Sunless Tanning

As most of you know I use sunless tanning products instead of baking in the sun for hours to get a good tan. A few weeks ago I posted about my favorite self tanner which is Sun Labs.

Sunless Tanning

I also shared about TanWise dark bronzing sunless mousse, and how I felt it gave me a “dirty” tan look. It was too dark for me.

One of my readers shared that she used it but added lotion and that made the tan look better. I had one of those “duh” moments. Why didn’t I think of that?

So I mixed the TanWise with some body lotion and it works perfectly! I love the way it feels and looks. I used TimeWise in this picture.

You can purchase TanWise dark bronzing sunless mousse at Sally Beauty Supply for $12.99 or you can order in online here.

Have you tried TimeWise? What are you using right now?

Beauty For the Heart~~2 Timothy 1:7 has been a verse I’ve read for many years. It reminds me of the power I have with Christ.

For God did not give us a spirit of timidity (of cowardice, of craven and cringing and fawning fear), but [He has given us a spirit] of power and of love and of calm and well-balanced mind and discipline and self-control.

Have a blessed day!

  1. I just started using this brand about a month ago. I’ve always mixed tanners with lotion because I’m not the best applier! I like this one because it doesn’t smell after the first five minutes and the tan’s a medium tan.

  2. Dear Cyndi, Ever since my husband lost his job 3 years ago, the Bible verse he recites to himself daily and has posted in a couple of places throughout our house is 2 Timothy 1:7. He was let go of his job of 24 years as an ad agency executive in a very unfair and contrived way. He said this verse has helped him deal with his anger, and the fear that has come from an unsuccessful job search. There isn’t much call for 60 yr. old ad executives. Yet, he perseveres.

  3. Just last week, my sister recommended the St. Tropez mousse with the mitt. She is a self-tanner fanatic and has been for years! She said it is the best self-tanner she has ever used! She did say it cost a bit more than other, but also said it only takes a little bit to a nice all over golden tan color. She claims there is no smell whatsoever. The best part is, it doesn’t rub off and doesn’t get on her sheets or clothing. I’ve always been a bit hesitant about self-tanners, but I may have to try this one.

  4. I just started using St Tropez mousse and love it! Yes, it is more expensive, but the tan is immediate and very natural looking. I bought the mitt that goes with it. The trick is using downward strokes for smooth application. The scent is also very faint compared to most others.

  5. Does the tanner rub off on your towel or clothes as you are wearing it? How long does it last and how often do you reapply?

  6. I too love Jergens foam! After extensively trying many brands, I use it every spring & summer now.

  7. An application video would be great Cyndi!!! I’ve used Syn Labs and like it. I’ll try the one you recommend on this post next. Do the video please !!! 🙂

  8. My daughter told me she uses Jergen’s Sublime Bronze so I tried it and really liked it. I had used the Jergen’s Daily product and didn’t like the smell. The Sublime product did not have the smell that the others have. If you get the self tanner in places where it shouldn’t be (between fingers) I read that using toothpaste can be used to get rid of the staining.

  9. I like Tanwise and Sunlabs both. I have been applying self- tanner mixed with lotion for quite awhile because it seems to create a more subtle, natural look. And I took your advice about applying it with plastic gloves to avoid stained palms. Then I put on hand lotion and use a cotton ball to apply the tanner to the top of my hands so I don’t have an obvious line at my wrists!

  10. I bought my 15 year old daughter some of the Sun Labs Self Tanner and she loves it. She is very fair and she has received so many compliments on her tan. I am not ready to start letting her lay in a tanning bed and I would only allow her to for prom and that will be a few more years. Thanks for the advice. I wish I could get me hair and makeup to look and good as yours. I have short hair and I have decided to let it grow a little. We will see how long I can stand it. Love your daily posts and the uplifting comments 🙂

  11. I used Tanwise and I mixed with lotion but I just don’t like the smell. It’s not as bad as other tanners I have used but I can still smell it and feel like everyone else can smell it, too!
I shaved first, used a scrub to get my skin smoother and then applied the lotion with a make-up type sponge and wore gloves.
I was happy with the color but it also makes my “wisdom spots” darker so I haven’t decided if I will use it again.
I just turned 51 and I really miss my 30 year old skin! 🙂

  12. I really like this product! And I do mix it with a lotion. Thanks for helping! I just hate how it stains the hands.

  13. I put on Jergens Firming Daily Moisturizing in a cream form today, so we’ll see! I applied it with oval quitled disposable pads I picked up at the dollar store….Trying this since I’ve seen so many expensive brands use a mitt to apply… It did allow for a more even application. Will post comment in a few days and let you know how it’s working..

  14. Your tan looks great! I am always have such a hard time with my knees, ankles and elbows that I am nervous to even try my neck and face. Like the other ladies, I am also curious how do you mix and do you apply with your hand or use a mitt?

  15. I’ve tried many of the expensive sunless tanners like Lancome and Estee Lauder. My go to is JERGENS® Natural Glow® Foaming Daily Moisturizer. It’s gradual and takes several days to show up but is almost fool proof. Especially if you use the fair to medium shade. The foaming which is a mousse dries quickly. I was always skeptical about a drug store brand, but have been using this for years and love it. And if you have trouble with your knees and ankles, put lotion on those spots before applying the self tanner. I sometimes put lotion on those spots right after also.

  16. Do you put this on your face and arms? I am hesitant to use tanners on my face since it gets some sun naturally as do my arms. I mainly use it on my legs. Yours does look good.

  17. I can never get any sunless tanner to go on correctly; it only shows up on my knees and ankles in streaks. Since I am so fair with skin that doesn’t tan, many of tanners don’t show up.

  18. I agree – how do you “mix” these two products?

I do think the mousse tans work a little better than the mists, but still some patchy areas.
    Thanks for any pointers!

  19. Your tan always looks so natural. How do you to it? I have issues with my knees and ankle area. I am not brave enough to try all over. I am scared I will look funny. LOL
Do you have any pointers for application? I read Maskcara’s post and I don’t always get the same result. First application usually looks OK, but second week reapplication doesn’t look natural. HELP! Maybe you should do a video and show us your secrets for application.
Thanks! I love your blog! Beauty for the heart is my fav!
