The Basic Tee by Tapered Collection

One of the emails I get quite often is about basic tees. Most of us need a good basic tee to wear with cardigans or to wear alone with a necklace or a scarf.

The problem is most of the tees are thin and seem to accentuate all the wrong places. I was thrilled when I was contacted by the Tapered Collection and asked if I would try their basic tees.

The Tapered Collection was born out of the frustration of the founder, Astrid Glass, over being unable to find a good basic tee.

Here is what she said:

“Like many women, I have areas of my body I feel less secure about, particularly after becoming a mom. (Hellooo, midsection!) I wanted a basic tee that would both fit and flatter my figure. That wouldn’t shrink the first time I washed it. That wasn’t so sheer it showed off my bra. And so I created Tapered Collection.”

So today I’m introducing you to the Tapered Collection and I think you’re going to love them. They are 20% off today through November 14th!

tapered-12These tees are pre-shrunk and garment-dyed, meaning no shrinking, no fading. Finally—a tee that fits and flatters. For size reference, I’m wearing a small.

tapered-0
These tees are not paper thin and you don’t have to wear a tank under them if you don’t want to. (Some of you have said that makes you too hot!)

tapered-2The three quarter length sleeve tee comes in two neckline styles, a round neck and a v-neck.

They are so soft and in case you didn’t catch it the first time I said it, they won’t shrink after you wash and dry them.

Beauty For the Heart~~Last year when people started putting up their outside Christmas lights, Colt Allen stood in our driveway looking at them and said, “Cici, they’re beautiful, they’re just beautiful!”

I was thinking about that this morning with all the ugliness we have had to endure over the last few months with the presidential election.

We need to be light in a dark world. Light is beautiful. Light shines in the darkness and brings beauty.

When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” John 8:12

Have a blessed day and shine His light!

  1. Just received my Tapored Tshirt and I love it the minute I put it on! I will be ordering more colors and difficulty necklines.

    1. Oh Charlotte I’m so glad you like it. It’s hard to explain how nice these shirts are and how good they fit. These are basic pieces that will be worn over and over and they are a great product.
      Thanks for letting me know!!
      Cyndi

  2. Hi Cyndi, I understand your scarf is no longer available but can you tell me where you got it or what brand it is? I just love it and thought I would try to find it on ebay. Thanks!

    1. Hi Frankie,
My scarf is from Glamour Farms. It doesn’t have a tag on it so I don’t know the brand. I am looking for a similar one and when I find it, I will post it.
      Cyndi

  3. I like these kind of tops especially knowing they don’t shrink. Your scarf looks nice. People ride all kinds of places to see the leaves change color ( at last where I’m from) but sometimes there’s beauty all around us. Be still it’s there. Thank you!!! 😊

  4. John 8:12 gives me chills, as well as your comment to Julie. Thank you to your family for giving this darling girl a loving & caring family. What a blessing you all are to this world. God bless you!

  5. This looks like a very nice t-shirt but I agree with some others that $52 is a bit much, even with 20% off. I LOVE the short sleeve t-shirt you had this summer from Banana Republic – I think it was the roll sleeve t-shirt? I have 3 and wear them all the time. I was looking on their website and while they don’t seem to have basic colors, this might be the same fabric.

  6. Great photos Cyndi!! Always enjoy getting your posts!
The jeans…a staple?? They look great on you…and the shade is perfect
How’s the waist?? I’m not ‘thin’, and prefer a mid rise…
    Thanks dear!

  7. I tried to place an order but the website stayed on the screen “processing your order”. I can’t find a phone number to call so I have no idea if my order was placed or not. If someone from the company is monitoring these comments, I’d like to know how to determine if my order went through. Thanks!

    1. Hi Liz,

I just had a customer contact me with the same issue and I’m testing the site. Your order did not go through, but I can send you a draft of a new order to see if that works. Some orders are processing, and I wonder if for some reason during a specific time period the server was down. The other customer was able to process the order through a draft order I sent her. I can do the same for you! I’m sorry! Technology is amazing, and also frustrating at the same time. Thank you for your patience.
      Best,
      Astrid

  8. Love finding a Tee that works well but I have to be honest, a Tee Shirt for $52 is a bit over the top. I have found great ones from Talbots that don’t cost that much, and Talbots can be pricy!

  9. Hi Cyndi, I have subscribed to your blog and love it for a couple years. Now this last week I don’t get your blog daily in my e-mail and so I resubscribed yesterday and still I don’t get your blog automatically. Can you help?
LOve the t-shirt and ordered one in two sizes to try.

    1. Hi Sue,
I checked and it’s going to a spam folder. Could you add cyndi@graceandbeautystyle.com to your address book. Also, this is what my email service says (gmail likes to send them to different place)

“This can be fairly common for Gmail inboxes. They have their inbox sorted into three categories: Primary, Social, and Promotions. While emails can land in Primary for a while, email filters do change very regularly, so it could be that their filters have started to consider your emails better-suited for the promotions tab, for this specific recipient.

They can drag the email from the Promotions tab to the Primary tab at any time, which will teach their Gmail account to prioritize putting those types of emails into the Primary tab in the future.”

