28 Days of Spring Fashion (Day 4)

It’s Day 4 of my 28 Days of Spring Fashion and this is what it looks like out my front door!

I really have no words at this point. Our state has declared a state of emergency and the Weather Channel has their news people here reporting on this epic snow storm. So.much.fun.

Snow!
Well, it may be snowing but we’re talking Spring Fashion around here. For some reason yesterday before the snow came and while it was raining, I decided to take some pictures in my converse sneakers. (I’m supposed to be styling my Target outfits but I didn’t get a picture.)

Converse sneakers are all the rage this year and I’m trying to figure out how I’m going to style them.

28 Days of Spring Fashion (Day 4)
I like to wear something that looks girly when I wear sneakers like these. I love this pink gingham shirt from Glamour Farms. If we were having typical March weather, this would be a perfect outfit for March in Kentucky.

28 Days of Spring Fashion (Day 4)
Look how cute the top is on their website! Glamour Farms is offering 10% off to all Walking in Grace & Beauty Readers!! Use Code: SPIVEY10

They have all sizes in this gingham top right now so head over there and take a look. They have so many cute clothes!!!

28 Days of Spring Fashion (Day 4)
Have you tried a pair of converse sneakers yet?? Have you noticed they are everywhere!

Now, let’s talk hair (as if it’s really that important, right?). The jury is still out but it seems most of you like my hair shorter. You are more than kind with your comments.

I go Tuesday to get my hair cut and colored so we will see. I’m leaning towards cutting it shorter but maybe not this short.

My Swing Bob Haircut
I have been meaning to tell you all about a product I’m using that I love!!! I mean love!! It’s EverPro Root Concealer. It’s around $10 and it comes in several different colors. I don’t like seeing gray hair and this stuff works!!

I spray it on the areas where my gray hair starts showing up and the gray is gone! It helps me make it until I can get my hair colored.

28 Days of Spring Fashion (Day 4)

Okay I’m hoping to have some Target style tomorrow and the good news is, it is going to warm up next week. Yippee!!

your ticket so you will need to examine the ticket each time to test for the reply.

  2. HELP!!!! I am starting a new p/t job at a well known retail store and they require to dress for the part and I’m just a typical t-shirt and jeans kinda girl, I’m 40 something as well and I’ve been following Cyndi’s pics on Pinterest and I just love all her styles and I need help because when I go shopping, one look at the price and I turn away quick…… I need help

  3. Hi, I found your blog through The Pleated Poppy and have been following your style posts. I really like the short look on your hair I think it really brings out your eyes. But you know, you have to go with what you like. 🙂 I love my converse. My 13 yr old daughter can wear my shoe size (5) now so she took 3 pairs I don’t really wear anymore, but I have always loved my converse. I mainly wear black, grey, red and navy, but am looking to get a bright pink pair. I find them at Ross a lot or order from Zappos. I love your style posts. 🙂 Molly

  4. Hi! I am visiting from What I Wore Wednesday. I absolutely LOVE the pink and white gingham top! We live in Southern Indiana so we are experiencing the same crazy weather but at least the sun is out today!

  5. Cyndi, I found your blog on Pinterest and wow! What great fashion ideas you have.! I love your spring looks and am trying to figure out styling my own clothes using your ideas. I have a pair or dark pink converse that I’ve owned for a year but just started wearing. I love them and get a lot of positive comments on them. Thank you for your hard work. You’re the best!

  6. Cyndi, I am a couple years older than you, and have a similar hair style. I don’t like for it to get too long, as I think it pulls my features down. Also, I’ve been wearing the Converses for a couple of years and L-O-V-E them…they are the most comfortable shoes in the world. They look great with some boyfriend jeans! The ultimate comfort combo 🙂 Love your blog!!

  7. Love the outfit. You could style the sneakers with your yellow sweater and make it a bit more casual. Maybe put a white button-down under the sweater and leave the tails out. I know this tends to be more wintery, but I know it can still stay a little cool up there in early spring. Just a thought.

    1. You look fab in this pink shirt and thanks for the gray cover up trick in the can! I love this idea to help extend those hair appointments! I think your hair looks really nice longer.

  8. Darn it – the shirt is sold out. I was going to order one for my daughter-in-law’s birthday! You look great in the pink checked and I love your hair however you’re the most comfortable with it!!

  9. Oh my!! That is a lot of snow…good thing spring is right around the corner. I love your spring wardrobe ideas, nice and refreshing. Gives me something to look forward to when our snow is gone. Have a great day.

