Do Not Lose Heart

Therefore we do not become discouraged [spiritless, disappointed, or afraid]. Though our outer self is [progressively] wasting away, yet our inner self is being [progressively] renewed day by day.Every Sunday my hope is to encourage you. I know some of you have had a difficult week. The journey is sometimes hard.

I imagine I’m looking at you face to face and saying, DO NOT LOSE HEART! This is a momentary affliction. It may not feel that way, I know, but we have to remember this is not our home.

I love the way the Amplified Version says 2 Corinthians 4:16-18 AMP, “Therefore we do not become discouraged (utterly spiritless, exhausted, and wearied out through fear). Though our outer man is [progressively] decaying and wasting away, yet our inner self is being [progressively] renewed day after day.

For our light, momentary affliction (this slight distress of the passing hour) is ever more and more abundantly preparing and producing and achieving for us an everlasting weight of glory [beyond all measure, excessively surpassing all comparisons and all calculations, a vast and transcendent glory and blessedness never to cease!],

Since we consider and look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen; for the things that are visible are temporal (brief and fleeting), but the things that are invisible are deathless and everlasting.”

This life is temporal and although it can be overwhelming at times, I pray we will look to Jesus and know that He is with us. There’s nothing that we go through that is a surprise to Him.

Remember He is King of the World and he holds it all!

Have a blessed Sunday friends!

  1. Timely again….like Donna said above,
I was a part of my friend’s funeral services this weekend after she had a long battle with 3 different types of cancer over the course of 7 years. She fought hard but in the end, her life is just beginning now. She is with Jesus and that is good, so this verse is a great reminder of the fact that our life here is not going to last but for Believers we have an eternal hope.

  2. 2Cor. 4:18 is one of my many favorite verses.. Verse 18(KJV) While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are “ETERNAL”. It is such a relief to know we have ETERNAL things … Things of this world pass away, brake down, rust, and vanish, BUT …. Heaven is Eternal, God is Eternal, our rewards are Eternal and one day we will have an Eternal body with No pain, No suffering, No memories of things of this world, just an Eternity with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ ! We as saved individuals are Blessed just because of this!!

  3. Cyndi , this was so perfectly timed for me. My mother is in her last stages of life and now I feel equipped to handle what each day forward may bring. Thank you and may God bless you always.

  4. I look so forward to your encouraging words daily. I’m going through some dark days with depression and it is a lot of hard work. Please pray for our family as we are estranged from our daughter and our two grandsons. I pray for the relation to be somewhat healed.
I’m very distraught as we haven’t seen them in seven months.
    It is a marital problem.
Thank you so veryuch for your uplifting daily blogs!!

  5. Blessings Cyndi, Thank you for your taking the time to keep us dressed in style and for keeping us blessed by His Word. I just love reading your blog daily and know this takes a lot of time from your day, so Thank You…. As a 61 year old with 4 children and 8 grandchildren, there has been hard times as well as good times. But looking back as our bodies get weaker (and not so firm) our Spirit gets stronger with each trial. Praise be to God for all His blessings flow……

  6. Thank you as always Cyndi !!!!! Our Pastor had a fabulous sermon today on prayer. He had groups of 4 chairs on each side of the platform. He then invited and encouraged us to come up, occupy the chairs, and quietly pray in our little groups as he preached. It was amazing. As one group would get up and silently go back to their places, another 4 would be ready to sit down and pray . I have never experienced anything like that in my 44 years as a Christian. After the sermon he said how much it had fueled and inspired him to preach. We will be doing this again next Sunday as he continues a mini series on prayer. It really has focused me for the next week and new season to come. Phew !!! That was WAY more than I was going to share . LOL Be blessed and be a blessing today ,all of my sisters !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  13. Thank you for this. It’s certainly been a week from hell for my family… But we are only standing by the pure grace of God, all of the prayers of friends near and far, and His Word. This is a “gripping His hem” moment for me and someday st hats all I can do, other times I am fighting the enemy. You just never know what a ‘suddenly’ moment will bring… But we are grateful for how our Savior holds us and carries us through the storm.
Thank you for being a source of light.
