Summer Fashion: Straw Handbag

It’s Monday and I don’t know about you but I’m starting off a little slow this morning. I guess it’s from a busy Mother’s Day!

My husband asked me what I wanted for Mother’s Day and I told him I wanted a new desk for my office. Of course I have to pick it out and I haven’t had time to do that yet.

I’m don’t want to spend a lot of money on it so I’m looking at this one from Ikea. I may order it today. Ikea deskI am also purchasing a new kitchen table. We need a larger kitchen table because we don’t have a dining room in our new home. I haven’t picked the table out yet but I think I have found my chairs at Arhaus. These are the cadence chairs and my sister has the same ones and I love them in her kitchen.

Now to some summer fashion! Summer will be here soon and I have been wanting to purchase a straw handbag to go with my shorts and maxi dresses.

These are some of my favorites. If you’re headed to the beach or a cruise a straw handbag is a great accessory to add to your packing list.

Summer Fashion: Straw Handbag

Jo-Lynne and I start  our summer fashion series June 1st so I’m looking ahead at some cute summer fashion.

I’m so honored that you have taken time out of your day to stop by my blog. If you don’t want to miss a post, you can sign up to receive my daily emails and you’ll never miss a thing. I’m also on FacebookPinterest and my favorite one, Instagram.

Beauty for the Heart~~But here is how God has shown his love for us. While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8

I don’t spend time in God’s word to check it off my to do list. I spend time in His word because I need it! It’s life to my soul.

I refuse to stay the way I was yesterday or the way I am today. I want to be more like Christ everyday. So I cling to grace.

Have a blessed day!

  1. I am also looking for a dining table, but I want a farm table, I love the chairs you have chosen as well as the IKEA desk. I would love to see the table you choose! I also love the straw bags. I agree with you I have to stay in God’s word because it is nourishment for my soul, I so want to be more Christ like!😀

  2. Hi Cyndi! I really enjoy your blog! But um…do you think you can find a few affordable straw purses for us? Yes, the purses you featured were adorable, but it’s hard to invest in a bag that 1) is straw, and 2) you only carry a very few months in the year.

  3. I just bought a larger dining table, kept my wooden old chairs and bought two of the ones you feature. They look great. Bought them here in Australia!

  4. Your blog is a bright spot of encouragement in my day! I’m going through a lot of major life change & loss, making this an important time to go to God constantly. Sometimes I do and sometimes I get distracted with anxiousness and fear. You remind me of what is important and that God wants my attention and presence. Thank you for that!

  5. We bought that desk for my 17 year old daughter last year. She loves it. It’s sturdy and has a lot of storage space. The top is very spacious .

  6. Cyndi, I am looking for a new dining table, too. It is SO hard to find a style that will go with the rest of my furniture, and not at an exorbitant cost!
I remember carrying a straw purse with flowers on it to church when I was a little girl! I thought it was beautiful!

  7. I am looking forward to hearing your message on Mother’s Day next week…I too dread this day each year..not because my mom has passed away but my parents divorced when I was young and I never saw my mom again…not when I graduated from high school or college…not when I got married or when my children were born…it’s a painful day with me spent thinking what might have been…my friends and family tell me what an awesome mom I am but I have done it on my own…and wish I had a role model…I cling to Christand share my concerns in prayer. He will never leave me.

  8. Your blog is so refreshing, thank you for sharing I love that desk and the chairs. I love your style! The straw purses are so cute.. I’m seeing one in my future. 🙂 I too, see a change in myself if I skip reading His word a day or two. We must stay in His word daily, just as we must shower and eat daily. Our spiritual self will grow weak if we do not! Have a blessed day today!!

  9. One thing about straw purses is that they can be really rough on clothes. Depending on how you carry them and where they fall on you hip, I have ruined several shirts due to the friction of the purse against the clothing. I love the look for summer but keep that in mind as you choose one to carry.

  10. “I refuse to stay the way I was yesterday or the way I am today. I want to be more like Christ everyday. So I cling to grace.” Thanks for sharing these words and the Bible verse. I think “GRACE” is such a beautiful word. Love the furniture you are thinking about getting. Have fun picking it all out.

  11. We have a similar desk from IKEA in my daughters room and have been really happy with it. It was a pain top to put together, but I was really surprised at the quality/sturdiness of it. I like the chairs too! And if you already have seen and used them at your sisters, you surely can’t go wrong there! 🙂

  12. I enjoyed the end where you said you spend time with God not to check off your to do list but rather that you need it. Just did my morning walk and having coffee and “need to do” devotions. I will change that thinking to spending time with God. Thank you for sharing about yourself and also making Christ the center of our lives.

  13. Cute chairs, but one suggestion before ordering. Always sit in a chair to sure it fits you and is comfortable. As a decorator, it’s easy to get swept away by a style that sings to us but can regret the purchase it if it’s not comfortable to sit in for an hour or so. I know many who have done that, so just suggesting you and your husband both sit in them for a bit, to make sure you both find them comfortable. (A taller person or a shorter person will find different areas of a chair that don’t ‘hit them’ in t right spot.) Sounds like you’re well on your way to settling in, have fun with it!

  14. We purchased those Arhaus chairs in black for our new home and really like them. Three years later and they are still in great shape. Happy shopping!

  15. My daughter has the dresser from that line. We love it. It looks much more expensive because of the slick finish, and it was fun to customize the look with new knobs. I picked out some beautiful knobs at Anthropology (Cost Plus World Market has good ones too) and that completed the look.

  16. My son has that desk in black, & my daughter has it in white. both have been very happy with their choice. Putting the desks together was quite a task, but worth it! Love your posts, by the way. Thanks for sharing a bit of yourself!

  17. Very nice post…Love the desk.. I like the purses that have a zipper on the top so nothing can spill out. Thank you for all your hard work. I am excited to see what is in store June 1st 🙂

  18. I love that you say that you “cling to Christ”. I am trying to learn not to cling to the past but to cling to Christ so he can make a new thing. Thanks for the post.

  19. My hubby decided he needs a desk at home and I already have one but it is too big and we saw the exact same desk you are looking at and thought maybe we’d get two of them for our office (so they match 😉 ) – if you buy, please post your opinion of the quality.

P.S. LOVE me a straw tote!!!!!

  20. I like that desk and the chairs!! Isn’t it fun picking out things for a new home? My son and daughter-in-law purchased their first home recently and she’s been so sweet include me in some of her decorating.

Yep….been shopping for the “perfect” straw purse. LOL I’m a teacher so I’m super excited that summer is coming.

Looking forward to the post on your Mother’s Day talk.
