26 Days of Fall Fashion (Day 17)

poncho from loft 10Welcome to Day 17 of my 26 Days of Fall Fashion! I love to wear ponchos when I’m going to be out and about on a cool day.

They keep me warm and I don’t have to drag a coat around. I styled a couple of ponchos last year.

I loved wearing this tan poncho with white jeans last winter.

I also styled this gray poncho with skinny jeans and black heels.

Today I’m styling the border stripe poncho sweater from LOFT. I decided to wear it with skinny jeans but you could wear it with black ponte pants or white jeans.

poncho from LOFT 2I’m wearing black wedge boots. I did one large cuff with my skinny jeans.

Beauty For the Heart~~Independence is a sign of immaturity. We were meant to live in  community. -Beth Moore

This quote was a part of the Bible study I’m doing right now. Oh I could write a book on that quote!

I have been in ministry a long time and I have heard a lot of excuses as to why people are not a part of a body of believers (the church).

Some have been hurt by the church. Can I just tell you that I have been hurt too. I get it. But I’m not going to let that stop me from doing what God has called me to do.

Many people say there are too many hypocrites in the church. Yes there are, but there are hypocrites at Walmart too, but I bet you go to Walmart.

And can I just say, if you think I go to church because I have it all together, you are mistaken.

I go because I DON’T have it all together! I need to be there. I need to be stretched in my faith. I need to be encouraged on this journey.

Most importantly I need to be reminded of God’s grace and that even though I’m a sinner, He still loves me.

If you haven’t been to church in a while, why not go tomorrow? You could receive a blessing!

Have a blessed day!

  1. I enjoyed Beauty for the Heart You mentioned there being hypocrites at Walmart, which tickled me. I was listening to a preacher on the radio. The preacher said he asked a young man why he didn’t have a church home and the man replied “There are too many hypocrites in some churches!” The preacher said “Our church is loaded with them and we need another one, we would love to have you!” I laughed and thought, you know, we all have our hypocritical moments, but that’s why we need Jesus 🙂

    1. I just received the white “really good long sleeve shirt” in the mail from Nordstrom’s. It is NOT really good, super thin and not worth $25 at all. Thought I needed to warn folks.

      1. Thank you for sharing Carol! While I’m surprised i understand that not everyone will love it. I still do and it got over 300 5 stars so some people do agree with me.
Sorry it wasn’t what you expected.
        Cyndi

  2. Preach it sister! That was awesome! And I absolutely love ponchos and I love every outfit you are styling on this day! Thank you for your inspiration and your fashion fun!

  3. I love the boots! I looked at them on Glamour Farms to see if there was any info on how they fit. What is the fit like for you? Are they true to size? And, most importantly are they comfortable for standing in all day?
Thanks for all the great inspiration!

    1. Sue I apologize that I’m just getting to your comment! They do fit true to size and I could wear them for most of the day but not if I were standing all day.
They’re perfect for an evening out or even for church. Hope that helps!
      Blessings,
      Cyndi

  4. Amen sista!! We do need to be part of a church. We are relational beings and Christ wants us to commune together 😉 Love your outfit!!

  5. I just love and appreciate each and every post. I had been struggling with the church thing too. I read the book by Joyce Meyer… The Confident Woman and it helped me so much!

Also Talbots has a post that you can see on their site or on Pinterest. It’s called six ways to tie a scarf and they show you step by step. I really learned a lot and thought maybe some of the other ladies would enjoy it as much as I did.

God Loves You ALL !! 🙂

  6. Thanks for faithfully sharing ways for ladies our age to look youthful but not like we are trying to look too young!! Love your words of encouragement and sharing Jesus everyday!

  7. Poncho lover here! I am craving Fall temps just so I can break out the ponchos… I love this beautiful grey one and the necklace is perfect with it. Loving your Fall outfits and getting anxious for these hot temps to go away!

