Sunday Encouragement-Give Me Jesus

This is supposed to be another 31 Days of Winter Fashion post but I struggle on Sundays with posting about fashion. If you’ve been reading my blog for a while, you know I love fashion but I hope you know that I love Jesus more.

My mind has been on the tragic events in Paris, France this week. We’re barely into the New Year and already we have terrorists killing innocent people.

I wonder what the year ahead holds? How many innocent people will be killed? Do we have to live in fear?

Sunday Encouragement-Give Me Jesus
I’m reminded of something my Mom told me when I was feeling fearful. Mom would say, “Cyndi when you’re fearful, just say Jesus. Say it as many times as you need to. His name is powerful!”

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve said the name of Jesus. Any time I feel fear welling up inside me, I say His name.

Another thing I kept thinking about this week was the book by Anne Graham Lotz, My Heart’s Cry. Here’s a portion from the book and my prayer for the New Year. I long for……….

More of His voice in my ear,

More of His tears on my face,

More of His praise on my lips,

More of His death in my life,

More of His dirt on my hands,

More of His hope in my grief,

More of His fruit in my service,

More of His love in my home,

More of His courage in my convictions,

More of His nearness in my loneliness,

More of His answers to my prayers,

More of His glory on my knees!

Do you?

Just Give Me Jesus. Enjoy!

Here is a look back at my week of outfits.

  1. Wonderful Jesus! Where would we be without Him? Thank you for your words of inspiration and the video! Absolutely beautiful! And… your fashion sense is beautifully put together as well! Love everything about your postings!

  2. I attended a volunteer meeting at church yesterday for a women’s event we are having soon. The leaders talked about a quote used by Lisa Harper “love bigger, fear smaller, run to Jesus every day”. I totally had no trouble committing that to memory!!

  3. Cyndi:
I think the lesson to take from the tragedies in France this week is Love is stronger than Hate. So many people came to the aid of their fellow man in the grocery store standoff…and they were people of all faiths including Muslim, Jew, and Christian…they stood together in the face of hatred and shared their hope rather than giving into fear.
And the hundreds of thousands who came out in peaceful solidarity on Sunday in France make me hopeful that there really are more good people in this world than bad. Blessings.

  4. Thank you for your obedient heart to our Lord and thank you for leading through example in keeping the Lord’s Day holy! When I’m filled up with Jesus on the inside, I’m equipped to live my life more intentional and will likely make better choices, right down to what I wear for the day! You’re a sweetheart Cindi! I love to read the comments from the other ladies on your Blog also! Such encouragement and lots of great wisdom! Thank you sisters-in-Christ!

  6. Cyndi,
The Lord knew I needed to hear that song today. Just like Jennifer, I have only been around for a few weeks, but oh, how the Lord has used your ministry to speak to my heart. One night I went back and read all the previous posts about your dear sweet mother. My m o m s “home-going” was 7-13-13, but it was through her that I was first introduced to this song. She was on a prayer team for the “Just Give Me Jesus” in Charlotte,NC quite a few years ago. I haven’t heard the song in a while, so I just sat, listened, and soaked up the words once again! Thanks for letting God use you as a vessel to reach others. Blessings!

  7. You are a blessing. I enjoy all your posts and you help keep me focused on what is most important, Jesus. Thank you.

  8. Thank you for being so much more than just another fashion blog. The song brought me to tears and I had a precious time with Jesus. It is not the first time your links have spoken to my soul thank you. Blessings to you and thanks for sharing your heart and faith

  9. Cyndi, I appreciate you taking a break from fashion and enjoying a day of Sabbath! I’ve only been around here a few weeks but truly enjoy your posts and your witness. I appreciate how you are using your platform for Jesus. Fashion is fun but life with Jesus is real.

We just sang Give Me Jesus in church this morning! What a great song and reminder not only of His power but of our complete need for Him in this broken world.

Thanks for the Jesus moment and looking forward to this week’s styles!

  10. Always love visiting your post each day you are always so encouraging I have loved the Bible study it has made me dig deeper in God’s word

  11. Love the excerpt from My Heart’s Cry – exactly where we should focus our attention and our efforts. Hope you and your family have a wonderful Sunday and get to spend time together. I dated a minister for two years and know how hard it is for them to get any down time, especially on what is meant to be our Day of Rest!

  12. I agree with you and the others…Sundays are a great day for Jesus! ( as well as every day). We heard this song this morning on the way to church. One of my favs! Love your fashion Cyndi but more I portantly your heart for our Lord. Have a blessed Sunday 🙂

  13. I love the old hymn also. Jesus, Jesus, Jesus there’s just something about that name. I like giving fashion a rest on Sunday. God bless you, Cyndi.

  14. I agree with you completely, I admire your taste in fashion and your love for God! You make us think about the things that really matter in life. You are so encouraging as a friend to us that follow you and a Christian, I’m so thankful I found your Blog, have a blessed day! Debbie

Thank you for sharing your heart and love for the Lord. This song is my absolute favorite and brings tears to my eyes everytime I hear it.
God bless you and your family.

  16. Cyndi,

I just saw that you dedicated this to your mom. I lost my sweet Christian mom on September 8, 2009. I miss her everyday but thank Jesus she and my dad are safe in Heaven away from all the evil in this world. My dad passed on August 24, 2008 it was a difficult time in my life but Jesus took care of me. God Bless you!

    Terry