  10. I have thourghly enjoyed your blog! I love the outfits you put together! Thank you so much for taking time to put this together for those of us that struggle with putting outfits together. God bless you! I like your hair shorter, too,

  11. I’m sooo glad I found your blog! I have throughly enjoyed seeing the outfits you put together. Can’t wait to keep loosing this weight and go shopping. God bless you! I like your hair shorter, too. 🙂

  12. I love the pink gingham blouse! The color is a happy bright color especially after the gloomy weather. It looks great on you.. Thanks for styling the Converse. I have been a little hesitant to buy but they look really cute with your outfit.
I agree, hair decisions are so hard To make. I really like your hair today, but think you have a good plan……..longer than the shorter cut in the picture! However, I love that one too. Don’t you just love all of our opinions that make it that much harder to decide?!! What makes you feel best is the answer! You look beautiful, always! Thanks for the inspiration in every way, inward and out! Glad I ran onto your blog through Pinterest! Always look foward to your shopping finds and ideas! Have a blessed day’

  13. Hi Cyndy,
WoW, I sure gained some good fashion ideas today from your blog!
I will definitely try the Grey Away…. I too have started seeing one here and there at my roots. I love your pink Gingham blouse! My daughter LOVES to wear the Gingham blouses and has one of about every color she can find at Tractor Supply! I’ve never heard of the Glamour Farms…. and now I believe they are all out of stock on this pink one, or I would love to order it for her, she is 17. I personally can’t wear gingham, when I do and take pix, I never look good in the style. I guess I will let my daughter keep this style.
I loved your hair short, but I am thinking that this bob is going out of style now and the ones with it are growing their hair longer. But if you are comfortable in it, then keep it. It is very becoming on you, although I’ve never seen you in longer hair and I bet you look gorgeous in it long too!! Have a great weekend… thanks for the tips and fashion styles!!

    1. Ps…. You’re Converse tennies are cute, stylish and very “girly”…Love them!! Do you know if I can find them at Shoe Show? My sons buy their Converse there, but I’ve not looked in the women’s section to know.

    2. I had no idea that Tractor Supply Co sold ladies’ clothes! There’s one pretty close to me but I’ve never gone in there. I just took a peek at their website and might just have to go check out the store now. The prices are really good.

  14. Oh my goodness, I can’t believe how much snow Tennessee and Kentuckey got with this last storm! I live in Dallas and we got over three inches which is extremely unusual here for March.
I really like your hair this length or maybe even a tad longer, it’s really cute. I clicked on the link for the ginham shirt (hot pink+ginham=ALL IN!) and it said “temporarily unavailable” :(. Hopefully they’ll restock soon. Hope you thaw out soon!

  15. I have to say honestly that I prefer your hair longer and it seems to be getting to a nice length now. It would be a shame to give up on it at this point. I think it looks softer and more feminine; the angled short hair is a little harsher in my opinion.
The snow you have is like what we have up here in Canada; always horrible but at least we’re used to it.

  16. My mom is in Lexington near the hospitals and she said the snow last night was blizzard-like. My brother lives not too far from the Fayette Mall and he measured 13″ more last night. Bless your heart, I know you are ready for spring in Kentucky.

  17. Give your hair a chance. You’ve already “suffered” through a good deal of the grow-out yuckiness. If it’s a little longer, you’ll be able to style it so many different ways. I think you’re a follower of Small Things blog? Just think of all the different styles she can do. I’ve been in your shoes (growing out the hair thingy); I encourage you to wait at least one more haircut till you decide for sure that you want to cut it shorter.

  18. Oh, I think the Converse are fun, but can anyone tell me if you think they are narrow? I don’t think I can wear them. Love Cyndi’s hair either way!

  19. Love your hair just above the shoulder. You always look great! I take your picture with me every time I get my hair done. Get lots of compliments. Hair extensions are great. My daughter loves hers. They don’t really look good on me. I’m loving the outfits for Spring. Wish the weather would cooperate.

  20. Cyndi, Just love, love, love your blog and how sweet you are about sharing! I happen to love your hair long! The waiting is the hardest part! Just remember, some of the best things are worth the wait! You can do it!

  21. I feel your pain with the snow. We have missed over 10 days of school and are already out again tomorrow. Our summer is getting shorter and shorter. I went to Target today and tried to look at spring clothes, but I just couldn’t bring myself to buy anthing. I just need sunshine!!!!!

  22. You better start warning any company you promote to STOCK UP when you suggest an article of clothing! Amazing how fast things sell out….just confirms what great fashion sense you have!! We’ll hope for a rain check (or should that be a snow check?!) on the blouse 🙂

  23. Hmm, I thought about it a bit more and looked at your pictures more, and I think I like your short hair better because when I look at you I notice your face and your countenance first. You have a lot of hair and with it longer I tend to notice your hair first. Again, you are BEAUTIFUL either way, and you should have your hair the way it makes *you* happy, but that’s just my two cents. Hope you have a lovely day, and that you get your warm weather SOON!

