Fall Fashion-The Sleeveless Blazer

Hello and welcome back to my 26 Days of Fall Fashion! Today I’m styling a sleeveless blazer (it’s also called a sleeveless vest or coat).

I have seen sleeveless blazers quite a bit this fall and I wanted to try styling one myself. They can be styled with white blouses and turtlenecks but I chose to wear a black top and black jeans.

Fall Fashion-The Sleevless BlazerThis sleeveless blazer is from Target and is reasonably priced.

Fall Fashion-The Sleevless BlazerStatement earrings are on trend for fall so I added these from Stella & Dot.

My black jeans are NYDJ from Nodstrom. They are comfortable and I really like them but if you’re looking for a comparable pair that is less expensive, these black Wit & Wisdom jeans have great reviews and are $68.

sleeveless-coat-15This sleeveless blazer would look good with a black turtleneck, dark jeans and a pair of leopard print heels for winter.

Beauty For the Heart~~Let your adorning be the HIDDEN person of the heart with the imperishable beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which in God’s sight is very precious. 1 Peter 3:4

The HIDDEN person is a woman who has been transformed from the inside out by God’s spirit. The HIDDEN person is who you are deep down.

Are you filled with love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self control? Or are you letting bitterness, anger, jealousy and pride fill your heart?

Begin today with Psalm 51:10, Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me.

Have a blessed day!

  1. Cyndi,
I loved this look when I saw it and ordered the vest on line. I wore it for the first time today for church and got a lot of compliments. I wore a black long sleeve turtleneck, black pants, and wedge leopard print booties. I wore my gold and black Kendra Scott jewelry, and it all looked great together. The camel vest looks great with leopard print. Thanks for inspiring me!!

I have to say I am beside myself with some of the rude comments I have read. I have always been the type to come to the defense of my family and friends, so I couldn’t help myself but to respond to a couple of those comments. Oops!!

    Much love and respect,
    Dorian

  2. Hi Cindi,

Love this outfit!!!!! I went and bought one from target yesterday and the fit is fabulous. I think it will also look great with all winter white underneath. I wsh they would start putting some of that color out, I’m ready to buy that for it. Thank you for all you do.

  3. Late posting – Yesterday was a VERY busy day for me. I really, really like this look! So fall-ish, and yet with the short sleeves and open toe shoes would work in the seemingly never ending heat wave. That would be a great Friday work look OR add black pants or skirt and it’s a great work look any day. I do wish it came in a petite length though…I tried it on and it was really long on me, BUT I’m heading to Nashville in a couple of weeks shopping with my daughter and will be on the lookout for something similar. Thank you for this edgy look! BTW – your hair looks GREAT! I love it longer and a bit less “fixed” looking. I think overly “fixed” hair ages women – but that just IMO. 🙂

  4. Never seen one before I really like it. Your style is so unique and so well balanced. I look forward to you and your quotes every day. Thank you so much,!!!

  5. Hi cyndi,
I bought a similar camel color sleeveless vest from the Gap but I was wondering if this is to be worn indoors or outdoors. Thank you

  6. Hi Cyndi,

You look great today and your hair looks wonderful. I am very envious and wish I had that much hair to work with. All the “constructive criticism” really wears me out. Some ladies out there just need to find something better to do with their free time. Everyone knows there are many options with clothing, whether it be high or low. You should wear what makes you happy and let everyone find something at their price level that they are comfortable with. You are always a joy to look at each day and we all appreciate and look forward to your Beauty for The Heart verse of the day.

    Many blessings to you.

  7. Oh my gosh this looks so nice! I love the look on you! I’ve tried other sleeveless blazers and find it has to hang just right or on my big bust it pops out to the side and looks more like wings. Usually something with more of a knit fabric works better for me. Love how you put it over a short sleeved shirt. So stylish!

  8. You look adorable! I’m not sure if I’ll add one of these vests to my wardrobe this year, but thanks for showing us the option. Regarding the priciness of the outfit, I think you did a great job of showing some inexpensive things, combined with designer pieces. It’s pretty easy to find less expensive options for the handbag, shoes, and jeans, so someone could recreate this look for much less. I find that your blog suits my budget better than many others.

  9. I really like the black and camel! Very classy look! Love the jewelry with it, too! I’m always looking for jackets/vests/sweaters, etc… to complete the look and this one looks like a good one! Thanks for all of your great posts. They really inspire!!

  10. You mentioned your hair on yesterday’s post. You have a lot of hair! I think it flatters you most a little shorter and pulled back from your face makes you look younger! That said, my hairdresser tells me never to complain about my thick hair as so women struggle with thinning hair. You have gorgeous hair!

  11. First, thanks for being such a blessing to so many women. Truly an inspiration. As for this outfit I have mixed emotions. Love the all black and camel look but not this sleeveless coat, it is to “medical” looking. Clothes I choose have to have a useful criteria, i.e. comfort, warmth, business fit, and this just doesn’t seem to have much of a use. Also, the booties just make the hem of the pant look sloppy, perhaps if you rolled the hem like you usually do it would look cleaner. Anyway, while I’m not a big fan of this outfit I am a big fan of you. Love your heart and your gift for sharing love in this world. Now that’s useful and beautiful 🙂

    1. I don’t think she put this out for critiquing if you don’t like it, keep your opinions to yourself. Goodness!!!

  12. Oh Sweet Cyndi, There seems to lots of constructive criticism on your Blog today. Your Beauty for the Heart Scripture and message is one that never wears out and is an “outfit” we should all put on everyday! BTW I think you and your outfit are adorable! Thank you for all your hard work!
Hugging you in my spirit today! 😉

  13. Love it but I’d have to try it on first. I appreciate your time putting things together. I’m also curious about scarves. I started following you when I thought I was in a rut and needEd to get more on trend. I guess I need a “don’t wear this unless you absolutely love it” post!!!

