Makeup Trends Fall 2016

With fall’s arrival comes some fresh new looks to try. If you’re wondering how to update your makeup for the season, I’ve got you covered. Here are some makeup trends for fall 2016.

makeup-trends-for-fallOkay, there are a lot of makeup trends but few that I would actually wear. Some of the makeup trends include glittery eyeshadow, blue eyeshadow, oxblood lips and heavy eyeliner.

For women over 40 those trends are not the look most of us want. We want a more natural look. Glitter can accentuate fine lines and I don’t know about you but I would rather not accentuate them.

Here are the trends that I feel are wearable for women over 40:

  • Copper Shadow

Rather than a traditional black smoky eye, the upgraded version features a touch of copper in the center — perfect for brown-eyed girls.

  • Lip Gloss

Thankfully, this classic lip product is finally back in style. I love the look of a light gloss and Bare Minerals Marvelous Moxie in Rebel is one of my favorites.

  1. Thanks for you blogs, love to read them!

I also enjoy Dominique Sachse, she has practical and useful info like you

Also, have you ever tried any of Christi Harris products. She is from Dallas her products are also great. Love her eyebrow precision shaper. Best small razor I have found, I use on facial hair and love it! A little more expensive than over the counter but worth it!
    Thanks again

  2. Cyndi, I am having issues with all your emails going into my Spam folder. This has been going on for about 1 month. Funny thing is yours and JoLynne’s emails started going into my Spam folder exactly the same day. Wish I didn’t have to go in there to check my emails daily!! Any suggestions?

    Thanks!

  3. I wear as little make up as possible but I do love my mascara and lipstick most every day… but little foundation, I like use a liquid powder and no blush as my cheeks already maintain great color on their own. LOL I do love a little eye color once in a while… Your make up is always beautiful and natural looking too!

  4. Hi Cyndi, I stopped getting your daily emails and after multiple attempts to get signed up again I’m still not able to subscribe. Any ideas what might be causing this?

  5. I get the emails everyday and enjoy reading. Some are commenting about not receiving the posts and I have not had a problem with that but they have changed how they present on my email. They now say Grace & Beauty – used to the “amp” was not there. Doesn’t matter but it was curious.

  6. Another proponent of Rodan & Fields new Lash Boost. I prefer to NOT use a prescription product with possible side effects! Lash Boost uses Multi Med therapy to moisturize, nourish and protect the lashes with Panthenol, Sodium Hyaluronate for moisture, Biotin & Keratin to infuse protein and Peptides to nourish the lashes.

  7. Thanks for the tips. I’m actually over 60 but your posts are pretty relevant. I wanted to mention that I have had great success with Revitalash for the eye lashes. I get it through my facialist. It is awesome.

  8. I didn’t receive your email this morning either. Just an FYI. Thank you for sharing these beauty tips today, as makeup gets trickier with age.

  9. I don’t change my make up routine, because once I found the make up I like, I stuck to it. I like MAC eye shadows. I use the color Dazzlelight for the all over eye lid color and then for in the crease I use the color Shale.

  10. I know you’ve posted this before, but what is the best regimen and products you like for skin care. I’m 48 and can see wrinkles appearing and my neck losing it’s elastically. I’ve alway had pretty skin and I’ve mostly been faithfully to wash my makeup off every night. I want to use products that really work. I don’t want to waste my money. I’ve alway heard that retinol was really good as an esstenial ingredient but I also know it’s not natural. Also, someone recommended Jane Iredale products. Are you familiar with them? I love your blog! I do not have a natural gift for knowing how to choose what to wear or what looks good on me. I always feel self conscious and compare myself to others. My husband is a State Representative and I have to attend different gatherings with him. I’d greatly appreciate your response. Not only do I love the beauty advice but the inside beauty you share. True beauty comes from the inside. Thank you so much!!

    1. Sharon, I am 58 and I have used Jane Iredale products. They were recommended to me by my facialist and they are very good. They are all water based products so good for your skin. The only downside I found was that I didn’t like the smell of some of the products, but I’m really fussy about smells. Definitely worth trying.

      1. Thanks Debbie for the information. I always like to know how someone who uses a product likes them. This is very helpful.

  11. I started using Latisse about a year ago and WOW what a difference. The only thing I have noticed is my eyelids- just above the lash line only – seems to be reddish looking. I have very thin skin on my eyelids so I’ve always used a primer which covers all that up anyway – done this since my early twenties. Anyway, I LOVE my longer lashes and I feel it gives my face a younger, healthier, more rested look. My 25 yr. old daughter always says “momma – I want your lashes” HA! that in itself is all the confirmation I need to know I have to keep using it. I know some women close to my age who are wearing the sparkly eyeshadow and I want to say “noooooo- please don’t do that!” One actually performs at our church, and is on the large screens and the sparkly eyeshadow is frankly so tacky – Jesus loves her anyway :-).
I visited the MAC counter about 6 months ago since I wanted to update my look, esp. eye make-up since my lashes were there again – anyway, I started using a very deep brown/burgundy shadow for eyeliner (I have blue eyes) and it has made a huge difference. So much better than black, and has more umph than just brown. Thanks for all the tips and for the link to the maskara.

  12. Cyndi,

I am a Rodan+Fields Consultant and our newest product is Lash Boost. Biotin, Keratin and peptides work to give you fuller, darker, stronger lashes and it works on eyebrows too! Results can be seen in 4 weeks but best results are at 8 weeks.

      1. Sharon,

Rodan and Fields product ingredients are not all natural because they are approved by the FDA, Our products are a combination of OTC pharmaceutical and cosmetic ingredients that are delivered through Multi Med Therapy – the right ingredients, in the right combination at the right time which delivers clinically proven results. There is a difference between clinically tested and clinically proven. And they come with a 60 day empty bottle money back guarantee if you are not satisfied.

  14. I like this idea of copper eye shadow! I don’t change my makeup routine often either. But I am starting to wear lip gloss more recently and I love my eye lashes longer so I will have to try one of your suggestions. I, too, went through a period of fear and it was paralyzing. No real reason except the devil making my mind do crazy things. Thank you for the reminder of the verse in 2 Timothy.

  15. I was about to ask you for fall make-up tips, so thank you!! What eye shadow and eyeliner do you use? I use Urban Decay (color is whiskey, which is dark brown), but lately it seems too dark. I’m looking for a slightly lighter brown.

Love following you every day!! Thank you for helping us grow old gracefully.

    Have a blessed day!
    ~Dorian

  16. Thank you for your post !! For some reason I wasn’t getting the daily emails, I would have to look it up. So it was a pleasant surprise thus morning !!😁
I would appreciate your prayers as I’m heading out for a 3 1/2 hour drive ( not to long ) as a go to meet my new grandson.
My daughter in law is in labor as I write. Thanks karen
