If You’re Feeling Anxious, Do The Next Thing

Yesterday, I was thinking about the week ahead and all that I need to get done. I have some projects due with my blog and I have to get them finished.

We also have a Cuban pastor coming this afternoon to stay with us for a month or two.

I was feeling a little anxious (sometimes I can stress about the small stuff) and I read this quote by Oswald Chambers, Trust God and do the next thing…

trust-godWhatever this week holds, God is with us. If you’re questioning what to do next or how you’re going to deal with the week ahead, trust God and do the next thing.

Isaiah 30:21 says, Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, “This is the way; walk in it.”

He is walking with us through each day and wants to guide our paths. Jesus has a plan and a purpose for our life and he wants to guide your steps.

Proverbs 3:5-6 says, Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding.
Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.

Let’s start this week trusting and seeking Him! This is an older song but I love the words. Enjoy!

Have a blessed day!

  1. I heard some disappointing news today and remembered your post from Sunday. I thought to myself, ‘It’s all in God’s hands, and He knows what it is best. I shall trust him to lead the way because God never makes mistakes.’

Thank you, Cyndi, for that post, and I have to say that your dear little grandson really has your family features! You can definitely tell he is your grandson! (He could be your son; you are very young looking!)

  2. Thank you Cyndi, for the reminder that God is faithful. Thoughts and prayers for Donna who shared with us that she lost her husband suddenly days ago. We lift you and your family up in prayer, Donna. May you feel the presence of His comfort.

  3. Oh my gosh, girl . I think you “snuck” up to Iowa nd listened to me pouring out my heart to our Outreach Pastor at church yesterday. We were taking our monthly turn at the Café. He walked up and asked,” How is it going ? Normally fine…but this time I answered< "Truthfully ,Pastor Doug, I am stretched more than a bit thin after this past week." He listened, prayed, and gave me a big hug. Awesome words from a young pastor I respect who is the same age as my Chiropractor /Doctor son. Grateful how God uses these moments to remind us He 's got it all under control… even when we don't …and so we don't have to !!!!!

  4. Perfect timing for me too. I lost my mom 11 days ago and I am the only one left to care for my mentally ill brother. I have been so overwhelmed with grief and worries about what to do next. This was comforting to read. Thank you, Cyndi!

  5. Thank you so much for your post. I also Love the songs you post. My heart goes out to all the prayer request and will pray for these …God Loves us All so Much! It reminds me of the story “Footprints In the Sand” There was only one set of footprints…Because He is carrying you

  6. This is my favorite Bible quote! It is actually my mantra everyday! Thank you for all the beauty inside and out that you share with us all! And to your reader Donna C. My thoughts and prayers are with you! And remember you (we) are NEVER ALONE!

  7. Thank you so much for your post. I needed to see this today. On September 6th my normally healthy 54 year old husband was diagnosed with Type A flu. On September 9th he was placed on life support and went home to be with the Lord on September 10th. I am still in total shock and disbelief that I have lost my soulmate. I know that God has a plan and a purpose for my life and that His ways are perfect. I desire your prayers and terrible time of sorrow and grief in my life.

    1. Donna this is heart breaking. While we’ve never met please know I will pray for you as you move through this sad and tumultuous time. I’m about your age so I can imagine what a shock it would be to lose my spouse unexpectedly. I bet you don’t think you can survive this thing, but with God you will even if you don’t want to. I will pray for you and thank you for sharing your heart with all of us who follow this blog.

    2. I am so very sorry for your loss. To say that is a ‘shock’ is a huge understatement. I have no words of wisdom only that thoughts and prayers are being lifted for you and yours. Wishing you peace and comfort during this difficult time.

    3. OH Donna! My heart is breaking for you. I cannot imagine the feelings you are facing right now. Just trust that the Lord will see you through this difficult time. Just put your trust in him & have faith that he does have a plan to get you through this. You are in my prayers!

    4. Thank you all so much for your thoughts and prayers. I have truly felt stronger today and I know that is due to the many people that are praying for me and my family. I ask the Lord daily to just help me put one foot in front of the other and for guidance through this grief filled journey. Knowing that I can talk to you wonderful people helps so much.

  8. Proverbs: 3,5 & 6 is our “Family” verse and has been for about 30 years now….our girls are grown now, 35 and 33 and they know this verse. We have 4 beautiful grandchildren and cherish those times. All the best to you and your family.

    In his Love,
    Holly🙏🏻

  9. First of all, Colt is soooo cute! Such a great picture of the 3 of you! Thank for sharing these verses, I am dealing with several things right now and feeling very overwhelmed. Have a good night!

  10. Thank you Cyndi for your encouraging words. I needed to hear this today. My dad is experiencing some health problems and I am taking care of him. At times I am very overwhelmed. Thank you for sharing!

  11. Very timely verses…thank you! I don’t comment much but I really appreciate your blog and your love for Jesus. Praying for you, Cyndi!

  12. I love the verses you shared today and they are exactly what I needed to help me respond to a friend in need.
I think you look more beautiful in photos with your grandson, your love for him sparkles in your eyes.

  13. Great song never heard it before love the words. Your quotes is much needed for me thank you!! Great pictures of you three.i will send prayers your way. 😊

  14. Isn’t it amazing how God works! I get so worked up over “to do lists” and let busy seasons get me down. Thank you for the encouragement! I hope you have a great week and find rest along the way!

  15. If you wrote this for no one else but me, which I see you didn’t by reading other posts, thank you. I am looking forward to something I am doing this evening and then my husband and I are leaving for vacation this week. Suddenly out of no where, I became anxious, fearful, and uncertain. I just heard a sermon about God’s faithfulness this morning. Do you ever have Satan just jump on you? Praying thru it and I know everything will be ok. Praying for you as well!

  16. Thanks, Cyndi. Love that song especially that particular arrangement. Love the picture of the 3 of you. Colt is adorable. I thought of you this morning as I was getting ready for church. I wore a cardigan that you styled earlier this summer. I actually felt pretty. Thank you for helping me gain confidence in myself by your posts and the ideas you share on how to put outfits together. You’re a blessing to me and so many.

  17. Hi Cyndi, I just recently started to follow you.I love the scripture and so many of the clothes you pick.I find it really helps me because I want to be trendy but look appropriate for my age.Thank you so much! Karol

  18. Thank you for this, Cyndi! I can get easily overwhelmed, so this is a perfect reminder for me to hang onto. You are a blessing 🙂

  19. I so appreciate your balance when it comes to fashion and things that really matter. I think it is important to dress nice and look attractive- but eternal things are where I really want my focus to be. Your blog helps me to keep that balance! I think it will be such a blessing to your family to host the pastor from Cuba. Hospitality is a way to show God’s love!
