22 Days of Summer Fashion-Maxi Dress

Welcome back to my 22 Days of Summer Fashion! What would summer be, without a maxi dress? I found this one at Old Navy and the color is called darling clementine.

I never know when I shop at Old Navy if I’m going to find anything I like. Some of their clothes are too thin or too short but this maxi dress was a winner.

22 Days of Summer Fashion-Maxi Dress 22 Days of Summer Fashion-Maxi DressI added this necklace from Nordstrom. It’s turquoise although it looks like light blue in my pictures. My bracelet is sold out but this one is similar.

I’m all about comfy and casual when it comes to summer aren’t you?

22 Days of Summer Fashion-Maxi DressI needed a medium in this dress but the armholes are a little bigger than I like. I’m going to either have them taken in a little or I could add a coral tank top. I’m wanting to wear this when I’m in Cuba to a church service so I will probably have them taken in because it’s going to be hot!

Beauty For the Heart~~I love adding accessories to my outfits, I think they make them pop. But the most important accessory I want to have is love.

Scripture says these remain: faith, hope and love but the greatest is love, and 1 John 4:7 reminds us, “Dear friends, let us love one another, because love comes from God.”

Remember today to show love and especially tell those closest to you how much you love them.

Have a blessed day!

  1. I purchased this dress in black….Love it…The armholes are a little large for me as well..I tried the small and it fit but the waist was too high so I kept the Medium… The dress will be worn many times this summer!

  2. Hi Cyndi,

Could you please do a tutorial on how you style your hair this way? Mine is similar to yours and I would love to know how you style it. A video would be great! 🙂

  3. Could you just stop looking so darn good in EVERYTHING! Lol. God helped me with jealousy but if I was going to be jealous it might be of you. 😀 That’s just my way of giving you a super big compliment! Btw I’m a preacher’s wife too; admiring you in more ways than one! Love ya! I feel like we are friends….haha!

  4. I love maxis! They are so feminine and can be dressed up or down. This is so pretty. Also, I feel they are flattering to any age. This is a home run!

  5. Absolutely beautiful on you! I have a couple of maxi dresses, but I never wear them. When I get them on, I feel very frumpy. I am 5’5 1’2″, 130 lbs. Does anyone else have this problem? Maybe I am not tall enough for a maxi???

  6. Coral is my favorite color! I’ve been wearing it for many years! For the petite ladies inquiring about the maxi look on them, I’m only 5′ and have a few maxi skirts. I love them and find they are flattering. Just my opinion but I find them without needing to be hemmed if found in the petite dept. I just recently bought a few things in Dress Barn for the first time. I would definitely check out their petite department, ladies!

  7. So funny, I was looking at that dress online at ON, then lo and behold, here it is! I ordered it and I’m sure I’ll need the armholes taken in too, as I’m not that big on top. I hope I’ll look half as good as Cyndi!

  8. I was just thinking of checking Old Navy out tomorrow. My daughter and I doing a girl’s day. I love this maxi dress. It looks great on you. Just wondering, are still doing Stitch Fix? I havven’t seen you style anything from them in a while and was just wondering. This weekend’s hot, humid weather in KY should get you ready for your Cuba trip!!!! Have a great day.

  9. I also am wondering about the length of this cute dress? Usually, maxi’s are way too long on me! I’m 5’3″. What do you think, too long or just right?
    Thank you!

  10. I have the same feeling about Old Navy. It’s really hit and miss, but worth it to try. That dress looks great on you. 🙂 I love comfy and casual when it gets hot.

  11. I love this outfit! You look beautiful! I love monogrammed items and I just have to ask about that bag. It has me puzzled since the first time you posted it. Usually when using script monogram, the initials are first, last (the largest), middle. It looks like you have first, middle, last (like when a monogram is in block form.) I’m just curious….Obviously, you can have it any way you like so I’m not being critical! Gorgeous bag….I have been thinking of ordering one since you originally posted it! 🙂

  12. I love navy, and coral, especially in the summer. I wear a lot of black and navy just seems to be a great replacement color in the warmer months. Also, I was recently able to attend a small conference at work, and we have stylist who met with each of us one-on-one and she suggested I wear more navy as it is a softer dark neutral to wear as we “age”. I might have been offended if she had been younger than me :). Also, I was an image consultant when I was younger and coral is considered a “universal” color – meaning it typically looks good on most everyone. i.e. great color is dressing a group, say like bridesmaids, etc.
Anyway, I love both colors, and bright pick, which you shared a lot of and it’s one of my best colors! Keep doing what you’re doing because I think you are hitting it out of the park!

    1. good grief at the typos…! gotta slow down and quit having such “fat fingers” on the keyboard!

  13. This ensemble looks fabulous on you but as for me I’m on the fence on maxi dresses. I’m 5’4 and 130 pounds and fear that if I were to sport a maxi, it may give me a frumpy appearance. Do you think maxis can be worn by shorter people? Should they be worn with flats or heels?

