Work Wear-25 Days of Winter Fashion (Day 6)

Work Wear For Women over 40Welcome to Day 6 of 25 Days of Winter Fashion! Today it’s Work Wear style for those of you who can’t wear jeans to work.

Most of the tops I wear can be worn with pants instead of jeans. The dilemma is what type of pants and where to find them.

I like the sloan style pant from Banana Republic. They come in ankle pants, trousers and a flare leg. All of them are cute! They are a great quality and I caught them on sale.

I’m styling the Sloan-Fit Windowpane Slim Ankle Pant and they’re on sale for $29.99 but they have very limited sizes. This pant comes several colors including a charcoal color.

Work Wear For Women over 40I’m wearing a sleeveless black top from LOFT. Because it was cold outside, I added a long sleeve black top under the sleeveless top for layering.

Work Wear For Women over 40I love adding a denim jacket to my outfits. I’m also wearing a wedge boot but you can wear flats or a heel with these pants.

Work Wear For Women over 40I have been getting several emails about my nails. I wrote a post about them here. 🙂

Lastly, I have been wanting to share about these 2 brushes I’ve been using for about 6 months. I’ve spent a lot of money on makeup brushes over the years but these Sonia Kashuk brushes from Target are my FAVORITE and they are inexpensive!

They are great for contouring. I love love love them!! I have been using Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Cream Kit in medium.

The brushes are Sonia Kashuk No. 121 (use under my eyes and anywhere I put the light concealer) and No. 130 (this is what I use for my foundation).

Have you tried Sonia Kashuk brushes?

Make sure you head over and see what Jo-Lynne is wearing today!

  1. The outfit would work my my job in a dental office, do you miss it Cyndi? Lol I have a lot of Sonia Kashuk brushes and her makeup is very good quality. Loving the 25 days of winter outfits.

  2. Cyndi, I have never used a foundation brush. I usually use Estee Lauder Double Wear, and just put it on with my fingers. Would the brush work better with the liquid?

  3. I love this look! Great tip on the nails too. I get so frustrated with gel nails chipping on me. I’m going to ask my nail tech if she can do what you suggested. Thanks!

  4. Cyndi – I work at a medical office and dress similar to what you modeled today. I also wear a lot of casual dresses with leggings and boots and often get compliments on the casual look – so much nicer than dress pants! Also I love Sonia Kashuk brushes – I buy the 5 pack for $19.99 and they work great! Thanks for your inspiration as always!

  5. Adorable outfit. I agree with others that this wouldn’t necessarily work in many work settings but you could switch out the denim for a blazer and maybe heels or dressier shoes. It would work for some work environments though!

  6. Hi Cyndi!

I love this outfit! I have the jacket & blouse…I just need to make a run to The Loft for the pants ; )

    Have a great day!

  7. So cute! This is what I call “snappy casual.” I learned the term from my daughter’s high school drill/dance team instructor. Whenever the girls were to go out to eat/travel (not in uniform), she would instruct the girls to wear a “snappy casual” outfit. Now, the 14-18 year olds wouldn’t wear this, but it’s definitely something she would. So, my point is, this is perfect for casual offices, most teachers, or casual Fridays. Change the denim jacket to a blazer and the wedges to heels, and it fits almost every office. Cyndi, you are always right on target. XOXO

  8. This is a great work outfit, and depending on the office, it may be for a Friday only. Of course, a change of jacket and maybe the shoes and it should be appropriate in almost all except the very strict offices (CPA, Lawyers, Investment Firms, etc.) I have worn a similar outfit often, and I have on a dark “dressier” denim shirt today :). I do think that women at even a manager level should wear a jacket or have one on hand if needed. You never know when the call to go to the “upper office” will come so being prepared is essential, and a jacket makes any outfit look more pulled together. I know that my boss is struggling to communicate that to some of her women managers now – that their appearance matters and, while we hate to admit it, can limit and/or determine our professional future.
Keep up the great styles Cyndi! I love almost everything you show us. I’ve shared your link with some of the women in the office and we giggle about “styling like Cyndi today” when we wear things you have shown. Hugs from Knoxville, TN!

  9. Being just a little bit north of you, I tend to wear nothing but pants in the winter (to work and church) because it keeps me warmer! Dresses in the summer/warmer months because they’re cooler than pants.

BUT, I don’t know that this outfit would be work/office-appropriate for everyone. I know that we should all be able to infer this and apply it to our own situations. As a department manager at a corporate office, this would not work for me – just a little too casual. Maybe if I swapped out the denim jacket it would be better. I do appreciate all of your posts! 🙂

  10. very cute as always! I love almost everything you wear! But, I don’t see the handbag link…I’ve been looking for a nice bag like this. Do tell…

    Thanks 🙂

  11. I wish I had known about these brushes before I bought several IT Brushes from ULTA. Target’s are much less expensive. You can get both of these brushes for less than I paid for one at ULTA. 🙁 Mine are great brushes too though!

  12. Ok, I had to laugh when I saw this post. I will have to go take a photo in the work restroom & post a picture of myself today FB page. I have on an outfit sooo similar to this, it’s crazy. 🙂 You look much better than I do though as always!!! I will admit though when I got ready today I almost didn’t wear it as this is really too casual for a non-Friday here at work. But its’ raining out and I don’t have any client meetings or reasons to leave the office so I’m cheating!