  24. Put me in the short hair camp. 🙂 You are beautiful either way, but I really love the short hair you have in the picture with the beige top. It just seems to suit you, to me at least. Of course I have a pixie cut, so maybe I am biased towards short hair. 😀

  25. I love the blouse! I wish I could wear Converse, but they don’t have any arch support and are too narrow for my wide feet. The snow you’re getting is what we have had most of February. Now it’s starting to melt here in northern Ohio.

  26. Cyndi
I love your blog and have been following for awhile. You have inspired me to dress up more and it just makes my life easier, I am so happy I found your blog

  27. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the Converse. I’ve been debating, but I’m sold now. The snow looks beautiful. We could use some of it in California. We’re in far Northern Cali and it’s supposed to hit 80 tomorrow. We’ve had no winter.

  28. I purchased a red pair of converse yesterday. I have been wanting them for 2 years and finally took the plunge! Here is what I plan to do with them: white jeans, red/whte striped ss top, straw bag(?),denim or navy shorts, white sleeveless top, thin red sweater, and white jeans again with a chambray ls shirt. You could do dark jeans if you don’t like white. I’m going to chime in on the great hair debate too…I honestly don’t think age has anything to do with it. Long hair looks great on some and not so good on others, no matter the age. The shape of your face and the type of hair you have has more to do with it in my opinion. If your hair isn’t thin and scraggly and you style it I think it can be long. If you think it looks good on you, and your husband likes it, I say go for it. Don’t let other people who have set ideas about what is and isn’t ok for older women dictate to you. Cyndi looks younger than her age, has the right face shape, and thick hair so why not? Lauren Bacall and Dianne Cannon are/were in their 70’s with long hair and looked beautiful.
And, it snowed here in Dallas too yesterday. First we got ice, then 6″ snow. Did it last week too. And most of us don’t know how to drive in it.

  29. Cute top, and that pink is a great color on you! I agree that it looks better on you than the gal modeling it!
Hope your snow melts soon. My area of Michigan is suppose to be in the 40’s temp wise nex week. It will feel like a heat wave-lol!

  30. I love the gingham shirt and the converse sneakers, the outfit looks so cute on you! I’m definitely going to check out Glamour Farms website, I agree with everyone else, you should be modeling the shirt 🙂 I like your hair either way, it ALWAYS looks great! Thanks for the tip on the Gray Away, I have to have my roots done every 4 weeks, my hair grows really fast, where can I find this product? Thanks for sharing, I look forward to your next post. 🙂

  31. Hi Cyndi,
I am 45 yrs old and got my classic white Converse last summer and love them! I love the new colors I have seen lately and can’t wait to add a new fun color this spring. I love how they work with skinny jeans, ankle jeans, and boyfriend jeans. I’ve also worn them with casual skirts for a dressed- down casual look. Hopefully this is your last snow storm and you can rock your Converse soon!
    Deb

  32. Totally a change of topic but have you ever thought about styling yoga pants? I know as we get older we need to cover our tush but the whole yoga outfit is so comfortable and very trendy right now. Of course some people don’t think they should ever be worn out of yoga class but I think when done the right way even moms can wear them and look good. Maybe you have posted about this in the past and I missed it but would love to hear your thoughts.
P.s. Our lawmakers in sc want to outlaw them but it seems to me they should be able to think of better ways to spend their time than on fashion haha.

      1. Nope the real yoga pants that do look like leggings and come in all sorts of colors and lengths .

        1. I guess I should clarify a little more ….. Wearing them to run errands so cute ways to look sporty and good while still wearing the gym clothes.

  33. How long does the EverPro last? I have heard some of these types of products last only until your next shampoo. Curious to hear…

    1. Yes, it only last for the day but it’s inexpensive and I only need it for a few days. The bottle lasts a while.
      Hope that helps!
      Cyndi

  34. Love the Converse! I find them quite comfortable for all day wear. Makes the cute outfit more on trend and it has a good “younger” feel. I just bought a white pair that have perforated canvas, so just a bit little different.
Long hair/short hair – that’s the dilemma as we get around 50. I like your hair in your bio photo which isn’t too short and really cute, but if you want to grow it out, go for it!!

  35. You mentioned yesterday you were interested in hair extensions. Christy Brinkley was on Dr Oz yesterday and she has a line of hair extensions that just clip in. It looked like a good idea after reading what some of your readers go through. Thought you might want to look into them.

