Sunday Encouragement-Is It Enough?

When I started this blog in 2009, I had no idea what I was doing. I’ve made several changes over the last five years but one thing has remained consistent, I’ve always wanted to share my faith.

I’ve often wondered if it looks like I think more about fashion & makeup than I do about my relationship with Christ. Is sharing a verse or a quote at the end of my post enough? I’ve actually been praying about this very thing.

This week, I received an email from someone who was looking for makeup tips for women over 40. She emailed me and said she got more than makeup tips and was thankful I was sharing my faith. She also said, one of the verses I shared had helped her.

I wondered if this might be my answer to my prayer? Is sharing a verse, a quote, a Sunday encouragement enough?

Hebrews 4:12 says, “For the word of God is living and effective and sharper than any double-edged sword, penetrating as far as the separation of soul and spirit, joints and marrow. It is able to judge the ideas and thoughts of the heart.”

I don’t believe I have to shout about my faith, or beat someone over the head with a Bible. God can use something as crazy as a fashion blog to change lives. It’s not about me, it’s all about Him.

I hope and pray that anyone reading my blog knows, Jesus isn’t a small part of my life, He is my life!

Sunday Encouragement-Is It Enough?

I want to always proclaim His name!

Have a blessed day!

  1. Cyndi, I think you do a great job expressing yourself and making it very clear that God is the center of your life. That is why I love coming back to your blog each day. You are who you are which is a beautiful person both inside and out.

  2. I think you are hearing the answer to your prayer in all of these comments, Cyndi.
I also delight in your daily verses.
Blessings and praising Him with you!
    Ruth

  3. I think you’re right about your hearts. I have some of the sweetest readers and I am so blessed by each of you!!
    Praising Him Always,
    Cyndi

  4. Wow that’s so true Gloria! You said it perfectly, what’s on the inside is the most important thing.
    Praising Him Always,
    Cyndi

  5. Thank you so much for sharing this Erika! I try to keep them short because I know everyone is busy. I sometimes wish I looked more like some of the “high end” fashion bloggers but that’s not me and I’m finding a lot women like it because I’m “normal”. 🙂
    Thanks again,
    Cyndi

  6. Cyndi, as the only girl in an office of men, who has very little outside interaction, I love your blog for ALL your tips both faith and fashion wise. No one who actually reads your blog would ever say you put fashion first……I love all the comments and they all said it far better than I. You do what the Lord leads you to do and keep on helping us improve both on the inside and the outside! Thank you, from a female deprived fan!

  7. Your blog is one of my two go to blogs. I originally started reading because of the fashion tips but love the Beauty for the Heart tips. I have shared your blog with other friends and now it is one of their favorites to.

  8. Oh, Cyndi! Have you read “A Million Little Ways” by Emily Freeman? It’s so encouraging for those of us that want to show His glory in whatever it is we’re doing — we’re “image bearers” after all! And you are just that… in every verse or makeup tip you share here. Blessings, my friend!

  9. I enjoy your blog so much! I think you encourage us to be both beautiful inside and out….moreover, I think your fashion sense…helps other believers to dress the outside in way that draws others to the heart of where their “inner beauty” comes from!
As a change of pace, maybe sometime, you could have a week of “inner beauty” challenges…you could have your readers share what makes them inwardly beautiful to!
I look forward to reading your blog every day!! and when you shared the story of your family’s challenge this past year, it made me love it even more!
    Thank you!!
    p.s. GO WILDCATS!!

  10. You’re doing a wonderful job! Anyone who reads your blog often enough KNOWS where your heart is–and I suspect because OUR hearts are in the same place!! 😀 Keep it up!

  11. Ditto to what the other gals said! I’ll add I told my husband about your blog and how uplifting and encouraging it has been for me .., reminding me how important it is to hang out with faithful friends …

  12. I think we all agree that it’s your inner beauty that shines through. You can put a girl in an inexpensive outfit from WalMart; and, if she is beautiful on the inside, she will be beautiful on the outside. We are the temple of God; therefore, I think He wants to reside in a place that is healthy and beautiful.

  13. Beauty and Fashion Tips can be found almost anywhere these days ~but helping women find inter-beauty and sharing your faith in Christ is what attracted me to your blog. So many times I felt that you knew what I needed. Makeup and nice clothes don’t do the trick if you don’t feel good about yourself inside.

  14. LIke so many other people here, I started reading your blog for the fashion over 40 just a few months ago. The things that keep me hooked on your blog are the Bible verses, music, and stories of your faith in Christ. There is no doubt that your faith shines through to others. Thanks for your willingness to share that part of your life here.

  15. I love your Beauty for the Heart and appreciate your witness. Here’s a thought since you asked and since it’s been on your mind: perhaps sometimes the Lord might lay something on your heart “extra” to share. If He does, go with it. You have been given affirmation that what you’ve shared has been helpful to many, so who knows who might need that little extra sometimes. Keep yourself open to those times would be my advice for what it’s worth. For instance I enjoy seeing pins from Pinterest, but sometimes that might be a good time to also mention an attribute of Christ that’s worth “copying”. Just a thought! He often challenges us to not settle for good but to reach higher with Him. God bless you!

  16. May the Lord bless you and keep you Cyndi! I know He is blessed by your faithfulness to share His love with others.

  17. I appreciate that you “keep it real” and stand for what you believe in. I always love how you tie in scripture with your posts. May God’s blessings be rich in your life.

  18. Cyndi,
I want you to know that I have visited a lot of fashion and beauty blogs but never subscribed to one until I found yours. I try a lot of the products you recommend and the fashion tips too. You are one of the most “real” fashion and beauty bloggers I’ve ever seen. Your posts are personal and honest but also quick and to the point which is important in my busy life. And scripture or quote you share at the end of each post is something I can take with me throughout the day or week. Please don’t change a thing…God doesn’t make mistakes and He made you just how he wants you!

  19. Well, let me start off by saying that I really look forward to reading your daily verses. Lately I have been needing more in my life as far as inspiration and with your blogs I have been inspired. My faith is everything to me and to read His words is wonderful! Thank you!

  20. thank you. I am also able to share your daily verses. it is always so appropriate to my own life and someone that I care about is also getting your encouraging words from HIM.

  21. Cyndi- I agree with the other posts, you make is clear that Jesus is the reason, & the center of your life. I think you do a great job of sharing that. Fashion & makeup is obviously something you love and enjoy helping others with too. But I never doubted whats most important to you. Your blog is a great way to reach others…you are a blessing to many. Thank you for proclaiming the name of Jesus and not being afraid to stand for truth. God bless you sweet lady 🙂

  22. I think you do amazing with just that. You aren’t shouting it, it’s coming off as just who you are, a part of your life. I think you do it wonderfully. And thank you for doing it! 🙂

  23. Cyndi,
While I only discovered your blog a few months ago, I’ve always understood that God was your primary focus. It’s one of the reasons I always come back! 🙂 As for witnessing, I’ve always liked this quote: “Live in such a way that people who know you but don’t know Christ will want to know Christ because they know you.” I think that is very true about you. So don’t worry–your Light shines through your blog. Have a very happy Sunday!