      Hope this helps!
      Cyndi

  10. Cyndi–as the mother of an adopted child, it saddened me to see you refer to your sister’s daughter as her “adopted daughter.” Why the qualification? Couldn’t she just be called a daughter? I know it would hurt my daughter if everyone referred to her as my adopted daughter.

    1. I am also the mother of an adopted and child and initially had the same response as the comment above. But stepping back, I realize that Cyndi, and many others, are honoring adoption by noting it and I feel they are a bit awed by the grace of God that brought child and parents together.

I hope that by mentioning successful adoptions, we are promoting this wonderful option for creating families.

    2. Julie please do not take that as a derogatory statement. Many of my readers have followed my sister and her husband’s journey of adoption over the last year. This is their only daughter as they have 4 boys and she is definitely their daughter.
Personally, I don’t see being adopted as negative. I am adopted into the family of God and what a blessing that is for me. I think adoption is a beautiful thing!!! Sania knows she is adopted and she is loved very very much!!

      1. I didn’t think you meant it in a derogatory way. I just don’t understand why we need to specify that she is adopted. You wouldn’t call her other children her “biological ” children. My daughter also knows she is adopted and loved but I never refer to her as my “adopted ” daughter. She is just my very loved and cherished daughter.

    3. I am a strong supporter of adoption. I know it was not intentional, but referring to your niece as your sister’s “adopted” daughter actually made me flinch a little. I have no doubt that she is loved by her whole family.
I too have been adopted in to the family of God, but the adoption is over and I am a full-fledged daughter of the King. As with your sister and niece, the adoption process is over. She is now a full-fledged daughter.

  11. Hi Cyn, I would like to say I’m loving your blog I’m 64 yrs old and I’m enjoying all your modeling pieces. I don’t dress old but many pieces are way too young looking for someone my age. Your outfits make me feel like I’m in the know,https://tenor.co/zw8y.gifhttps://tenor.co/Eh6W.gif, I also need your words of hope, wisdom&faith.
Thank you&have a beautiful blessed day

  12. Hi Cyndi! I’m so glad that Santa Louise got to spend the night with you. I love that she wants to stay another night, especially since she is still learning that she now has a forever family that loves her. I have just ordered the black 3/4 length sleeve tee, even though the price is higher than what I would normally pay. In this particular case, I had rather have one good quality tee that won’t shrink and look nice on my 60 year old body, than have a bunch of cheap ones that don’t look as nice.

    Have a blessed day!

    1. Yay!! I would love to know if you like it. I also agree about paying a little more. This is something you will wear a lot so the cost per wear will be small.
      Blessings,
      cyndi

      1. I will let you know after I get it and try it on. I just noticed I misspelled your nieces name. I am so sorry I did not catch the mistake earlier.

        God bless!

  13. Hello Cyndi,🙋🏻
I pray that you and family are well! I want to say that there is sooooo much to be thankful for… God is good! Your niece is very pretty and has a beautiful smile.
Have a blessed rest of the week!

    Joyfully In Christ,
    Raquel

  14. Thanks for sharing a great tee! I don’t wear them often just for the reasons the designer of these mentioned so I may just have to give this a try. I enjoy a great basic tee and have missed them. You look great Cyndi – you are simply beautiful and your inner light shines brightly! I cannot tell you how much your daily posts mean to me, and always, always I feel better after reading.

  15. Thanks for sharing about the tees! I definitely need to check them out…I’ve got a few from the Loft that I love for the fit, but they are so stinking thin! 😑 These look great on you! 😊

  16. Hi Cyndi,
A basic good fitting tee is always essential, and often wear one under thinner sweaters at this time of year.
Love the photo of you with the leaves. Your niece is very pretty, go on keep her for another night Aunt Cici😉 I’ve got
My 2 year old step grandson today,i have him every Thursday while his mum works, she’s a teacher. Love having
Kids around they help to keep you young, house looks a tip though😬
    Love Nicky X

  17. Hey Cyndi,

What a cute niece you have she is darling.

Glad the election is over and praying that everyone comes together and works hard to make America a country that thrives for each and everyone of us. We needed God back in our country and we just might achieve this …. we won’t be great again unless he is here whole heartily

God bless you and your family…..

P.s. not sure about the leaves we are coping with them just not use to them coming from southern Ca, but your picture is very cute.

  18. How cute with the leaves Cyndi—-great minds must think alike, because I did that in my post too!!
It is amazing how the t-shirt is now considered quite the basic item…so it is very important to have a great fitting one that feels good too!!
These look extremely nice on you–I’ll have to check them out!

    1. Hi Cyndi! Always enjoy your blog, but since you ask for input, $52 is too much to spend for a basic tee. Period. I have found quality tee shirts at Talbots, Chicos, and Lauren makes very good ones (although they can be pricey too). Also disappointed that the founder of the company did not choose to include plus sizes in her collection. We too are always on the hunt for flattering quality clothes.
So jealous of that gorgeous fall foliage!! None of that down here in Houston. : ( Have a fabulous day!!
