Casual Weekend Outfit For Women Over 40

Here we are, Friday again! It’s hard to believe this is the last weekend in February. Jo-Lynne and I begin our 27 Days of Spring Fashion next week!!

I’m praying our weather warms up and starts to feel like spring. It’s so much easier to take outdoor pictures when you’re not freezing to death!

27 Days of Spring FashionLast Saturday we had lunch with our adult children. Our daughter is married and has our only grandchild, Colt Allen (Allen was my Mom’s maiden name so he is named after her. She would have been crazy over him!)

The big deal with our lunch date was we met our son’s girlfriend for the first time and they started dating last November. (He’s an attorney and lives almost 2 hours from us.)

My son does not introduce us to girlfriends very often (maybe one other time). I am hmmm… how should I put this, protective. Yep, that’s the word. My husband said protective like a mama grizzly bear. Okay, that’s fair.

Anyway, I’m sharing this casual weekend outfit I wore to our lunch date. I snapped this picture before we left.

Casual Weekend Outfit For Women Over 40

We stopped after lunch and snapped these pictures outside. The wind was of course blowing, I don’t know what it feels like to take a picture without wind.

  1. I love the top! How do their clothes run? I see that the smallest size they have is small and I am very petite and wear XS. Do they have any XS clothes?

  2. Hi Cyndi,
Love your blog and look forward to your posts every day. I don’t even remember how I found you, but have shared with several of my friends. As a 40 + 21 year old mother and grandmother I can relate so well and appreciate you showing us that we can be beautiful at any age. Also very much enjoy the daily inspiration – it is so needed in our hectic lives!
Love your style and almost everything you show us – love fashion and learn from you every time I read a post.
I do have a request – working in an office that is business casual, no denim. Can you show ideas for looks that are appropriate for work yet still current and fashionable? This would be such a help!

Thanks so much and may God continue to bless you and you family.

  3. My family says I’m a mama bear. Im okay with that. 🙂 Nobody will protect them the way we do. Have a blessed weekend!

  4. Hi Cyndi
Luv your blog and the clothes you model,
Very much my style. Only wish Glamour Farms was in other places. The pricing on
The clothing is incredibly great. Maybe one day I will make it down there!

Look forward to seeing 27 days of Spring.
    Happy Weekend!

  5. Let’s all praise the Lord for the wonderful example set by the female grizzly Bears! She has served as inspiration to women all over the world!

  6. I am happy to learn a bit more about you. I have a son and daughter myself. I am also a mama bear, although now that they are adults that usually doesn’t happen. Have a wonderful weekend!

  7. I was able to find the wedge sandals at Zappos. They shipped for free and arrived in 2 days! I’m ready for spring.

  8. Hi Cyndi,
Fabulous weekend look for a grizzly momma bear. It’s always difficult meeting new partners, our only
    hope is they are happy.
Yay for March 1st, very much looking forward to Spring fashion, can’t believe it’s 12 months since
you last did it! Where has the time gone? Hope the Kentucky weather plays ball as I’m hoping too
for good weather here in the UK😎
    Have a lovely weekend.
    Nicky

  9. Good morning, Cyndi!
I have written before…I love your blog even though I am older. You inspire me to try different things.

Question…has anyone mentioned some of your pics are blurry…or is it just on my end? Never had the problem before. Some pics are clear…others blurry.
Have a great day, Mama bear.

    1. Hi Cindy! I thought it was just me, but yes half of the pictures are blurry!! If I click on them to enlarge they fade. Ugh!!

  10. Love your hair in your luncheon look. As a mom of two daughters I know it’s hard not to be protective. My oldest just married in September looking forward to grandchildren someday.

  11. I really like this top, and of course love the shoes. I do wonder, and have for a while since they started coming out – do you feel ‘under dressed’ in open toes shoes in February? Don’t get me wrong – I love ’em, I’ve tried on some and almost bought a couple of pair, but just couldn’t get beyond my toes and/or heels showing in winter :).
Grizzly Mama – love it, and yes, I’ve been known to be one as well. You can do a lot of things to me, but heaven help you if you mess with my child!
Thanks for the message today – just this week I’ve been seriously considering some “procedures” as I feel I’m looking a bit tired and older in the mirror. I know we’re our own worst critic, and my daughter thinks I’m crazy (she’s right most days). I have to remind myself that my inner beauty has to shine even if my outter self is less pretty than it used to be.

  12. We have 7 grandsons, 2 granddaughters and a new baby girl arriving in June. If you think you are “protective” of your children wait until Colt grows a little more. I want to fight every small or large battle for my grands. Even a perceived slight toward them and Papa has to hold me back! When my son was in junior high, certain young “ladies” would come near my son and the hair on the back of my neck would rise. It was my standard for his girlfriends. If that happened, I stood guard! Funny thing, My intuition was right every time! So trust yourself!!

