looking back through these posts has made me miss summer! 🙂 I think June, July and August are my favorite months.

Which season is your favorite? Do you like winter or summer clothes the best?

Beauty For the Heart~~Here’s the deal: God wants everything you have got. Uncontested priority. Every egg in one basket. All your weight on one limb. This very moment He has His fingers gripped on your chin saying “Right here, Child. Look right here. Don’t look right or left. Stare straight into My face. I am your Deliverer. There is none like Me.”  –Beth Moore

Have a blessed day!

  1. Thank you so much for showing your outfits. Such a big help for people (like me). I pretty much stay in jeans year round. You have given me some great ideas!

  2. Hi Cyndi!
I just ran across your blog and love it! I just turned 40 and decided and I am tired of my stay-at-home Mom style. I love your style and am going to try to update mine. My 13 yr old is trying to help me too. I have a lot of LIFE IS GOOD shirts, that tend to make me look frumpy, if that makes any sense?
Well, Thank you. I will enjoy reading and seeing your fashions!
    Tiffany

  3. You are so sweet!! I’m so glad I got to meet you too! Maybe we will meet up again at another conference. That would be fun!!
Hope you have a wonderful New Year!!
    Cyndi

  4. Cyndi,
You are a beautiful person – internally + externally.

I enjoyed meeting you at the Haven conference (thanks to Becky from Organizing Made Fun) Plus, I’ve enjoyed reading your blog posts and getting to know you through your social media platforms. You are the kind of gal I’d like to hang out with!

Your tips are always helpful (false eyelashes, concealer, etc) and I forward to many more of your tips in 2014.

  5. Happy New Year Cyndi,
I loved the review of 2013 “What I Wore” pix. There were a couple outfits I must have missed along the years worth of posting and I enjoyed seeing them. Love your taste and style. You are always beautiful in everything you wear. You truly are “Walking in His Grace and Beauty”. May God continually bless you and your family in 2014 !

  6. Hi Cyndi.

I have to say that you look stunning in red! 🙂

I love fall the most. Shinny jeans, sweaters, boots or ballet flats. 🙂

I pray that 2014 will be amazing for you.

    Gina

  7. If I didn’t have the change of seasons, I know I would miss it. Right when I’m getting tired of one of them, a new one comes and that’s nice.
Hoping you get some cool weather!
    Cyndi

  8. Thank you for a wonderful blog, Cyndi! I enjoy it so much & it has made such a difference in my wardrobe!! You seem like a lovely person. My favorite seasons are fall & winter. Living in south Louisiana we don’t get a lot of cold weather but when we do I really enjoy it 🙂 Happy New Year to you & your family!

  9. I love spring and fall weather. I like the changes in seasons because it gives us an excuse to buy new clothes and try new styles. 🙂

  10. Well done Cyndi. I am in my early 50’s (ouch it hurts to say it) and I am always uplifted after I stop by your blog first thing in the morning. I like your practical and fun approach to fashion. I can also see that you have a great sense of humor and a heart for the Lord and so much compassion. I hope 2014 is a year full of blessings for you and your family. Thank you for creating a warm, encouraging and helpful blog.

  11. I found your blog a year ago when I was very sick with pneumonia and desperate to get my mind on something else. It was a very nice thing that came out of being sick!

Because of your blog, I’ve brought my chambray shirts out again to wear and have worn pearls with them and blazers over them which I had not done before! I’ve worn multiple bracelets at one time, ordered some new scarves, and looked at Pinterest for wardrobe ideas.

I’m 61, but I want to be fresh and current for my first-graders at school. I don’t want to try to dress just like the many teachers at my school who are my daughters ages, but I don’t want to be hopelessly out-of-date, either.

Thanks for your help and for always putting things into perspective with your Beauty for the Heart. Oh, yes, and fall has always been my favorite season! I love the colors and the jackets and the fun at school. 🙂

  12. Loved your recap of WIW, that is actually my favorite! I look forward to seeing what you wear so I can find some inspiration! I have added some great pieces to my wardrobe since I found your blog! Thank you for your Faithfulness to our Lord and Savior and sharing your belief with words, song, and letting us into your life! Your family picture is awesome! May you and yours have an amazing 2014! I know I’m looking forward to the new year and some changes I’m looking forward to in my life! Happy New Year!

  13. Hi Cyndi! I love seeing your “year in review!” I’m a summer girl too. I love the heat, but oddly enough, I like my winter wardrobe better than my summer one:) I loved looking at each of your months at once and picking the outfit that stood out the most to me and then thought if I had things to make a similar look from my own wardrobe… It’s a jammy day for me to… can you tell? Thank you for your great blog! Krista

  14. Hi Cyndi,

Love your blog and look forward to 2014. I think that you are a beautiful lady inside and outside.
Thank you for sharing and being real.
God bless you and your family in the new year.
    Tammy

  15. Living in humid, perpetually-summer South Florida – I adore winter. We don’t get much cold weather here but when we do – it is exhilarating to me. I enjoy wearing sweaters and boots at such times. I’m a native Floridian and would do almost anything to live where there are seasons.

  16. Hey Cyndi. Merry Christmas and happy new year. Hope you had a blessed Christmas. Looking forward to seeing new looks in 2014. I love the change of seasons. Positive/negatives to all of them :-).

  17. I just found your blog last month, and I have really enjoyed reading it. I am in my late 40’s and have never been very good (or interested) at putting together outfits or using cosmetics, but have been feeling the need this year to change that. Thanks for sharing your ideas and outfits. I like cold weather clothing, sweaters and layering are my favorites.

  18. Isn’t it nice to have a day now and then to lounge and relax?! We all need that from time to time. Wow that’s a lot of outfits. The year has really passed by quickly! My favorite time of year is cooler weather. I love sweaters and boots and the coziness that comes with the season. But then it’s always nice to look forward to Spring! God knew we needed all the seasons and each has its purpose and time. I look forward to 2014 and hope it brings great things! This has been about the toughest year for me in many ways but mostly health-wise. So I’m looking forward to a new and fresh year!
