6 Beauty Tips To Do In Your 20s and 30s

6 Beauty Tips To Do In Your 20s and 30s

So I was recently asked by a thirty something year old, what she should be doing now to prepare for her forties and beyond?

I thought it was a great question and I know I have some younger readers (you are dear to me!) so here is a list of 6 beauty tips you should be doing now.

Trust me, when I say I’ve got some experience here!

1. Stay out of the sun!! I know we all love to be tan but let me tell you a little secret, you WILL pay for it later.

I now have some wrinkles and sun spots that are showing up because of those hours I baked in the sun. Certainly a little vitamin D is nice but use your sunscreen and don’t let yourself burn.

Here’s the tanning lotion I use~~

2. Use good skin care products. Notice I didn’t say expensive. There are some great products you can use that don’t cost a fortune and can be found at your local drugstore.

While it’s too soon to freak out, it’s not too soon to start taking care of your skin and start slowly using some anti-aging products on the market.

Cleanse skin each morning and make sure to remove your makeup before going to bed.  This allows skin to perform its essential protective and renewal functions while your sleeping.

Here are some skin care products that really work!

3. Don’t forget your neck! We might be good at using our skin care products on our face but we sometimes forget the neck or décolletage area. As we age our skin loses the elasticity that it had in our younger years, and this causes it to become loose and appear saggy.

I love pointing out my flaws but notice my neck area. It’s the part that’s aging the quickest on my face area.

So lather up that neck with some good anti-aging moisturizer! You’ll thank me some day!

4. Moisturize your body-We’ve talked about your face and neck but after you turn 40, your skin loses moisture. To help prepare for this go ahead and moisturize your arms, legs, etc. now.

It only takes a few minutes after you hop out of the shower but it will help your skin to look better as you age. I promise.

5. Exfoliate your skin-I didn’t do this when I was younger like I do know. But exfoliating your face and body removes dead skin cells and  helps the anti-aging products work better because they do not have to work their way through dead skin cells. Make sense?

There are plenty of scrubs to buy over the counter or you can make your own with coconut oil and sugar. It’s best to do this a couple of times a week.

6. Don’t compare yourself to others-You’re made in the image of God (Gen.1:27). Your beauty does not begin on the outside, it begins on the inside.

There’s no one else in the world just like you and you are a treasure!

1 Peter 3:4 says, Instead, your beauty comes from inside you. It is the beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit. Beauty like that doesn’t fade away. God places great value on it.

If you want beauty that doesn’t fade begin filling your mind with things of eternal value and your beauty will shine!

So how are you doing with these beauty tips? Are you doing all of them?

If you know someone in their 20s or 30s, I’d love for you to share this post with them! Thank you!

Have a blessed day!

  1. If you want Spanish learning materials, new furniture for the den, out-of-print books, all you have to
do is look online. With no previous knowledge or experience about someone and
something on Earth, the real readers with Reliable Cold Readings are ale to
unravel lots of hidden facts and events. Thus,
learning does not occur if there is no change in the amount of knowledge even for a long time, and learning is negative if
the amount of knowledge is decreasing in time.

  2. Wow, what a great post. I was not expecting #6 but it was refreshing to read. Thanks so much for the tips and the reminder for where true beauty comes from.

  3. Great tips!!! I also make sure to tell the younger ladies to always apply sunscreen to the backs of your hands…..one of the first noticeable places for sun damage spots. You don’t realize how much sun this area gets while driving your car…..so keep sunscreen at all times in your car to reapply. LOVE your blog Cyndi!!!

  4. Thanks so much for this post! I turned 22 not that long ago and I’m realizing I need to get in gear and take care of myself properly! I really appreciate all your suggestions.
    Have a blessed day!

  5. Because I run in a world of people much younger than I, I encourage the girls to start using eye cream in their late 20’s. I started in my early 30’s and wish I had started earlier. Just some extra moisture. I’m with you, it doesn’t have to be pricey!

After YEARS of using Oil of Olay moisturizer, they have changed things so much I get confused when buying. I tried that Neutrogena moisturizer you recommended up there and love it. There’s usually a coupon in the paper and their products go on sale often at Target.

  6. Great post! Use sunglasses to stop squinting! I would also add eat well, lots of vitaman C which builds collagen AND exercise. Studies now prove it stimulates collagen and elastin production.. Swimming helps too as dilute chlorine has anti-aging properties.
I did it all as best i could, but have a pool, love water sports and used to go to Mexico ALOT, so not perfect. My mother was a stickler for staying out of the sun and always used the pics of a beautiful friend to make her point. Beautiful outside when young, but a sun worshiper. When older, very leathery! Look up the pic of the woman who aged on one side of her face from driving long-distance. Only the side exposed to the sun aged.

  7. Well I am 20+30+ and your tips are spot on.I have black hair(+grey) and very fair skin which only burns peels and get’s whither.I learned very early on to stay out of the sun and use sunscreen.

Then in my late teens I got skin cancer I was very lucky I caught it right away and am fine now.

I live in Wisconsin and I even wear sunscreen in winter.I have been using face and neck cream since 13.

One other tip which you have mentioned before…

Drink lots of water.Great post Love it.

  8. Lots of great points!
No. 7 is wonderful and happy to see that on your list.
Having had skin cancer, STAY OUT OF THE SUN.
Also, drink LOTS of water. It does make your skin look healthy.

  9. Hi Cyndi…I’m 51 and as a teen on up I loved the sun and didn’t protect my skin like I should. I’m so happy my daugher (age 24) isn’t a sun lover like I was…she has beautiful clear skin. I wish someone would have told me to stay out of the sun and what the effects would be…Love your website, such great advice!

  10. Hi Cyndi.

What a great post! I’m from the south and from a generation where we thought being super tan was the thing to do. I was laying out in the son from 11 on, sad to say. To make it worse, I used tanning beds for almost 18 years as well, so I am paying the price with my aging skin. I hope to keep my daughter from following in my footsteps. I haven’t been in the sun very much in almost 5 years. I hope the 20-30 year olds will take your advice and keep their skin beautiful! 🙂

    Have a great week.
    Gina

  11. These are great and I do hope your 20-30 year olds listen. When we are in that age, we are so busy with young marriages, careers and/or children and do not take the time to care for our skin. It is hard at that age to believe we will ever be anything but young….sigh…=0)
Also, thank you for always always reminding all women that it is what God is doing INSIDE of us that makes us truly beautiful in His sight!

  12. These are great tips. Ever since I was very young my mom said stay out of the sun and wear sunscreen. In college I was covered in sunscreen, would wear the biggest hat and hang out under an umbrella to stay out of the sun. My friends then all joked and thought I was crazy but now they tell me I had the right idea and they wished they didn’t tan. As much as I would love to be tan it is not worth it.
