How To Do A Half Up Hairstyle

How to do a half up hairstyleWell, I have been promising forever to do a tutorial on How To Do a Half Up Hairstyle. I keep getting emails asking how I get my height on top.

I have tried to break this up into steps. It really is easy to do and I hope this helps.

1. Begin by separating the hair at your crown area. Using a fine-tooth comb or teasing brush, tease the hair by slowly combing it toward your scalp. (It does help if you have some product in your hair.)

  1. Thank you for your tips on fine hair and how to do a half up hairstyle. Love the hair style! Unfortunately, I have fine thin hair and always looking forward for tips on how add volume.

  2. Is caring for this hair style hard? I do not like to show my ears. One is higher than the other and looks different from the other. My face is not pretty like yours it used to be oval and now with age to me it looks round.

  3. Love your looks, so well put together,
I know I’m older and heavier lol, I need to get back to doing more though,
    Thanks for inspiration

  4. Thank you for posting this tutorial! I love the look and have tried it but now am inspired to try it again. Maybe it will look better this time.;-)

  5. The shirt you’re wearing in the final photo showing the back of your hair is different from the other photos. Love the zipper in the back. Would you mind sharing where I can find one? Thanks!

  6. Thanks for the tutorial. My hair is a shorter bob. I prefer it much shorter but with age had to soften my look. I often pull the front back a little differently because I hate the feeling of hair. Every so often I have the haunting of a friend saying she pulled her hair back and felt “little house on the Prairie” like. You make me feel like she was off base. Thank you!

For the poster that gets headaches, I can only use bobby pins upside down (ridge up) or the ones without ridges. Barrettes never happen. Just wanted you to know you are not alone.

  7. Love your hair! Thank you for posting this tutorial! My hair is much shorter but I am still able to to pull it up similar to to your style. I can’t wait to look at my e mails each day to read your Blogs!!!! Your style is exactly mine! You have given me so many ideas, I just wish my budget could afford these gorgeous clothes.

Thank you for giving us so many ideas & ways to wear different accessories and clothes!

    Blessings!
    Susan

  8. Catching up on my blog reads….Thanks for the tutorial! And yes, I LOVE the updates you did with your website! Faster and images do not cross over each other (at least that is what it did for me!)
    Enjoy the day.

  9. Cute style, the blog is loading faster and the design is really nice as well. Your blush looks so nice o. Your skin, is it a cream blush?

  10. Thanks for showing this, I had no idea that’s how you did it. I do something similar for a ponytail but never thought of it for this. So adorable!
Site looks great too by the way!

  11. I do love your hair and your new blog. Everything loads faster and I do not have to try so many times to read your post. I can’t wait to read my email each day and get excited when your post comes through. Thank you.

  12. Thanks for the step by step instructions. I find your blog very helpful, and the fashion and styling tips-God bless you for helping the rest of us out!!!

  13. It’s so cute that way, I’ll have to try it…..My hair is very thick and I have a ton of it, so I rarely can wear my hair pulled back, and if I do I can go the entire day, I end up with a headache and then my head will get sore also where any barrettes are…..but am going to try it anyway, I get tired of having my hair the same all the time.

  14. I never had trouble with your blog crashing. Some times it wouldn’t load. Your hair is always too cute. Not only is mine baby fine, but it is also so thin were the strands thicker I would be able to count them! So, it’s short, short for me! Recently got a short jean jacket so looking forward to the cooler weather in NE Tx this week so I can wear it maybe even with a red sweater! 😉

  15. Your hair looks really cute like that! Yes, your website is working much better. Loading quicker and not freezing on me. I also had issues sending comments – often times I would have to hit he same key 3 times or so before the system would accept it. Not happening now. Yipee

  16. I wish I had enough hair to do a hair style like that!!! 🙂

About the website, it definitely loads quicker although I didn’t have issues with that before. What I do notice is that before your profile picture was always cut off by the beginning of your daily blog and it’s not that way now. It appears as I believe you intend for it to be. Not sure if you were even aware of that issue, but seems like the redo solved another problem too!

    Have a great day!

  17. Your hair looks great and you always look so put together. I’m older than you, but following your blog has helped me branch out with bolder colors and styles. And yes, now I can read your posts without crashing and loading several times. Also, I’m a Kentucky girl too!

  18. Love the hairstyle- super cute & the tutorial is very helpful.

The websites does seem to load a little faster now. Thanks!

I’m going to NYC next month and will be doing a lot of walking and shopping. YAY! I need suggestions for cute and comfy clothes, especially shoes that I can wear all day. I really don’t want to wear athletic shoes, but I don’t want to be miserable either. Any suggestions? Thanks!

    1. I got some Skechers boat shoes for my trip to NY last year. They have a yoga matt on the inside, they are soooo comfortable, I call them my slippers. I tried to add a picture of them but couldn’t figure out how to do it.

  19. great tutorial i do this a lot with my hair , thanks for your posts they are very informative and encouraging regards orla

  20. You are so cute! I really like your hair pulled back, but don’t think you need to cut it shorter! I think it needs a bit of soft layering in the front and maybe (maybe) less bang.I have a similar cut and when my front layers get too long I pull them up, so I think you may be experiencing the same thing. I definitely can’t have too long hair in the front as it pulls my face down in a bad way. With the front layers you can really let it grow long in the back and have it look natural… think Cindy Crawford, but with some bangs. Just my two cents that you really don’t need because you always look adorable and generally know what looks good on yourself. 🙂

  21. Thanks for the tutorial. I wear my hair similarly but took the sides up in the first step. Adding the second step should help it stay looking nicer longer so thanks for the idea.

So far the new blog format is working well. Way to hang in there to make it better.

  22. Thanks so much for the tutorial, Cyndi. I am one of those who have been asking, because I love your hairstyle so much! It really does help with the pictures. I can’t wait to try it.
I’ve never had trouble with your site. But I’m glad any issues you’ve had are resolved.

You look as adorable as ever today in your red top, and jean jacket.
    Blessings for a wonderful day!

  23. You are as adorable as always! Love your hair, I wish I could do something like that with shorter hair! I have never had any problem with your site crashing I have a red top and a jean jacket and am going to put this outfit together sometime this week! Blessings you Sweet Lady!

  24. The new web design is working great for me! Thanks so much for the tutorial – I love how cute it looks on you and can’t wait to try it myself. Love your blog!

  25. The only problem I have is when I try to leave replies using my iPad – cannot ever get that to work :(. Hairstyle is cute cute! and I may have to give it a try. Although my thinning hair is a challenge these days – can I say that I. don’t. like. it. one. bit – this getting older stuff is not for the faint of heart!

  26. Love the hairstyle and the new blog! In the past it would sometimes take me 3-4 tries to read the post in its entirety due to crashing. Now, it loads much faster and I haven’t had any problems with crashing. Thanks!
