Summer Fashion-Day 31!!!!

Well, it’s Day 31 of my 31 Days of Summer Fashion! Where did this month go? It’s been a fun month but I’m always ready for some change and I can’t wait to start gearing up for fall trends.

You would think I’d save the best for last but I’m actually sharing some outfits that I didn’t love. This dress is from Stitch Fix and I thought I liked it, but after taking pictures, I’m not in love with it. It’s a little snug.

I couldn’t decide if I liked the necklace with this outfit. Here’s the outfit with the necklace.

This is kind of plain but it’s comfortable and I wore  it to run errands.

I usually do 31 days in October so it looks like it’s going to be 31 days of fall and winter fashion. 🙂 Thank you all for being so kind and thank you for telling your friends and family about my blog. I’m glad there’s a need for fashion for women over 40!

Have a blessed day!

  1. Hi Cyndi, I’m 29 and I’ve been following you for at least a year or two. I love your style and look to your for inspiration that I know will be modest too!

  2. Cyndi, I have to say, just like everyone else, that dress is THE most flattering outfit I’ve seen on you and you do have a beautiful figure that this dress tastefully shows. I wonder if the seams of the top could be let out just a little to make it more comfortable for you?

  3. The dress is GREAT – and definitely NOT TOO SNUG! It’s perfect. I like the outfit WITH the necklace too.

  4. I agree with you that the dress is too snug. Just a smidge, but too snug nonetheless. It pulls at the bust, and in the waist/abdomen area, there are visible undergarment lines. I’m sure there are some women who do not mind these things, but I think you are a person who cares about the cut and drape of clothing, and who prefers a classy fit to your clothing. If the dress were 1/2 size larger (or you were 1/2 size smaller, lol) it would be wonderful. It’s a very attractive dress, and the colors look great on you, but the fit is just that bitty smidge off the mark.

  5. Cyndi, I just have to tell you what an inspiration your blog is to me. I love that I can share the love of The Lord as well as fashion here. I’m not quite 40, but I love all the outfits! Keep up the good work:-). For the record, I thought the first dress looked amazing on you, but you have to be comfortable. I like the necklace with the top.

  6. Love this dress on you, it fits your small/petite proportions. I think you always look very put together, but I do have one little suggestion. Proportions seem a bit off on some of your combinations. Often times they seem like they are a size too large. You are so adorable and petite! I think paying a bit more attention to proportions is key for you. You are stylish, wear great pieces and colors but the proportions are off some of the time.

  7. Agree with Tanya and some of the other readers that the first outfit/dress looks adorable on you and in fact has a flattering fit……..it’s probably been my favorite outfit of July. Like you I struggle with how fitted an outfit should be and am constantly told by my daughters and husband that I’m buying my clothes one or two sizes too big. I agree with Tanya that a fitted outfit can still be conservative. I like the necklace with outfit 2. Love the beauty from the heart comments daily.

  8. Cyndi- I agree too. That dress looks great on you! :-). One of my favorites from the month. And I like the second outfit with a necklace . Thanks for posting 31 days straight. I’m sure it was a little tiring at times 😉 we all appreciate it. I can’t believe is August already. The summer has flown by. God bless and have a superb day…ohhhh The Beauty for the Heart is great…one of my favorites too !

  9. Thanks for sharing and for all the work you put into your Summer Fashion series. Such cute outfits! Love your site!!

  10. Thank you for the 31 days of summer fashion. It must have been quite a challenge but you did it with variety and always tasteful but fun style. I appreciate your blog for the fashion and Beauty from the Heart. I also appreciate your humor and the way you share your heart for God and your family. May God continue to bless you for sharing his love!

  11. I LOVE that dress on you! I’m crazy about the cute fit and flare dresses I’m seeing everywhere and this one is so cute!! I’ll buy it from you if you don’t want to keep it! 🙂 Looking forward to 31 days in October… by then I’ll be ready for boots and sweaters.

  12. While the dress looks great, I know what you mean. I had a dress that I wore one Easter that was a bit too snug in the waist, and while it looked fine on me, the problem was when I sat down it just got more snug around the waist. It had a side zipper and no give at all in the waist. So now when I try clothes on I try to sit down to see how it feels. I still have my snug dress but have not worn it again Maybe if I lose a few pounds I’ll give it another try. Love your blog!

  13. I think the dress looks great on you and very flattering, the fit as well as the colors. And I definitely prefer the second outfit with the necklace–Looks good with that top. Thanks for the 31 days!

  14. I honestly think that dress looks AMAZING on you! It’s super flattering and I love the purse you put with it! If you’re uncomfortable obviously it won’t work but it’s gorgeous on you!

  15. I also love that first dress Cyndi. It’s very nice on you.
Thanks for the 31 days. A lot of work for you, but fun for us to come and visit.

