Fall Preview 2015-Shearling Coats and Vests

fall-preview-2015I’m continuing my Grace + Beauty Fall Preview today with cozy shearling coats and vests. Supposedly, they are going to be a must have for this fall season. 🙂

Just in case you didn’t know, shearling coats are made from processed lambskin, sheepskin, or pelt. This “shearing” process creates a uniform depth of the wool fibers for a uniform feel and look.

Genuine shearling coats are quite expensive! This coat from J Crew is $2,000.00. Yep, you read that right!! I can’t imagine spending that on a coat.

This shearling vest from J Crew is beautiful but it’s pricey at $495.

B5892_NA5868_mWell, we don’t have to spend that kind of money to feel stylish this fall. Thank goodness!

There are lots of faux shearling coats and vests that are cozy and stylish! Here are some that I found online. (FYI, faux shearling is not inexpensive.)

  1. I love the whbm vest because it is more tailored and it’s longer. I intend to get one, I love vests for work and I love the look of shearling and actually am more comfortable with the faux shearling. This vest is so versatile, great with denim and for work (where I unfortunately can’t wear denim.)

  2. I’m not sold on this, BUT I may change my mind. The only problems I have – I can’t really wear something like that to work (too hot, and sort of “sloppy”); on the weekends – well, I’m lazy after a full week of clothes, hair and make-up and I want comfort above all else – leggings, sweats – and if I’m home “jammy pants”. Interested in seeing how you style though, as you make me at least try new things.

  3. If you style one I will probably like it!! But looking at these pictures , I could not see myself buying one. Never say never though!! : )

  4. The only one I even remotely like is the one from WHBM. But no, don’t like this style at all. The white vest from J Crew (beautiful – I think not!!), there’s no shape to it and it’s not even hanging square on the model. Don’t get that messy look. Just a big – no thank you!!

  5. I’m not crazy about these either…too bulky and not very feminine in my opinion. I’m getting excited for fall and found some Paul Green open toe booties in a subtle metallic and a long black duster from WHBM. Both were a bit of a splurge but timeless! Thanks for doing the post on those last week! ?

  6. I am not sure I like this look. I don’t like anything that adds bulk to my top area. I will keep and open mind and be on the lookout for different styles.

  7. Good morning,
I have a dark chocolate brown vest like the one from WHBM. I’ve had it a while.
I learned from my deceased aunt to keep all of my clothes because they will come back in style.

  8. Even though I’m hot natured, I am going to check Zulily for a vest at a more affordable price. As usual I really like the beauty for the heart today.

    God Bless!

  9. Love beauty for the heart! Coats cute but not for me in Savannah, GA. Never cold enough. Cyndi, could/would you do post on trench coats? Thanks.

    1. Always have to check to see what you’re wearing.. Not really a fan of this seventies look. Been there, done that.
I would love to see how you organize your closet and jewelry, makeup etc. I am a hot mess with all that.

      Thanks!
