26 Days of Summer Fashion (Day 7)

It’s Day 7 of my 26 Days of Summer Fashion and it’s a Target style kind of day. I found this light weight button down and paired it with chambray shorts and chambray wide leg pants.

The button down is thin, which makes it great for summer but I did add a white tank top.

If you have a casual work office, this would be a great outfit. It’s so comfortable!

My hair is blocking my necklace but I added my stella & dot cross necklace and my favorite gold hoop earrings.

Target also had these cute chambray shorts. These shorts could be styled with so many different tops. It’s good to have options.

26 Days of Summer Fashion
I wore this outfit Saturday night to a get together we had at our neighbors home. She is one of our church secretaries and a dear friend, she had all the church staff over for a casual dinner.

The weather was perfect and we walked to her house, have I told you how much I love summer??

Chambray is one of my favorite things to style whether it’s a chambray shirt, shorts or pants. Do you have any chambray clothes?

Beauty For the Heart~~We plan the way we want to live, but only God makes us able to live it. Proverbs 16:9 (The Message)

It’s easy for us to plan our days and our weeks but we can’t forget God. His ways are better than ours (Isaiah 55:8). Give each day to Him and let Him direct your steps (Proverbs 3:6).

Have a blessed day!

  1. Hi Cyndi,
These are so cute… love the elastic waist pants, and the little shorts. The blouse is very cute too. Very good job on the pairing of this outfit…. as always, you look very beautiful ! 🙂

  2. You look great! Love the shorts & shirt. The pants are cute too, and I think they would be great for traveling. Thank you for your style tips.

  3. Cyndi, what the heck is the difference between “chambray” and “denim”? I life the shorts and top…I think Target is calling my name. Btw, I still love the heeled espadrille, flowered tank from your Spring a Target series. Thanks for finding the gems! Amy

    1. This is the definition: 🙂
A chambray is a plain weave fabric woven with a colored yarn in the warp and a white yarn in the weft. Like chambray, denim is made with a colored yarn in the warp and white in the weft, but is woven in a twill construction.

      I’m not much help!

  4. Love the chambray shorts, but not on me. I kept checking for your email, since I was near some outlets. And you were doing Target today, which was perfect, since I had just walked in their door. I had to nix the shorts as they are too short for me. However, I did try on the chambray pants and was pleasantly surprised on how they looked. Slimming somewhat actually! I think because of the straight leg, it gave my leg a longer look. I’m a 5’4″ long waisted curvy 14/16, so I tried the XL. They fit nice but about 4″s too long, but I’ll hem them. I’m going to see what kind of white top I can pair with it, as I didn’t care for the plaid shirt. I’m going for a casual walk on the beach look with the chambray pants, so I’ll look for some type of blouse, maybe knotted at the waist look. So ladies, give the chambray pants a second look! Cindi has got style! As usual!

  5. I usually love your selections and I do I like the shirt with the shorts, but the plaid shirt and pants looks like something my 76 year old mother would wear! Maybe that’s why I’m not a fan of this style of pants! ????

    1. Unfortunately, I agree with you about the pants and shirt. I love the look with the shorts. 🙂

  6. I have been wondering something and it has nothing to do with your outfits (which by the way I love just about everything you wear). Why do the trees in the background look all brown? Are they dying?

    1. Hi Laura,
I’m shocked that you’re the first person who has asked about those trees. 🙂
They are not on our property. They’re about 50 feet away on our neighbors lot, and they’re pine trees.
I don’t know if they’re dead but there are a lot of pine trees in our area that are brown. I believe it’s due to the horrible winter we just had. They look like they’re dying but i haven’t asked my neighbor yet.
I wish they were green for my photos. 🙁

  7. Hi Cyndi, I love chambray, but I don’t think I could wear the pants either, I do like the shorts, Very Cute! Have a great afternoon! 🙂

  8. You are so blessed to have such pretty skin/legs. I am 49 and my legs are starting to show veins that make wearing shorts intimidating. I wonder if other ladies my age are experiencing the same or if it is just me?

