Spring Fashion-Target Style

Okay ladies, Monday starts Spring Fashion around here and I’m trying something a little different for my fashion challenge.

28 days of spring fashion
I know that money is a factor for most of us when we do our seasonal shopping so I went to Target which is reasonably priced and got 9 pieces of clothes. I can create 9 outfits with these pieces.

( I haven’t tried the yellow sweater with the black striped skirt yet and I’m afraid that could look like a bumblebee so it could be 8 outfits. 🙂 )

Also, I thought some of the pieces you all might already have in your closet or at least something similar. I’m hoping this will help you take one top and create three different outfits which is a budget saver!

Spring Fashion Target Style
Here are the pieces I purchased and the total before taxes. My black blazer was looking a little rough so I purchased a blazer but I’m sure many of you have a black blazer. The total without the blazer is $201.92.

Spring Fashion-Target Style
Now if you were purchasing and wearing these, you wouldn’t have to wear them 9 days straight, you could wear them throughout the month but I’ll be styling them each day for the first part of the series. I’ll add accessories that I already have.

Also, many of you work outside the home and most of these outfits are going to be great for work wear. If you don’t work outside the home, these can work for church, date nights, or some will work for running errands.

If you want to purchase any of the items, here are the links:

Pants: Gray Ankle Pant//Skinny Jean//Striped skirt//Wedge heel

Tops: Black blazer//Floral Top (Merona in store)//Green top (Merona in store)//V-neck Pullover  Sweater//Scarf

I’m super excited about March and the spring styles! Please let me know anything you would like to see during the month of March.

What do you think? Will this help?

I would love for you to invite your friends to join us during the Spring Fashion month! It’s kind of like girls night out, everyday!

  1. I went to Target last night and bought the scarf and skirt. I am very excited to wear these pieces this spring and to see how you style all the pieces you are showing. Thanks for the great ideas you always give us. The spring styles will be a wonderful boost at the end of a long winter as we wait for spring. God bless you.

  2. Cyndi,
This looks like it will be fun to try. I think I will look at some nice consignment shops. Several people mentioned on Alison Lumbatis’ Challenge they get their pieces at places like that. I thought that would be a fun challenge to see what I could find. Some pieces from Target are nice and others I think seem like they are poorly made. I will just shop around at a few and see what I find. Thanks for the Spring ideas……

  3. I was surprised that you did not purchase any wide length pants. Does Target carry them? I am hoping that they send them with my next Stitch fix. Love the green color top and the scarf. I may go to Target today.

  4. Hi Cyndi…I too purchased some of theses items recently. I am from Canada and, unfortunately, Target is closing all stores within the next few months (after being here for only 2 years). Its really such a shame because I think its a great store. But, I am excited to see how you put the pieces together. Thanks for the continued inspiration!!!

  5. Love all the items. Can you do show some skirt outfits, I work outside the home in a professional Chiropractor’s office and we have to dress professionally and I thought maybe some skirts for spring might be great.

  6. Question about that green popover shirt…is the color Mint Everest? (Not the Turquoise Whisper, right?) I took the picture to my Target, but wasn’t sure. You said “green” so I hope I got it right. 🙂 Thanks!

  7. Cyndi – Again today, I’m wearing one of my favorite go-to pieces – a black long sleeve t-shirt under a puff vest and scarf – I just looked down and realized the black shirt has those pin-holes in it that cotton shirts seem to get. I just bought this black shirt this winter season. It’s Loft – not Wal-Mart – but that doesn’t seem to matter. Any ideas on keeping cotton shirts from getting these small pin holes? So frustrating…. THANKS and LOVE your blog. It’s the only one I read on a daily basis!

    1. I’ve had that problem with shirts from LOFT, too! It’s so frustrating – you’d expect better from a store that’s a little higher end.