  8. You look adorable wearing all the ponchos. Your beauty from the heart message today was excellent. I attend a church regularly and so much like you as needing to be there. I’m also like you as far as being hurt however I always remind myself, I’m not going to look good for attending, or to go to show off an outfit. (There are many competitive women even in church) I go because I crave to know more about Jesus so I can teach my 3 kids (now teens). Thank you for your encouraging words.

  9. Hi Cyndi,
Ahhh a beautiful fashion model to take notes from and also be blessed for the day at the same time, is very refreshing. 🙂 I love the poncho, but have never bought myself one since I was in grade school, I guess it’s time to hunt me another one. 🙂 I love the white jeans and tan 😉 and I love the gray striped poncho.. 😉 … I love the easy, breezy, outfits that make a statement and looks so stunning! You, my friend could model professionally ! God bless you today and always!
Being in the ministry over 28 years, we too have heard all the excuses in the book…. I love your comment about Walmart, hee hee. So true.

  10. Ditto to all those who love your poncho outfits AND even more importantly, your Beauty for the Heart today. WELL SAID! Thank you!

  11. I don’t know what I would do without my church family. They sponsor the Christian school where I work and my kids attend. There is nothing like worshiping Jesus with others. Have a wonderful Saturday!

  12. Love your outfit today Cyndi. It’s one of my favorites! I also love your words of encouragement regarding church. I’m going to make an effort to attend church tomorrow. What you said really struck a cord with me! Thank you for taking time out of your morning to write it!

  13. Hi, first I do enjoy your blog tremendously unfortunately I am in Germany so getting same pieces is pretty hard but it’s great to see for style inspiration! But what I enjoy the most are your quotes of inspirations at the end. I am not a religious person but know I am missing something and these comfort me! After reading today’s I said why not go to church tomorrow and timing is perfect – our church is celebrating the pastor who helped my twins communion process. Now we can be there to celebrate with her. Sorry for the long message but I felt the need to thank you!!

    1. Hi Rebecca! Isn’t it amazing how we can connect from different parts of the world. Praying for you as go to church tomorrow. I hope you are blessed!
      Cyndi

  14. Happy Saturday Cyndi! I think I’ll look into getting a poncho. Can they be worn with flared leg jeans? I really like what you write about why we need to go to church. I know that I need the church and it does me so much good every time I enter the church doors. There are way too many horrible things going on in this world, and too many daily challenges, that I need our Heavenly Father to lean on, guide me, and help me walk down the path He’s put before me.
    God bless!

  15. Wow Cindy powerful words!
Satan would love for us to be separated from the love and grace of a spirit filled church!
I feel it takes effort and comitment in my life, but rewards so Great!
Love the poncho haven’t purchased one but great change from sweaters in winter!:)

  16. Hi Cyndi,

Love all the poncho looks on you. I love ponchos…throw on and go? I’m excited to receive my Nordstrom jeans in the mail any day…I think I will get a lot of wear out of them.

Two questions….do you have a favorite bootie either wedge or heel in the taupe/tan color besides the Old Navy ones??

And also how do you tie the scarf like that in the pic with the tan poncho and leopard scarf?? I guess white jeans are okay in winter?? I still struggle with that one…lol!

    Have a blessed weekend!

    Lisa

    1. Hey Lisa, it’s funny you asked about the boot. I’ve been looking for one that I wouldn’t have to pay over $100.
I found this one at Target http://rstyle.me/n/bafbq7pcsw and ordered it this week. I should get it next week and I’m hoping to style it.
I saw it at my Target but they didn’t have my size.

I tied the scarf ends to make it an infinity scarf and then wrapped it around my neck twice. 🙂 Easy Peasy.
      Blessings,
      Cyndi

  17. It seemed like your Beauty For the Heart was just for me! Thank you, exactly what I needed to hear today!

Beautiful outfit too, by the way. I’ve never tried a poncho, but this makes me want to! 🙂
