Friday Favorites-Beauty Products

It’s the last Friday in May ladies, where did this month go? It’s hard to believe we’re heading into June.

I have a lot of new readers lately so some of you may not know this, but I’m on a mission to get rid of the chemicals in the products I use. I’m trying to eat “clean”, I use essential oils and I’m using makeup with less chemicals.

It’s not an easy process and I still have a long way to go but I’m making changes. I love to try products and then share them with you.

Friday Faves
If you go to Sephora, tarte and Cover Fx are right beside each other because they are beauty lines that are free from a lot of the bad stuff.

tarte cosmetics specializes in good-for-you glamour, makeup and beauty products that are eco-friendly and cruelty-free. I love this brand and I’m incorporating it into my daily makeup routine.

Cover fx products are gluten free. In fact, they’re free of the inflammatory five: parabens, mineral oil, fragrance, talc and gluten.

Here are some beauty products I’ve tried lately:

  • tarte sunscreen– non-chemical sunscreen to help protect, moisturize, brighten and re-invigorate skin for a youthful-looking appearance.

I’m using this sunscreen on my face with the cover fx drops.

  • tarte self tanner- maracuja-infused self-tanner for a natural-looking, all-over bombshell bronze.

This self tanner is good and healthy!!! I love the color and it comes with a mitt to apply evenly. Down side, it’s expensive.

  • Motivation essential oil-helps enable a person to surmount fear and procrastination while stimulating feelings of action and accomplishment. It enhances the ability to move forward in a positive direction.

I love trying different oils and this is the one I’ve been using lately with all the other essential oils I use. I need all the help with motivation I can get!

  • Cover Fx Custom drops– concentrated pigments for convenient customization in your beauty regimen, allowing you to control the level of coverage.

I have started using these drops as my foundation. You can customize your coverage. If I want light coverage, I use 1 drop but if I want more, I use 3 drops. I add to the tarte sunscreen.

This eyeliner glides on easily and stays on all day.

That’s it! I am loving all these new products and I especially love that they are free from all the “bad” stuff.

Have you tried any of these products? Have you tried any healthy products lately?

  1. Cyndi – have you also switched your hair care products to avoid those chemicals you named ? I switched to WEN cleansing conditioner and I love it, plus I know it’s safe and chemical free……..I never knew how damaging shampoo was.

  2. Cyndi , I would love to have you join the link-up party Wearing with Wisdom on King Maker Blog.com . The link-up will be every Wednesday beginning June 3rd at 6 am MST. I welcome clothing and beauty and hair ideas . HOPE TO SEE YOU THERE 🙂

  3. I’m one of your new readers and so far I’m really enjoying your blog! I too am trying to go “clean” and it’s not easy! Thanks for the info on tarte cosmetic &skin care. I will have to give that a try! Trish

  4. I have used the tarte products for years and I love them. I had an allergic reaction to a powder blush from another company and my skin became very sensitive to many products, including powder eye shadow. I tried tarte blush and had no reaction and loved the color. I tried their eye shadows and also had no reaction. I was thrilled! I then used the foundation, under eye concealer, eyeliner and waterproof mascara. I highly recommend them all. Expensive but they last all day and a little goes a long way.

  5. Hi Cyndi,

Thanks for the info on these products. I have tried the Tarte Brazillance self-tanner before and really liked it. I need self-tanner and am considering purchasing that again or trying SunLabs for the first time. How would you compare the two? Thanks!

  6. My daughter recently became a consultant for a new company called BeautyCounter. They use no petroleum products, no synthetic flavors or fragrances, no sulfates, no animal fats, oils or musks and a whole bunch of other chemicals. The prices are comparable to department store labels. They have products for children as well as adults. I like what I’ve tried so far.

  7. How do you define “bad” stuff? I’d always thought things like preservatives were “bad” in cosmetics, but then someone pointed out that unless you refrigerate, cosmetics with no preservatives grow bacteria quickly. I find this a tough area to know what is good or bad!

    1. Hmm, I’ve never heard that and I would think the companies that don’t have the bad stuff would tell you to refrigerate.
I’m still learning but these products don’t have- Parabens, Sulfates, and Phthalates. Which are all unsafe.

    1. Oh gosh, I can’t. Ha!! It’s not my favorite smell but I put it on the back of my neck which doesn’t bother me as much. Sorry I can’t be more help. 🙂

  8. I’m always looking for a good eyeliner that glides on smoothly and stays! I’ll have to try this one. Thanks!!

  9. I discovered the tarte eyeliner several months ago and LOVE it! It truly goes on very easily and it does last all day long. Their mascara is also a keeper! It is very silky and doesn’t clump or leave flakes.

    1. I discovered Tarte’s “Lights, Camera, Lashes” mascara in my monthly Ipsy bag and LOVED it. I hope it is as clean as the other Tarte products featured. Bonus! 🙂