  13. Hi Cyndi, I would have to agree with you about the momma bear…. my hubby also referred me to our daughter’s boyfriend as “protective as a momma bear with her children” as he put it, and it got the hint across to the young man. LOL
I love both outfits in today’s blog. You looked very feminine and the perfect hostess for meeting your son’s girlfriend.
Yes, we have plans this weekend as we will be traveling to Winchester, KY, tomorrow, as my hubby has a preaching engagement at Landmark Bpt. Ch Sunday, service and dinner afterwards with Pastor Muncie. I’m glad the weather is supposed to be warmer also for this weekend engagement. YAY
Have a great weekend and anxious for your Spring show! God Bless.

  14. I absolutely love your style. I’d love to see some styling ideas for women who don’t have the figure for leggings. Can the same tops still work without the skinny leg? I’m curious. I haven’t been able to make it work.

I ordered the adorable long, black/white, polka dot top I saw you wear with the chambray bottom and sleeves. It looked awesome on you. I just couldn’t make it work with fuller legged pants. And I just don’t have the legs for leggings.

    Thanks so much,

  15. So I will never outgrown the Mama Bear thing? My boys are going to be 14 and 17 next month (birthdays are 5 days apart with my husband’s between theirs!). Loving the spring preview today! Where did you get the shoes so I can keep an eye out for them to be back in stock? They look comfy!

  16. Was so happy that the top from last week was restocked, but went to order this morning at 8:30 a.m. and says it is temporarily out of stock. Wondered if that is correct?

  17. Ha!! I’d say grizzly! I saw a T – shirt yesterday that said “Mama Bear” and had to chuckle. Yep…and I’m an “older” grizzly” my baby is 39, then 41 and 46! One never gets finished being Mama Bear!
Cute outfits and shoes. Fun to see even though I can’t wear them. Have a Blessed Day.

  18. Hi Cyndi, We have 4 kids and 2 are married and our 7th grand baby will be here in about 2 months. They have been busy 🙂 we still have 2 grown kids at home. I am a very protective mama too.
I really enjoy your blog. You always look great.
I have an issue with these free hanging tops like you are styling here. I’m larger up top (D cup) and all these tops I’ve tried on just hang like a tent. I think they look terrible on me but they are so popular. I’m all about hiding the waistline but if these loose tops just hang they can make a person look larger. I’m really struggling with this style.

    1. Dee I think you’re smart to not wear this style top. I am not chesty so they work for me but I understand why they look different on you.
      Thanks for stopping by!
      Cyndi

  19. Glad to hear it was a good meeting. That’s always a good step! But inquiring minds want to know, is she fashionable? lol

  20. Grizzly mamas unite!! HA! so funny. Glad you liked your sons new girl 😉 your outfit is great. Have an awesome weekend 😉

  21. Cyndi.you always have such an inspiring message. .thank you..
look beautiful in the tunic top!!!I love the shoes too! I’m glad you enjoyed your lunch with your son and his girlfriend.

  22. Before clicking, I knew this had to be a Glamour Farms tunic! They have the most adorable ones! I love the sleeves on this one. I have a store credit with them-decisions, ha!

My son is 24 and I’ll never stop being protective. I believe God equipped us to be that way. Have a great weekend!

  23. I love these shoes! I just got them delivered yesterday…super cute!!! I have 3 sons-21,16,11…I will always be protective of my babies!:)

  24. Beautiful on you Cyndi! You wear tunics so well. I have never found one that looks good on me, so I stick to more fitted and shorter tops. Looking forward to the Spring series.

    1. I was thinking about you today!! You popped in my mind so I was just emailing to say hi! Hope you’re doing well. Are you still excising ?? What are you doing right now?? You’re my go to for exercise!
      Cyndi

  25. We all can be all grizzlies with our children. I do it too. I have three daughters. Thanks for the beautiful message.Bless you.

  26. I am so happy to have found your blog. You have blessed me already! Blessings to you from ND. I just turned 51 today and you have inspired me.

  27. Cyndi, Could Glamour Farms start carrying XS in their tops? I love so many of the ones I see on your site but I am an extra small, as I’m sure others are. Thanks! I look forward to your fashion tips and food for the soul everyday.

  28. Love wedge heels but I am curious if you would pair this pair with anything other than pants? Would the cut the leg off? (a big no no for shorter women)

  29. Happy Friday Cyndi! Love this post!! Yep I’ve been known to be over protective. I can’t imagine you a grizzly bear Momma though! Lol! Love this outfit & looking forward to the Spring fashion you & Jo-Lynn will bring us…and praying SPRING comes with it! Enjoy your weekend!