  14. Hi Cyndi,
I love this and have just tried one on in a local store in my town with my daughter. It looks classy, only downside my daughter likes it, which means it will live in her wardrobe and I will have to ask to borrow it!! 😂
Great style as always Nicky 😀

  15. I have purchase a black sleeveless jacket/vest from Banana Republic…would love to see you style a black one.

I really like the camel color and I think adding either a leopard print belt or scarf would help pull the colors together. I do agree with you with the leopard print heels. I purchased a camel color sweater/poncho from White House Black Market…I always receive compliments on it..very out of my comfort box but wear it with a little leopard .

  16. Cyndi, I think this outfit is beautiful & classy. And I live black and camel together. Another great Beauty For the Heart!

    Have a blessed day!

  17. Love your style & blog. Unfortunately, this long sleeveless vest isn’t for me. It takes me a while to get into the new trends. Maybe by next fall ill like it. lol.

  18. Hi Cyndi, I love your blog and most of your outfits. Like the poncho you styled the day before yesterday, it was FAB!
I have to say, this one I don’t like. To me, you look like you’re wearing a coat that a hairdresser or make-up stylist would wear in the shop, at work. I think you look SO much better in lots of other clothes.
Thank you for your posts and tips though, I find them very very inspiring. (A faithful reader from the UK)

  19. You look so darn cute in this outfit! I appreciate the work you put into this blog so very much. Although it looks like pure fun I hear you saying today that it has drudgery just like every job. Thank you for helping us find beauty on the outside but especially the Grace, Love and Mercy of our Heavenly Father for the inside.
Now I have a question: are scarves out this season? I haven’t seen many in what you and Jo-Lynne are styling. Just when we all perfected our collections….say it isn’t so.

  20. Love the Beauty for the Heart posts – I cherish those. Thank you.

It would have been interesting to see the blazer paired with a longer-sleeved top, as the black t-shirt sleeves seem a bit disproportionate to the length of the blazer. Cute concept, though and fabulous jeans!

  21. I like this a lot. I wouldn’t have chosen it, I don’t think, but I really like it on you. I think the open toe booties work with the short sleeve top. With a long-sleeve turtleneck, I’d definitely do closed booties, but I expect you would too. I like how you wore it over an all black outfit. Stunning!! xo

  22. Do you realize your whole outfit costs over a thousand dollars! Oh my! I will admit, though, you give me ideas for a lot lower budget.

  23. Love the sleeveless blazer and sleeveless long sweaters this fall! Also love black and camel color together! You look beautiful as always! Have a super day!

  24. You look gorgeous!! I love the color of the blazer and I might take a trip to target and try one on! You are so inspirational inside and out and I am so glad I found your blog!!

  25. I kind to agreed with Christine. I like the vest and the jeans. I think that it will look better with a turtleneck, long sleeve tee or buttom down shirt. I will not use the kind of shoe you are wearing. I think it looks better with booties. But I love the vest and the color.

  26. Am I weird that I just can’t get into all these fashions everyone loves? I’ve always been a simple girl, perhaps even borderline frumpy. I grew up at the shore and still have a very “beachy” look. I’m usually found in a simple, flowy dress, or jeans and a sweater. I think you are beautiful and I love your blog, and I think you do a great job styling stuff. That being said, I think some stuff is just weird. I don’t like this blazer, it seems to serve no purpose and it’s not even cute. I hated the whole “someone cut a hole in the shoulders of my shirts” look, and I detest peep toe shoes! (and I have really pretty feet, so it’s not that). But I feel so badly, like if I were a normal woman, I’d just LOVE this stuff. But I don’t. Am I destined to be an out of style beach bum for the rest of my life? I feel like if I forced myself to wear things I don’t like, I’d be pretending to be someone I’m not.

    1. Hey! Don’t be so hard on yourself…nothing wrong with having your own sense of style and running with it. Take what you like, leave what you don’t and stay true to you. Compare Cyndi to Jo-Lynne to Jodie…three completely different takes…different body types… different styles. And you would be another…nothing wrong with that.

I visit each of these bloggers for ideas and inspiration…but it’s a good thing we all like different things or we’d only need one blogger. 🙂 Stay open minded and sometimes you might surprise yourself by liking something unexpected.

  27. I really like this because like you said, it can be worn casual or dressed up with some leopard flats or heels, which I have both now 😀 And the price is good, especially with the $10 dollars off $40 Target is running. But since I’m short, I will definitely need to go try it on. Thanks for sharing and have a safe trip to the post office.

  28. I love the sleeveless blazer. If I were to add it to my fall workwear challenge wardrobe, would you have a color to suggest? Black, camel, grey or another color?

  29. To me it loois like a lab coat.I think I’d like it better with a long sleeve tee or top. I also think that when you start wearing jackets, vests, etc, close toed shoes look best. I’ve never like peek a book booties anyway. The toes look weird poking out the end. Guess I’m just not like newer styles.

  30. You are looking very pretty today… This blazer looks a little small, doesn’t look like it closes all the way or maybe you are just holding it open to show the top with it… It’s not one of my favorites, but you look cute in it, I love how you paired it with the black! God Bless you today and love the Beauty for the Heart !!
