How To Take 10 Years Off This Week

Hello friends! Yesterday I mentioned that I shared in my talk over the weekend, How To Take 10 Years Off This Week.

So many of you asked about it, that I thought I would share the tips with you today. These are super easy but I believe they really work!

How-to-take-10-years-off-this-week

1. Exfoliate your skin-As we age, our skin dulls. Exfoliation is a must. Use my easy coconut oil scrub once a week and your skin will thank you.

2. Cut some bangs-As we get older bangs become important. Not only can they hide our wrinkles but they soften our face and give us a more youthful appearance.

3. Polish your toes-Aging can change our toenails. To keep them looking their best in your sandals and peep toe boots, make sure they are manicured and polished.

4. Pick up a “trendy” accessory-Accessories are game changers for women over 40. Add some trendy jewelry, handbag or shoes to your outfit and you will instantly look younger.

5. Pick pink for your pout-Dark color lipsticks age us so lighten up your look with a soft pink lipcolor. I use this lipcolor.

6. Use a Brow pencil-Eyebrows thin as we age so make sure you add some brow color to your eyebrows. Don’t draw a line. Use eyeshadow or a good brow pencil and fill them in. Don’t over pluck your eyebrows. I love this brow pencil.

7. Slim down your eyeliner-It’s best to leave the cat eyes and thick eyeliner to younger ladies. Too much eyeliner draws attention to the lines around our eyes.

8. Lighten up your foundation-It’s important to use a good foundation that matches your natural skin color. Remember we are going for a natural look as we age. I use this foundation.

9. Slip on heels-Heels (even a slight heel) elongate us and gives a slimmer look. Wedges are a great heel that are easier to wear.

10. Wear shapewear-Shapewear is our friend. I rarely go without a cami or tank under my tops. Lumps and bumps can show through your tops (always check your back) and your pants. Shapewear smooths and helps us look our best.

Lastly, I showed a picture of what I was wearing yesterday. The tunic is from Glamour Farms but they have very few left so that’s why I haven’t styled it on my blog. I’m wearing a small. Use discount code graceandbeauty357 for $10 off.

Beauty For the Heart~~Jude 1:2 says, May God give you more and more mercy, peace, and love.

  • Mercy-If God gave me what I deserve, yikes. I’m thankful he loves me and gives me more and more mercy.
  • Peace-couldn’t we all use some peace? I want peace in my home, in my church and definitely in this world.
  • Love-I’m not talking about loving the people that are easy to love. But Lord help us love the unloveable!

Have a blessed day ladies full of mercy, peace and love!

  1. I like the way you get right to the point . I am a young nearly 70 (lol) and I am not going to give up my bangs. I appreciate all your tips😍

  2. I have purchased the shapewear camis from Glamour Farms and they are very comfortable and I reverse the necklines as one side is round and one is v neck. I have also layered them and worn them as regular wear under a sweater or blazer. My only gripe is that I am 4′ 11″ and Glamour Farms currently does not size for petites.

  3. First I would like to say I enjoy your site. However, I am 61 and I wonder am I too old to where some of the styles you share? I like to look nice but, I do not want to look like I am trying to dress under my age. Plus, I like my hair long, but I have noticed all the ladies in our choir my age and older have all cut their hair short.Help!

    1. Jan, I am 60 and though I may not wear all the items Cyndi models I may wear a few. I try to buy clothes that suit my body type (short and puffy!) and that will elongate me. Often times that is black on black with a bright 3/4 length sleeve or white on white with a bright scarf to draw the focus to my face.

I would suggest you go to a high end store and talk with a sales associate that is in the same age bracken then try on clothes and figure out what suits your body type, life style and activity level. you are obligated to buy anything, so you can take what you learned and go to any store in search of similar items.

      I hope this helps. 🙂

  4. I LOVE BANGS and have been wearing bangs my whole life. I have tried to grow them out a few times just to have them cut back in. For me bangs definitely soften my face and bring attention to my eyes. They also disguise lines and breakouts. Not everyone can wear bangs, but if you can they are a game changer!!

  5. Bangs?! Hmmm…I don’t think they are for everybody. Have you seen when Kathie lee Gifford gets bangs cut? It looks terrible. And she’s way over 50!!

  6. I would say lighten your hair color. So many women as we age, keep a darker shade and it ages them (IMHO). Exfoliating your face YES!!! Makes such a big difference with your make-up.

  7. OOOOOO no. That tunic is not my taste at all. I don’t think those colors compliment anyone’s skin tone. Pass. I agree with several other comments on the length. It looks like a dress. Too long for shorter gals. Tunics should hit just a tad below your tush. No longer than that. Then it’s too much fabric flowing down your body. That should be paired with tights and a boot or a flat. Not with jeans. JMO. Have a great day!

    1. As a “shorter gal” myself, I completely agree about the length of the currently trendy tunics. Much too long for me, and generally, too much fabric around my midsection. Many of them–though not all–can tend to look like maternity tops. BTDT, lol!

  8. Your recommendations are always spot on. My eyeliner, primer, foundation, and now lipstick are all from your blog. Who would have thought Maybelline would have the perfect lipstick color?!! Just bought it today. THANKS.

