Sunday Encouragement-Do Not Lose Heart

do not become discouraged
Every Sunday I want to encourage you. I know some of you have had a difficult week. The journey is often hard.

I imagine I’m looking at you face to face and saying, DO NOT LOSE HEART! This is a momentary affliction. It may not feel that way, I know, but we have to remember this is not our home.

I love the way the Amplified Version says 2 Corinthians 4:16-18 AMP, “Therefore we do not become discouraged (utterly spiritless, exhausted, and wearied out through fear). Though our outer man is [progressively] decaying and wasting away, yet our inner self is being [progressively] renewed day after day.

For our light, momentary affliction (this slight distress of the passing hour) is ever more and more abundantly preparing and producing and achieving for us an everlasting weight of glory [beyond all measure, excessively surpassing all comparisons and all calculations, a vast and transcendent glory and blessedness never to cease!],

Since we consider and look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen; for the things that are visible are temporal (brief and fleeting), but the things that are invisible are deathless and everlasting.”

This life is temporal and although it can be overwhelming at times, I pray we will look to Jesus and know that He is with us. There’s nothing that we go through that is a surprise to Him!

My sister shared this song on her blog and I have fallen in love with it too. Friday night as we all sat around outside at her house, we played this song. The words are powerful.

You split the sea, so I could walk right through it
All my fears were drowned in perfect love
You rescued me, so I could stand and sing
I am a child of God

We love the part where the young lady comes in toward the end of the song. 🙂

NO LONGER SLAVES
VERSE 1
You unravel me, with a melody
You surround me with a song
Of deliverance, from my enemies
Till all my fears are gone
CHORUS
I’m no longer a slave to fear
I am a child of God
VERSE 2
From my Mothers womb
You have chosen me
Love has called my name
I’ve been born again, into your family
Your blood flows through my veins
CHORUS
BRIDGE
I am surrounded by the arms of a Father
I am surrounded by songs of Deliverance.
We’ve been liberated from our bondage.
We’re the sons and the daughters. Let us sing our FREEDOM!
********
You split the sea, so I could walk right through it
All my fears were drowned in perfect love
You rescued me, so I could stand and sing
I am a child of God

I would be honored to pray for you today. If you have a prayer request, leave it in the comments.

  1. Thank you Cyndi for introducing this song to me. I enjoy your blog so much and appreciate your efforts to remind us that we are all children of the King!!!

  2. I really needed that. Feeling daily like I have lost heart and hope because of events in my life, past and present. Thank you for being a blessing!

  3. My husband and I desperately need help. He is a Christian but is satisfied with just going to church each week and there is no evidence of an ongoing daily relationship with the Lord. We have a history of numerous problems and I fail so often in letting the Lord speak through me when we have a conflict. I feel helpless and hopeless, at times, in our marriage. There is much more to our history of being married over 20 years, but I would just appreciate knowing someone is praying for us. thank you.

  4. It’s so funny that you mentioned that song. Do you ever wake up singing a song? Well, this is the song I woke up singing this morning. Love it and it’s simple truth! God bless.

  5. Thank you so much for your encouragement Cyndi, I pray for healing, health, happiness, protection and prosperity for everyone this week.
    God bless you all!

  6. I need a financial miracle this week.. I just want to be able to pay my bills. Please pray with and for this situation.
    Katie

  7. Please pray for my husband, John. He has a very rare form of cancer and is undergoing chemotherapy right now in the hospital. His heart rate (pulse) has gone way up and had to stop chemo and is currently in ICU. It has been a horrible journey so far. A roller coaster of emotions. He could really use lots of prayers. Thank you.

        1. Oh sweetheart I lay in a coma for 8 days due to chemo…because of prayer I’m still hear! That’s been 9 years ago. My prayers are for you and your family and love ones. Keep hanging on. Phil.4:13

  8. Thank you Cyndi for reminding me that my worries for the week don’t ultimately define me. Struggling in so many areas of my life. I am always a child of God! Those problems will one day pass away and what a glorious day that will be to live with a peace that passes all understanding! What seems like a lifetime of problems is only a blip in eternity!

  9. Hello Cyndi
Thank you for your prayers. I am very discouraged today regarding a number of family issues and an ongoing health problem. Thank you for your encouragement:)

  10. Praying for all. In the last week, all three of my aunts have been hospitalized. One passed peacefully and is safe with our Lord. The others are recovering. One friend completed treatment for breast cancer. Another friend begins hers on Tuesday with a mastectomy. My brother is in treatment for stage 4 colon cancer and doing well. His wife, my husband and another brother are still looking for permanent, full time work. Sometimes I am overwhelmed by the difficulty of this life. But God is good. All things in his timing.

  11. You are such a blessing in many ways. I recently lost my job due to financial stability of the company I was employed with. Prior to that I held a position in local government for 20 years and needed a change from all of the negativity. My prayer request is for me to be able to listen and see what God has in store for me. I am quite discouraged as jobs are scarce in our area. If it would be possible please pray for healing of my back as I am suffering from sciatica pain as well. Thank you for not only your encouraging word but I look forward to the fashion advice and ideas you provide as well. Many blessings to all.