  14. Cyndi I have soooooo much navy in my closet and it IS my favorite color, so that’s probably why I’m always in blue! Love the coral maxi……I have the same problem as you, everything is too big for me on top! Enjoy your day and Thank You for sharing your stories and letting us into your life ❤️

  15. I have tried on several tops and dresses from Old Navy recently and ALL had giant arm holes.. Why is this?? Nothing I liked enough to have it altered but this dress I might would consider! It looks like a winner and a beautiful color.

  16. I love this dress on you. You look amazing in this color. You’re pure perfection from head to toe.
I like brighter colors in the summer. I do have several items in coral, Turquoise, and red. I do love navy blue, especially with white.

  17. Very pretty dress. I’m wondering if you can style a few summer tops & dresses with short sleeves for those of us who don’t have beautiful arms like you. 🙂 Currently I’m working on toning my arms but until I feel comfortable, I sort of stick with short sleeves.
Love reading your blog every day & seeing what you are styling! And it’s wonderful to read Beauty for the Heart, gives me a lift every morning! Thank you!

  18. You look so pretty! I wish I was tall enough to pull off a maxi! I tend to wear a lot of coral, hot pink and turquoise. 😊

  19. That dress looks darling and I love the accessories!!! You wear jewel tones so well! I like to wear a lot of the same colors. I absolutely agree about Old Navy…you can just never tell. It’s very hit or miss. (almost like TJ Maxx and Marshalls) Have a great day Cyndi!

  20. I have yet to try the maxi dress trend. I’m short, so I’m afraid I’ll look even shorter. Plus, I’m a bit of a clutz so I can see myself tripping on the fabric. But, it does look good on you so I’ll have to at least try one one sometime!

  21. Favorite colors: bold colors – orange, yellow, turquoise, dark pink – not light pink. I am enjoying the Summer Fashion Challenge. Thank you for all of your fashion ideas and your words of spiritual encouragement.

  22. Do you do gel nails? They are so pretty. Shellac is what I have been doing for some time and I love the color you use

  23. I love coral clothing, I have green eyes, so green and purple are probably my favorites, other than jeans I seldom wear navy..

I will often say the same about Old Navy, not always the best fabric quality. Then again I have 2 pair of yoga pants that I got at Old Navy years ago and they still feel like new.

That dress looks awesome on you.

  24. I would also like to know what nail polish you are using for your nails and toes. I think you posted it before but I cannot locate either. Thanks very much! You always look so cute!

  25. How tall are you again? Trying to decide if I want the tall so it is a tad longer. I am 5’6 but with curves I know things fit different lol

  26. Love the dress! I have done a search on your blog trying to find where you told the color of toe nail polish you use. I’m pretty sure you did–and I’m not just dreaming that! Could you with give me the link to that post or just tell me the color? Thank you.

  27. Love the dress on you, especially with your accessories.
I noticed that this is the second dress this week that isn’t lined on the bottom. Do you wear a slip? Have you worn your dresses in front of a door with light shining from behind? I don’t have a slip yet, but I read on another style blogger’s website that you’d be amazed how many people think their dresses are ‘thick enough’, but in the bright light they are not. Anyway, I’m looking for a good slip just for this reason! I don’t need a shaper (which seems to be everywhere), just a good, no-static extra layer slip if anyone has suggestions!

    1. You made me smile with your comment. When my daughters were growing up, they knew the routine: I always had them walk out in the front yard in the sun before we left for church so I could see if they needed a slip with their dress or skirt! And, you are right: often women do not realize how “see-through” their skirts might be. The standing in the sunlight is a fail-proof test! 🙂

  28. I was thinking about what you said in the email about getting stuck on a color—sometimes I think it’s the retail stores—they tend to carry the same colors thus that’s what we end up buying!!
This dress is spectacular Cyndi—and taking the armholes in is an easy fix—I think that’s the perfect solution!

  29. I love this dress, especially the color. Everything always looks wonderful on you. Just keep the outfits coming It gives me a lot a good ideas. I love it.
    Thank You

  30. This looks so great on you! I love maxis in the summer. I will even just wear them around the house because they’re so comfortable. I adore that bracelet too, so pretty!

  31. I love this! I actually tried it on in the store a couple of weeks ago and found the same thing to be true – that the armholes would need to be taken in. At the time I had my girls with me and didn’t want to think about it or mess with it so hung it back up. But seeing it on you, really makes me rethink that! So pretty on you!

  32. I love bright colors and clothes you don’t have to fuss with a lot in the summer. You look great and that color is amazing on you.

  33. LOVE the color! Decided that I LOVE orange and coral and this is just recently. I DON”T care personally for navy and like to keep that color limited to my jeans. I will say that that dress is adorable but I probably would not have tried it on if I had not seen you styling it first. It’s amazing how things will look a certain way on a hanger and I pass it over only to see someone else wearing it and think….I really need to try that on cause it’s cute on. This is usually the case with dresses – esp a shorter swing style dress

  34. It’s a great color on you but your right about Old Navy, although it’s reasonably priced they don’t always have the best quality or selection. Not to mention, I am short and it’s harder to find a maxi dress in petite. Have a great day!