  36. Wishing I had read your post before going to Ulta today- will try Everpro on my next trip! I can’t stand seeing gray on my roots between colorings, either! Cyndi, I love your hair both lengths. I say, “whatever makes you feel good and happy”!
I finally made it to Target today. I was able to purchase everything except the shoes and the yellow sweater. I normally wear a size 7 in most shoes, but the 7 was too big and they didn’t have a 6 1/2 in the black. I found the yellow sweater, but the small looked way too big. They had an XS in a different color to compare and really need the XS. I’m going to order the shoes and sweater online. I’m very pleased with the other pieces and can’t wait to start wearing them!!
Thank you, for introducing me to Glamour Farms. Oh my, they have the cutest tops!!! The pink gingham you have on today looks awesome on you-really compliments your sneakers! Still undecided on the converse for myself, they’re cute on you!!

The snowfall is so pretty, but I know it seems never ending to you. Praying this is the end!!!
Sending you sunny and warm thoughts!

    1. You’re sweet, thank you. Yes, they are comfortable although I haven’t walked in them all day. Someone said they put gel inserts in there converse for support. I thought that was a good idea!!
      Blessings,
      cyndi

  37. I love your hair either way as well. I want to order the jeans you are wearing from Nordstrom, but can’t decide if I should get ankle length or regular length. I’m 5’4″. What length do you have and what is your height? Love the gingham shirt too.

  38. It looks the same out my front door. We in Kentucky sure have had our share of snow this winter! It’s beautiful but confining. Especially since my husband had back surgery a month ago.

Love the pink gingham! You had mentioned gingham would be in style this spring, so I looked for it at Goodwill and found peach and blue gingham shirts there over a month ago. They’re washed and hanging in my closet, ready for a spring day!

  39. I was not going to comment, but since you brought it up…I defenitely like your hair shorter. I think the closer we get to 50, that longer hair tends to ” pull us down” and not look so stylish. Just an opinion, not intended to be harmful, just honest!

  40. Grow it longer while you can and then get a new cut, something like Cindy Crawford’s. In fact I might go for some front layering while it grows out. It’s definitely long enough for that now. You’ll never know until you try. I find the helmet head look aging (not that yours is), and that’s hard to achieve with longer hair.

  41. I love your hair shorter like the picture with the tan top! It is perfect. Very young looking!

Thanks for your fashion tips. Very useful.

I live in Nova Scotia. We always have snow in March. That’s what makes a look at spring fashion early so very helpful.

    1. Me, too. I got something similar from Bumble & Bumble at my hairdresser, but it was pretty expensive – $30+ for a tall can. (16 oz?). It has lasted quite a while, all depends, I guess.

  42. Let it grow one more month. Sometimes it has to go through awkward stage but I have not seen that yet. You look cute in anything. 🙂

  43. Wow! Can’t believe the snow you are getting there! Up here in Northeast PA (NEPA), our snow storm fizzled out, thank goodness, but not before they called off school, yet again. Our oldest daughter is a teacher, so far they have had 24 days of either no school or delays…Anywho, your hair is stunning either way. But maybe go with the shorter bob for summer? Haven’t tried the Converse sneakers yet. I’m still lovin my Sketchers Go Walks. But who knows, I may find a color that I like & give them a whirl! Praying all this snow will be short lived now that Spring is supposed to be here. And thanks for the link to Glamour Farms, the shirt is striking. Off to shop there!

  44. State of emergency here too!! Kids home from school and it’s still snowing … But we live in the northeast so I try not to complain. I’ve learned to be content and grateful in whatever season we are in. This too shall pass 😉 loving your sneakers. Where did you buy them??

  45. Oh, I’m so glad I found your blog a couple of weeks ago! You are such a blessing to me. I love your scripture, style and thoughts. Your fashions are so pretty, tasteful and ladylike.
I didn’t weigh in on your hair, but in my opinion (for what it’s worth, haha)…you’re so teeny, tiny I like it short. I think your longer hair overpowers your small frame. I don’t mean to hurt your feelings, though.

  46. Hi Cyndi,
I love your outfit. I am going to go see if I can get that shirt:-) It would fit perfect up here in N. Idaho. We are having an unusually mild winter this year. Usually in February our area looks just like yours does now. Seems like Kentucky & Idaho have swapped weather :-)Blessing & may you have warmer days ahead:-)

PS…thank you for taking the time to share your fashion ideas. I am learning a lot from them:-) I love your hair either way. Looks great!

  47. We started to see snow, around 4 a.m. Its now twelve hours later, 8 inches on the ground, and more falling. Yuck!

  48. Your hair in the pic with the camel sweater (where you say you might not get it that short) is adorable! I love that length….but whatever you decide, YOU must be happy with it!