  16. Cyndi,,,, honestly that dress is awesome! And I don’t think the top is tight at all! I would have done anything to find that dress for my daughters college graduation this spring ! It’s perfect! Also , that top fits….you, not totally loose like mist things you like to wear. It’s not like it’s low cut in anyway!!!! I look at your outfits and can’t believe you are younger than I am because you wear older looking clothes. Maybe that’s a north verses south thing. I get that you are a ministers wife but God blessed you with a cute shape , it’s ok to wear clothes that. “Fit ” not just “float”. Love your blog….my absolute fav!!!

  17. Well I love all the outfits so if they aren’t “your” favorite, you can send them my way…LOL I, like others, think the dress looks nice on you, BUT we can’t “feel” it and if you think it feels snug, then you will be self-conscious wearing it. I like the necklace with the top. I like the tops you wear and find myself wearing the same style because then the snap on my pants doesn’t make my tops stick out like the form fitting ones do. I don’t think you can go wrong in anything you wear and I have loved your 31 days of fashion and look forward to see what’s in store for next month.

  18. I love the dress. But, I’m a sucker for that color combination. I just got my July box and I kept everything!!!! Thanks for turning me on to Stitch Fix.

  19. Cyndi, I love that dress on you, it is very flattering and does not look snug! I think this is my favorite outfit from the last 31 days. Thanks for all of the fashion tips this month, can’t believe July is over.

  20. Oh sweet Cindi, You are adorable in the dress, I love it! One of the things I love about you, and your style, is that you dress modestly yet fashionably, and choose to wear what you feel comfortable in. I can’t tell you how often I’ve purchased outfits that look cute in the dressing room only to find out later they make me feel self-conscience wearing them out and about. My new rule of thumb is, if I have to question whether something is too tight, too short, or too low, it probably is so put it back on the rack and choose something better. I don’t believe your outfits make you look frumpy or maternity at all. You are dressing to represent Christ and your position in ministry while being stylish for your age. I can’t wait to see what you have planned for your followers in August! Blessings to you girl!

  21. Cyndi, nothing is ever plain on you! Everything you wear is just gorgeous. I think the second outfit would be nice with a plain gold chain.

  22. I wouldn’t ditch the dress, looks great on you! But I know if it’s not comfy, it’s not a go-to. I like the outfit with the necklace 🙂

  23. I think that the dress looks a little snug on top, but I think the idea of something form fitting is a good one! I have an hourglass shape so I wear more fitted tops that accentuate a smaller waist. I always hesitate to say this because I think the image that comes to mind is a younger girl in a top that is two sizes too small! Tanya is correct in stating one can (and should) wear tastefully fitting clothes!
Thank you for all the time and effort you put into your blog. You are the only over 40 blogger I have found that dresses in a way I can actually relate to and use in everyday life!

  24. I agree with those who like the dress. It is very figure flattering and looks adorable. It isn’t too snug at all!! I also agree that while those “floaty” (as my daughter calls them ) tops may be comfortable, they do nothing for a cute figure!

  25. Love the quote in Beauty for the heart. Oh that God would give me the grace to do that!
    Really enjoy. your blog!

  26. Although I am an older mature woman, I have been following your blog for awhile. I thought the dress today is one of the best fashions for your cute figure that you have shown. You have too nice a figure to always wear long pants and long full tops. I would like to see you mix it up a bit, step out and be a trend setter! You have the figure to do it.

  27. I have to be honest and say this is one of the best outfits I’ve seen you in. Many of the tops/dresses you wear are very cute, however, they almost look like maternity. I think women can be conservative and still wear tastefully fitting clothing. This dress looks amazing on you! It’s a keeper in my book. I would love to see more figure flattering items 🙂

  28. Thank you so much for your vlog! I absolutely love getting stylish ideas from you & love your Beauty for the Heart too! I just turned 48 & want to look & feel good! 🙂

  29. P.S. (I did notice it pulls in the top. Perhaps a different undergarment? Also, I LOVE the 2nd outfit without the necklace. It looks fabulous.

  30. Thanks for a great month of fashion. I don’t even want to think about Fall and Winter, it was such a harsh one this past year. Uggh.

I actually find the first dress flattering. You have a nice waist and look good in tops, etc. that accentuate it. It’s much less matronly. I figure we should wear it while we can. 🙂

  31. That dress is a keeper….it’s the best out of all the outfits, and if you want to casual it down, where it with those sandals (and even a jean jacket)

  32. Whew! You did it!!! Thanks so much for sharing 31 days of summer fashion with us. I’m sure it was a hassle for you many days, but I greatly appreciate your efforts. You gave me new ideas for outfits, and sometimes I would remember a forgotten top lurking in my closet after seeing your inspiration piece. Thanks again!
