Sunday Encouragement-How Should We Live?

Let your light shineDo you ever wonder what God wants us to be doing? What is His plan for you, what is His plan for me?

We could ponder on that question all day but I think scripture gives us some answers.

Jesus clearly commands that the goal of our lives should be to behave so that God gets the glory. We should live so that others will see our life and give our Father in heaven glory.

It sounds simple but let’s be honest, we don’t always behave in a manner that’s pleasing to God. I certainly don’t! Thankfully, there is grace.

How do we live so that God gets the glory?

Matthew 5:14-16 says, Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

How does this look in our everyday life?

  • It’s giving God glory on the good days and on the bad days.
  • It’s giving God glory in your marriage.
  • It’s giving God glory in your joys.
  • It’s giving God glory in your sorrows.
  • It’s giving God glory in the mundane and in the extraordinary.

Not to us, LORD, not to us but to your name be the glory, because of your love and faithfulness. Psalm 115:1

God gets glory not when we strive to be perfect but when we rely upon His strength and trust in Him each and everyday.

Let’s glorify Him today!

This song fits perfectly with what we are talking about today. If I speak and share my story, it’s really His Story. It’s not about me, it’s all about Him.

What can you praise Him about today?

  1. Thank you Cyndi! Once again your words are what I needed to read today. Your new picture is beautiful.

  2. Thank you Cyndi for the awesome reminder. We all struggle sometimes with letting go and Letting God ! Give God the glory. I so enjoy your posts. Hugs.

  3. Heard all about the power of our tongue this morning. I’ll combine them and pray that I glorify God with my speech this week.

    Have a great week ladies!

  4. Thank you so much for this reminder and encouragement, I definitely needed this! Love your new picture, looks great! Have a beautiful afternoon! 🙂

  5. My husband preached this morning about letting Jesus be LORD and Savior in our lives. So often we’re quite ready for Him to be our Savior. We KNOW we need Him and want Him to save us. But He wants to be LORD of our lives as well – and that takes surrender and commitment. That is how He wants us to live in Him.

  6. We sang this hymn in church this morning: “Glory and praise to our God, who alone gives light to our days. Many are the blessings He bears, to those who trust in His ways.” I am praising God for all of his blessings. And YOU are one of those blessings Cyndi! Thank you for all you do to encourage others.

  7. Sometimes we make the Christian life so complicated, don’t we? But in reality it is rather a simple purpose and existence—to glorify God and enjoy Him forever. As Paul wrote, “Christ in me is to live.” Thank you, Cyndi, for the reminder and encouragement this morning!

  8. Cyndi, Thank you so much for sharing this. I haven’t heard this song before and I love it! Thank you for all you do lady. Your new picture is lovely! Have a blessed Sunday ?

Also, I think you look just stunning in your new picture! Thank you for all the encouragement you give us ladies!!!

  10. Thank you for this encouragement. I’m reminded that everyday should be a God’s glory story! May God bless you and keep you today!

  11. Have a blessed day Cyndi. I was reading & thinking last night how to know what is the will of God in my life. Perhaps it’s not anything earth shattering but simply to live so that others will see Him through me.

  12. Yes just was praying over Luke 16:10
He who is faithful in a very little thing is faithful in much!