  8. Hi Cyndi,
How excited I was to see this post this morning! It’s still very cold here in Cincinnati, but i just need a little bright spot of Spring. I hope to hit a Target this evening and maybe get a couple of the pieces. I have many of them in my wardrobe already! I can’t wait to see you put these together. Thanks also for considering a real person’s budget. Sometimes other blogs and challenges have unrealistic shopping venues, at least if you need more than say one item. Amy

  9. Friday after work is always my day to grab what I need from Target. This post may get me in a little trouble today, I love Target 🙂 I love the pieces you chose for the challenge, looking forward to the styling! I love your blog, Christianity, fellowship and fashion 🙂 I am such a fan of the fabulous Beth Moore, who is always so put together, I feel it helps her connect and be open with sharing the Gospel, maybe it can help me open a conversation with someone I can share the Grace of God with 🙂

  10. Would it be possible for you to style a knee length denim skirt?
I think many of us have one in our closet but I have no idea how to style it to make it look “fresh” & cute. It wd be a nice alternative to shorts in our hot So Cal weather:)

  11. Can’t wait to see what you do with these pieces! I have those Denizen skinny jeans and they are THE best! Also have a pair in boot cut and have been checking the Target website eery day for about a month hoping the straight jean will be available- they’re only available on line. These are the best fitting, good looking jeans! Neermind that they are under $30.00! A GREAT FIND!

  12. I love this !!! Such pretty clothes! They are already out of stock online for the scarf 🙁 It is beautiful – going to try to find it locally! Thanks for your blog, it’s so helpful & fun!!

  13. I love this idea so much! I like looking at fashion blogs but so many times I am astounded at what people spend on their clothes! I can usually find budget versions of pieces I like, but this makes it so easy. Looking forward to seeing the outfits on you!

  14. I am heading to Target this weekend to find some of these pieces. I would be interested in knowing how the gray ankle pants wear, and wash up. I cant wait until Monday. I always look forward to reading your blog each day!! 🙂

    1. When I click that link it takes me right to the jeans. Maybe you’re browser needs to be updated or you need to clear your cache?? Just some ideas.
Or do you have a pop up blocked??
      Trying to help!!
      Cyndi

  15. Great job with the color palate and pattern mix (except I don’t look good in yellow, but pink would definitely work with the other pieces). I was actually considering that floral top today, this might push me over the edge. Although the black wedges tie the pieces together well, I would be tempted to get the sparkly wedge because, well, they are sparkly! I usually shy away from horizontal stripes on the bottom half, which is more blessed than the top half, so that would take some courage.

    1. I don’t think I look good in yellow either but was wondering if it may work if I put it with a colorful scarf. It may break up the yellow

  16. I’ve got to get on the ball and one day soon change out my wardrobe …. I keep winter in the closet and summer in storage tubs, and now it is almost time to bring back out my summer and stash away my winter clothing in the storage tubs. 🙂 But maybe just not yet…
As you style these new pieces, I will be taking notes hee hee for when my daughters and I do some spring/summer shopping.

  17. Hi Cyndi
I look forward each day to your email. Love your fashions and your quotes for the day. I would ove to have style the maxi skirt a few different ways for the season. Maybe dress it up and dress it down.
    Sher

  18. Hi. Love it. So many comments I might have missed your answer. The link for grey pants does not take me to them. Lisa.

    1. Lisa they sold out of the gray pants online. I’m assuming quite a few women ordered them. Maybe check in the store??
      Sorry about that!!
      Blessings,
      Cyndi

  19. The love these pieces! Can’t wait to see how you style them! I have enjoyed your other style challenges and looking forward to this one. I officially became a part of the 40 and over club this last Monday, but have been following you for over a year.

  20. Great idea, Cyndi! I just bought that scarf and skirt at Target! I’m excited to see what you do with each outfit. Thanks for all your hard work on this blog!

  21. Nice pieces. And so glad to see you choose pieces that are more in most everyone’s price range. Can’t wait to see what you do…………I am going home and start looking in my closet tonight.

  22. I look forward to your posts everyday……I clean out my inbox and save your email for last so I can savor it! Isn’t that crazy!! 🙂 Almost every day I can picture myself wearing your outfit–my style and comfort level is very close to yours. I just wish I had the same budget!! So I”m excited to see your Target outfits. Thanks for considering a wide range of stores and cost levels–that makes your blog more appealing to more people, I would think. THANKS!!

  23. Ahhh, you are my kind of shopping buddy; classy yet budget-friendly! After seeing how you pulled these pieces together from Target makes me think this would be a wise way to shop at any store that carries coordinating styles and color schemes that mix and match. WHBM and Ann Taylor are examples of this too. Though they are more expensive than Target, their lines mix and match beautifully, the clothing is good quality plus they carry regular and petites. I’m going to try to be more conscious-minded about this when I do my shopping from now on! I’m actually going to Target today and must stop by their clothing department! Thanks Cindi! I can’t wait to see how you style these pieces!

