How To Style A Utility Vest for Spring

I’m so excited to be joining Melissa, Shannon and Jo-lynne today as we each style a utility vest. I love having a piece of clothing in my wardrobe that I can style for multiple seasons.

I styled this utility vest this past winter with a sweater from Banana Republic. Today I’m styling this utility vest for spring although our weather has been cool enough lately, I could use the sweater. #comeonsummer

How To Style A Utility Vest for SpringThis spring espadrilles are on-trend and I love adding them to my outfits. Mine are sold out but I found some similar espadrilles. (I couldn’t find any under $100 but these Steve Madden platform sandals aren’t espadrilles but under $100. I think they are super cute!)

How To Style A Utility Vest for SpringI recently purchased these Joe’s jeans. I have been trying to find a pair of cropped jeans for summer. These were more than I wanted to pay for jeans (I believe this is the first time I have paid over $100) but they fit me the best and I felt you all might be tired of my frayed hem jeans that I wear all the time. I’m wearing a size 28 in these jeans.

  1. I really like your joe’s jeans, and went to purchase them but saw “dry clean” in the descriptions. Do you really dry clean them or have you tried washing them and putting them in the dryer? I love them and would be willing to pay what I feel is quite a bit for the right jeans, but don’t want to have to dry clean jeans. Really enjoy your blog and have purchased quite a few things you’ve modeled. Thanks so much.

    1. Hey Shelley, I didn’t see that until you mentioned it. I checked the tag and it does say Dry Clean or you can wash but turn them inside out (I do this with all my jeans) and then let them air dry. I have done that and they are fine!!
      Hope that helps,
      Cyndi

  2. I love your blog, but for us AOL users, I thought you should know that your site crashes my computer every day. Sadly, I’m always hesitant to click on your links because of this.

  3. I love this outfit on you. So cute! I’ve been looking for a pair of cropped jeans too. I’m going to check these out.

On another note, I’m not receiving your email posts. I signed up again last week, and all was fine until today. I looked you up online to find this post. Can you suggest what I might do? I look forward to your blog everyday. Thank you! 🙂

  4. Love your outfit. I have a similar vest from JCP, but thought of it as a more fall/winter look. I love seeing it with the spring look and the espadrille wedges.

  5. ahhh I love this outfit! This is so me. I’ve been on the hunt for the perfect utility vest, this one is the winner! and I love those jeans! Perfect outfit, absolutely adorable! As usual, I love your shoes!! xo

  6. Love this casual look. I purchased the frayed hem jeans and LOVE them…so soft and comfortable!!

Thank you for all you do to keep women over 40 (and in my case, over50!) feeling beautiful inside and out!

  7. Hi there Cyndi – Love the utility vest. I just ordered one and was excited to see the post today with styling options.

I am so understanding with your move – I actually relocated from NC to Texas in June 2015 – moved into a small rental, put stuff in storage and thought I’d wait a year or more to get settled in my children’s pastor position and familiar with the community. However, in December I felt like I needed to start looking – found one house that I though had the “bones” for a great home, but it was too much of a fixer upper for me at this point in life. BUT, that put me in touch with a great realtor & within 1 month we found my new home….a charming 1950’s totally remodeled home with loads of charm. SO, I have moved twice in 9 months and while I’m grateful for this home God has provided, it’s so much work. Getting my house ready to sell in NC, getting it staged & on the market was tons of work; packing up to move; moving across country had it’s challenges, but I am very grateful.

Bless you as you pack, move and get settled.

  8. Cyndi,
I so enjoyed watching your Mother’s Day testimony! So very inspirational. I know the Holy Spirit guided you in this. I related as I too was divorced when I was young with two young sons, one was five and one was one, after my husband had committed adultery. and left me. But, the Lord blessed me with a Godly husband who treated my children as his own. Ain’t God good?!!! We have been married 32 years!
Thank you for all the inspiration you give to women. You ALWAYS look beautiful! God’s light shines through you!
I wanted to ask if I might borrow your example of Gripping His hem cloth to use with the women at my church. I am the WMU director there. I believe it is such a wonderful example, that so many could benefit from it. I would give credit to you!!!
God bless you as you continue to serve Him!!!

    In His love, Debbie

  9. I like how you are collaborating with both Jo-Lynne and Shannon! It’s neat to see how three women with unique figures and assets can style one practical spring piece. Great idea and teamwork!

  10. I love yours and jo Lynne’s vest, ,I had bought a khaki one and it looks like I’m ready to go fishing. It’s too stiff and puckers at drawstring. Oh well!

  11. Love the vest look for Spring! Also wanted to tell you that I enjoyed watching you give your testimony. What struck me was what you said about releasing your adult children fully to the Lord. I’m struggling with keeping my mouth closed about my 23 year dating a guy that is a great person but my gut tells me he’s not the one and she’s trying to make it okay. I fire myself too!

  12. Great look, Cyndi! I’m also loving the style of your vest. Mine is way long in the back, I’ve never actually noticed the length on other ones. The jeans look great on you too. Joe’s is one of my favorites. Super comfy and usually fit very well.

  13. I am so happy to be collaborating with you today! I LOVE the way you styled your vest. The cognac-colored sandals and handbag look great with the green vest, and I really like your jeans. I may have to check out some Joe’s Jeans. I have never tried them before.

  14. Cyndi, this is one of my “go to” outfits!! I love wearing my vest over a white tee shirt and jeans. Those sandals are so cute. My ankles are too skinny though, I don’t know if they would look as good on me.

    xx-S

  15. Lovely outfit. So simple, but that’s exactly the beauty of it. I love your shoes and bag together-where is the bag from? I’ve been looking for one exactly like it!
PS-first time I post on here-your blog is great.

  16. You look perfectly casual-chic! I love those sandals. I may need some. And I like how your utility vest is more cropped. And also, YAY Joe’s Jeans! They were my first pair of designer denim. I’ve been sold ever since.