    1. Jill~I have terrible veins, spider and vericose! I had a treatment on the vericose veins that worked great and was covered by insurance. It’s called EVLT. My veins came out with pregnancies. YUK!! so I got them early ;-( the worst are the spider veins around my ankles. They are “purple-ish” looking or black and blue. I have just learned to live with it. You are not alone sister!! Have a blessed day!!

      1. What doctor treated your varicose veins? Was it a dermatologist or another specialist?
I’m considering trying the EVLT you mentioned, but need to know where to start…thanks!

        1. Hi Melanie~ I used a Vascular Surgeon… Which I HIGHLY recommend. I went in for an evaluation first. She did and examination and then took photos that were sent to my insurance. Once they approved the procedure, I scheduled my procedure. It was done in her office. It didn’t take very long. I chose to have local anesthesia and the anesthesiologist came to the Vascular surgeons office. You do not have to have anesthesia though. I had the procedure done about 3 years ago… I think ;-). If you have any more questions, please don’t hesitate to ask. If you go online, you can see a video….I attached one here.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZqeIe10edM4

      1. Yes, that does help a little I have noticed. I wish something would cover them completely though. Thanks Thea!

        1. Hi, ladies – there is a Laura Geller product on QVC that is GREAT to cover up your legs when wearing shorts. Maybe it would help you? I use it over my self-tanner to fix all of my “mistakes.” There is a video to watch to see if it might work for you. You can find it here:

          Hope this helps!

    2. Jill,
There’s a product called Dermablend Leg and Body Cover. It does help to reduce the visibility of spider and varicose veins, bruises, scars and birthmarks. It comes in many shades so you have to find the right shade to match your skin tone. It also has a SPF 15 Sunscreen in it. If you try it be sure to purchase Dermablend Setting Powder in Matte. It is a translucent powder that prevents the product from rubbing off onto your clothes. You can purchase it at finer department stores, Sephora and I believe Ulta.

      1. PS: Jill, I just looked at my tube of Dermablend. It’s called Dermablend Professional Leg and Body Cover: Full Coverage – Long Wearability – SPF 15 Sunscreen. And the setting powder is called Dermablend Setting Powder.

  9. I just bought those shorts yesterday! I got a cute pink t-shirt to go with them for casual days! I’m so excited to wear them!

  10. I love the outfit! I do have a pair of chambray pants that I can wear long or shorten them to mid calf. They are super comfortable.
    Have a blessed day!

  11. First, I want to say that you look cute in both styles! I love the shorts, but as my mom got older she wore chambray drawstring pants, and so I can’t bring myself to wear those–just yet:D

    1. DITTO!!! I couldn’t bring myself to wear the pants! My mom (73) wears mostly elastic pants and I just can’t do it!! I would NEVER be able to wear them with a shirt tucked in–could possible do a shirt untucked. This plaid top looks similar to something my mom would wear too. I really like the shorts though!! 🙂

    1. Very true statement Cyndi! She looks great in everything! I think I must be shopping with Cyndi in a different state because I look at or purchase almost the same outfits! I just ordered a really cute chambray dress from Anthropolgie that I hope looks good on me when it arrives. I’m planning ahead for a Sept trip to FL. Then all I’ll have to stress over is the humidity and my hair! ????

      1. I happen to know that the chambray dress ordered look adorable on you, Sharon! Hope you keep it. Cyndi, these pants and shorts look so comfortable. I think they would be cool, too. You look terrific in both.

  12. I love all your outfits. You had mentioned that the shorts are so versatile. I think it would be neat to see you style one item different ways…like you did the striped shirt. Some of us are not creative AT ALL! Thanks again for sharing your gift!

  13. Very summery indeed! I love it and am not usually a fan of wide leg pants but may have to give these a second look 😉 Its finally summer here in Utah as well, Yay! Thanks for being a friend to us all!

  14. Hi Cyndi,
I think there is a problem with the link to the wide-leg chambray pants. Are those from Target, too?