    1. I agree about Ann Taylor, WHBM, and Loft. Either I love, or don’t love what they carry because they use a color palette. I am glad to see another person who shops WHBM. I can’t carry everything at that store off, but it is my go to store for jeans and date night tops and cardigans. A little pricey, but there sale rack is a must stop by for me 🙂

  24. I love how you structured this challenge…..can’t wait to follow along each day. I would love to see something along these lines each season, using different stores such as Ann Taylor, JCrew or Banana Republic. Often Target clothing does not fit petites like me/ not all of their items come in petite sizes…not usually a problem with tops, but often a challenge with pants. And I know skinny jeans are here to stay, but at *almost* 47 I do think they are not the best option for me…..if I was as tiny as you, maybe I’d feel differently! I do enjoy your blog and am looking forward to this series.

    1. I am feeling you! I am (almost) 47 and 5-2. I can love it on the rack at Target, and the proportions are off. Sigh! The price of being an undertall girl!

  25. Can’t wait to see how you style your outfits. I have been looking for a black blazer…will be going to Target to check this one out! Thank you Cyndi! Have a blessed day & stay warm! 🙂

  26. I.LOVE.THIS. This may be one of my favorite posts yet! If you remember me from any of the challenges, you know I LOVE Target! And I LOVE fashion on a budget, especially good versatile pieces that can be mixed and matched. I have most of these pieces in my closet already and now they’ll have new options. I’ve been eyeing that striped scarf in the store–now and now I’ll know exactly how to wear it! Can’t wait to see how you style these pieces, Cyndi!!!

    1. Ohhhh, and the one top/3 ways–you’re speaking my language! One of the guidelines I *try* to follow when I shop is “Can I wear it at least 3 different ways?” Love that you’re incorporating this, too!

  27. I love Target! It fits my budget (for me) since I have three boys to clothe. Be sure to have the Cartwheel app on your phone as there are great coupons. Occassionally they offer 40% one clothing item. Recently the offered 30% shoes for the whole family for one day!

  28. This is great creative fashioning…budget, wonderful store and a new season of looks. Love it! Thanks Cyndi, you’re the best!

  29. I’m on board!! I have the black blazer from the Basics Wardrobe Challenge (which by the way, I loved doing that challenge!!). Love everything you do, Cindi!! Target is my go-to place (esp with 3 teenagers) and I will see if there are any Cartwheels along the way, so bring it!!!!!!!!!!

  30. Could you show what might be appropriate to wear to an outside wedding in March? I actually have two to attend and want to look springy but not freeze! Thanks so much!

    1. Hey Donna!
It’s hard for me to do that during this challenge. I know it may not look like it but these posts take me a while to put together.
Also there are dressy weddings, casual, day, night etc. I can’t pull that together quickly.
I can tell you that I would be wearing the wide leg trousers if it were me. They can be dressy, classy and warm. If not that, I would find a cute dress with sleeves and add some wedge heels.
      Thank you for stopping by!!
      Cyndi

  31. Can’t wait to see these pieces styled – and thank you for making this first part “budget friendly”! 🙂
Funny story…i was at target last night and had a few extra dollars that I could spend and bought a grey infinity scarf – while deciding on which one to get, I thought to myself “Cyndi would have and style something like this…”

  32. Thank you so much for sharing where to get these pieces. So often I see an outfit that I like on pinterest and then can’t find any of it. And thanks for keeping our budgets in mind. I think the shade of the yellow top will work fine, but you could always throw the black blazer over it to tone it down a bit if you like..

  33. Awesome! Thx Cyndi I do have a few of these basics but will check out Target today or tomorrow. God bless…you are appreciated! 🙂

  34. I really like how you shared 9 pieces that can be mixed and matched in multiple ways. I plan on getting some of these pieces to add to my wardrobe that will work great for work and for casual events.

    Thanks

  35. Got most of those items in my closet already but I love the ideas! I will check out the yellow shirt and scarf today! I don’t have the blazer either so I’m going to get that to add to my basics. Thanks Cyndi!!! I love your style and your heart!! God bless you and have a beautiful day! I’m so ready for spring!!! 😀