  9. I purchased the Warm Me Up lipstick by Maybelline….For my $5.00 it is a great alternative to the Brave by MAC I always use…I ended up buying another one to have in my purse and one in the car…just for touch ups!

    1. BTW…I totally agree on cutting some bangs…I have been toying with the idea for a few months to go back to bangs…my hair stylist keeps telling me no….I said it would soften and it’s cheaper than botox…not that there is anything wrong with doing botox…I was just being sarcastic. Maybe I need a new stylist!!

      1. Is this lipstick a warm color? In some of the pictures I’ve seen online of the product, it looks more pink (which doesn’t look good on me). Thanks.

  10. Great tips! You’ve inspired me to make a few changes. I enjoy your blog and find you very encouraging. Thank you!

  11. I wish I was able to be there and listen to what you had to say, I’m sure the woman really enjoyed your appearance,
Have a Blessed night and tomorrow!
    Deb B.

  12. Great reminder to all of us ladies as we gracefully age. I have to say the right bangs are key to softening and framing our face as well as light soft lip colors. I now make my own coffee ground/coconut oil face exfoliating mix and what a difference. All 10 were important for us! Love your blog!

  13. I would like to know the name of your shape wear also? Can your coconut ,mixer be use more then once a week? Thank you for sharing today.

  14. You look absolutely adorable!! So glad you are branching out and sharing your gift through “speaking” and not just writing!! You rock, girlfriend!!

  15. Hi Cyndi, What differentiates a tunic from a dress? Being 50, I hate my knees, so I always try to get dresses at or below the knee. But I don’t want to look like I’m wearing a dress over a pair of pants or leggings – what’s the length guide for a tunic?

  16. Thanks for the tips. I use the IT cosmetics foundation and love it. You are such an inspiration. I have started trying to use your fashion tips and dressing better. It makes me feel better about myself. Love your Beauty from the Heart, too. After all, it’s all about Him!

    1. That’s exactly what I was thinking. I have gotten botox several times and it is great, makes a huge difference, but it is expensive and I have to do it about 3 times a year. I’m getting some bangs 😉

      1. I hear you!! I have also done the botox route…it is expensive! I am taking the plunge also…not that I may stop the botox….just maybe I won’t have to go in as often.

  17. I too wear the IT foundation and love it It gives me a dewy look without looking oily. And it is long wearing. I am almost 50 with hot flashes and it last thru that. And someone mentioned white teeth. I found a product called Plus White. I have gotten so many compliments on my teeth since I started using it (not that you asked for MY advice hehe). I love your blog Cyndi. Keep up the beautiful inspiring posts.

  18. Great tips! I’m curious about the shapewear you prefer as well. I’ve bought several pieces from Glamour Farms and love them and have thought about buying theirs.

    Thanks!

  19. Hi Cyndi,

I’d love to know what lip liner you like? My lips are aging a bit and I feel like a liner still helps define them but would love recommendation for a lip toned, pinky color that isn’t too dark or too light.

    Thank you,

    Lisa

  20. Aw Cyndi, so enjoyed this article you had today. Great tips. I am trying to fight this aging process but still dressing with class. I send some of your pics and ideas to my two daughters who are 34 and 38. I do use your ideas too and enjoy. Thanks again for sharing, Belinda Green in South Louisiana

  21. Great post! Your tips are always helpful and appreciated! I also really like the black cold shoulder shirt too in the picture from today’s post. Where can I find this one?

  22. Thanks for sharing these great tips! I’d also love to hear/see how you do your eyeliner & info about those shaper camis that you mentioned.
You are such a blessing in my life, Cyndi!
    Karen G.

  23. Aw, thanks Cyndi! Great tips!

I would like to know two things:

How do you feel about teeth whitening? (Like with over the counter stuff)
How do you apply your eyeliner? I never mastered that (at all!).

Thanks an have a blessed day.

    Sara

  24. I wear my hair in Angeled bob with no bangs as I am not a big fan of bangs , but have wondered if they would soften my look at age of 42.
Tips are great and agree with the no thick eyeliner

  25. Thanks for the tips. I am over 50 just a little. Ha. Every little tip helps. I enjoy your style of modesty. I look forward to the fall collection of styles coming soon. Thanks for using the gifts God has blessed you to share with others.

  26. Great tips, Cyndi! I agree on all points!!! I would have loved to have attended your presentation this weekend! Did you video it? If so, would you consider sharing on the blog?

  27. Hello Cyndi,

Can you please show and give information on the tank and cami shape wear you use.

    Thank you!

    1. Hi, Patricia.
In past post, Cyndi has mentioned that she loves the camis from Glamor Farms. Not sure if she is still wearing them or if she has found new favorites, but Glamor Farms has several types to choose from on their website. I haven’t tried them yet, but they look like they would be comfortable and still effective at smoothing those bumps we are trying to avoid.

  28. What about the black cold-shoulder top in your title pic? I’ve been looking for one of those forever and can’t find one. Where is it from?

    1. I really like the black cold shoulder shirt too……I remembered you styled it on the blog but I can’t seem to find it.

  29. Thank you so much for sharing these tips. I will certainly use them. I am excited to see your post for Fall! I am Thankful that God’s Mercy is new every day Blessings