  12. thank you once more for your encouragement. our church is on day 6 of a the entire month of September being organized daily prayer for revival and the individual components of govt. churches homes family etc.and for this t be just the beginning of sustained prayer

  13. I read each comment and will pray for all of you. Right now, my household is in a peaceful place for the most part, though we have really been through some heavy trials this past year. Please remember these will pass, these times will not last forever, God knows just how much we can handle and even our trials are perfectly designed for each of us, God wants to draw us nearer to Him. Call upon Him, He is your Father, He is here for you right now, let Him comfort you and carry you through these trials. He will. He promises us He will never leave us, nor forsake us.

    1. Thank you Robyn and Cyndi for your prayers. It is my birthday and just feel alone. I know it is just a feeling. My family lives in other states and my husband is withdrawn. Please pray that we can draw closer to Him and each other this year.

      1. Christa, I pray that God will draw you closer and shower you with many blessings on this, your birthday, and throughout this coming year. And Happy Birthday!

  14. Please pray for my Mom. She had rotator cuff on Friday and is still in much pain. Thank you for your encouraging posts. God bless you.

  15. Cyndi, you have touched me in so many ways. I always look forward to your inspirational words on Sunday. Today’s post touched my heart in a special way. My precious father is in hospice care at this time. I would so appreciate your remembering my daddy, Flávio, in your prayers. Thank you so much for sharing your generous heart.

  16. I needed this today! My husband told me he wants a divorce, he doesn’t want to be married. He wants to date other people he’s met on dating websites and old girlfriends he’s reconnected with on Facebook. My heart is broken. I can’t stop weeping. You’re prayers and words of encouragement are much appreciated!

    1. Lisa I am so so sorry!!! Please know that I’m praying for you. I know that your heart is breaking cling to Jesus right now. He can mend your broken heart.
      Blessings,
      Cyndi

  17. Dear Cyndi, my husband went into Renal failure six days ago. He is experiencing internal bleeding they have not been able to stop. Please agree with me for God’s healing power and even more so that God will draw my husband into a saving, loving and serving relationship with him. His name is Bob Gonzalez.

    1. Candace, you and Bob will remain in my prayers for his perfect comfort and miraculous healing.
Your and ours prayers will be heard and answered…Our God is kind, and He is always with us.
      Bob will be blessed.

  18. Thank you for these words of encouragement! They feel as though they were meant just for me. The evil one is having a hey day creating dissension and strife, and hurt within my family. Your words are comforting, and I thank you.

  19. Hi Cyndi,

Great song…adding to the playlist! Please pray for my friend Lynda and her friend Carolyn. Carolyn is 40 something young and just diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. Both of these gals know Jesus, but are frightened and devastated with this diagnosis. Thanks for your prayers – we’re getting Carolyn and family added to as many prayer chains as we can.

  20. I love this song too Cyndi. Thx for sharing it. Praying for YOU today as we head to church. Thank you for being a light for truth. God bless 🙂

  21. Just what I needed today. Our sermon today was from Ecclesiastes. A time for everything and this was perfect timing for your post. Things look a little brighter. 🙂 have a great weekend.

  22. Cyndi,

Just wanted to say I’m grateful for you! I love your fashion sense of course, but I am even more thankful for your love of Jesus and how you inspire us all. It’s wonderful to be part of a group that looks to Him! We ALL need prayer and I will be lifting you up today as well as all the ladies in this group even though I have never met a single one. Blessings for a beautiful Sunday.

  23. I LOVE this song!!!!! Especially when my son is singing it at our church!!!

I love the scriptures… God is so good to us! I also love how He uses our afflictions and experiences to uplift an encourage one another…

2 Corinthians 1:3-4 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction so that we will be able to comfort those who are in any affliction with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.

  24. I’ve been praying a long time for deliverance/healing for my trials. Now I am just praying for strength and wisdom to endure them.

I give thanks that we have good medical insurance and doctors to treat the clinical depression that I struggle with and my husbands Parkinson’s disease. I thank God that he has protected my 25 year old son who is currently in jail and struggling with hard drug use for the past 9 years. I am grateful that my daughter is doing so well in college.

I sometimes struggle with fear and doubts because of these afflictions but there is so much to be grateful for and someone else in the world would love to have my blessings of food, shelter, clothes, needs and wants met.

Thank you for your encouraging words.

    Beth

  25. Years ago, the Lord used 2 Corinthians 4 to bring me through a deep depression. I’m so thankful for God’s Word that is the power to save and renew us.

  26. Cyndi, some of the special needs children I follow on FB have had a very tough week, causing some of them to go to the hospital and one was admitted. I would like prayers to be said for them: Callie Truelove; Hayleigh Cox; Tristen and Taylor (I can’t recall their last names). And one of our brother-in-laws, Ron Eigelberger is in the hospital. They think he has a real bad infection inside his body that has caused his right shoulder & arm to swell, but right now they don’t have a clue what’s wrong.

    Thank you and God Bless!
