I love having vests because they’re a great layering piece. I layered my vest over a plaid top but it would look cute layered over a casual dress too.

cyber-monday

I’m so honored that you have taken time out of your day to stop by my blog. If you don’t want to miss a post, you can sign up to receive my daily emails and you’ll never miss a thing. I’m also on FacebookPinterest and my favorite one, Instagram.

Beauty For the Heart~~Yesterday someone left an unkind comment about my grandson. I did not respond but I did delete it. The internet is a place where we can say whatever we want with little consequences.

Sometimes someone will be critical about my clothes and I am fine with that. Certainly everyone is not going to like what I’m wearing. But I do draw the line when it’s extremely hurtful or malicious.

I’m reminded of this quote:

“Keep in mind, hurting people often hurt other people as a result of their own pain. If somebody is rude and inconsiderate, you can almost be certain that they have some unresolved issues inside. They have some major problems, anger, resentment, or some heartache they are trying to cope with or overcome. The last thing they need is for you to make matters worse by responding angrily.”  -Author unknown

It’s so true that hurt people, hurt people. Pray for them and then move on.

Don’t use foul or abusive language. Let everything you say be good and helpful, so that your words will be an encouragement to those who hear them. Ephesians 4:29

Have a blessed day!

  1. I follow your blog regularly and always look for your words of inspiration. I am not the type of follower who comments and posts regularly, but I just had to tell you how much I admire your strength to not respond and hope that whoever posted that can see the negativity and hurt that it caused. Moms/Grandmoms can tolerate much but when it comes to our babies… look out!
    Thank you for your work!

  2. I love the sweater you are styling. If I was in the US right now, I’m pretty sure I would buy it. I’m always needing layering pieces for changing temperatures, etc.

I’m so sorry to hear about the negative comment. You have a great perspective on it, but I’m sure it’s still hurtful. Thanks for being an encouragement to so many.

  3. Love this cute outfit!!!! Thanks so much for what you do!!! I often share your quotes (referencing “Beauty For The Heart” of course) on my fb page!!! As much as your awesome style speaks to me, your daily devotions speak even more to me!!! I apologize for the aweful comment that someone made towards your beautiful grandson!! Things like that have to come from a hurting heart, no doubt. I have two grandsons, and two granddaughters, and they are my whole life. You are certainly a woman of God to show such restraint. Thank you EVERY day for lifting our spirits, and showing the love of Christ!!!!! Blessings!!!!

  4. I am sorry ….there is no reason for anyone to be negative….shame on them!!! I hope they are reading all the positive comments and how much we love your blog!!!!

Hopefully it will help them see the “Light”
    Bless you!!!

  5. HI Cyndi, I saw that ridiculous comment yesterday and immediately thought it was completely out of place for your readers and a rude and pointless thing to say. I know it was probably not easy to hold back a comment, so I applaud you even more for your mature and wise summary today. That was a good quote for all of us. And, may I add that person is free to find another blog to follow!

  6. I wish kindness, grace, peace and love to You, your family, and to all the wonderful people who have wriiten such sweet comments on this blog.

  7. So sorry to hear that. You give so much to all of us your time and you share so much love of your family I enjoy you and clips of you grandson. Prayers go out to you. Thank you..

  8. I just wanted to say how much I look forward to reading your blog. I love your fashion ideas, decorating and of course your messages of hope and faith. I also love seeing your family from time to time. It breaks my heart that someone feels the need to say mean things. Please don’t let that stop you from doing what you do. Your family is cute as can be and I hope to continue to see updates about them along with the fashion!!

  9. Oh my goodness!!! How on earth could/would someone say something unkind about that precious child?!?! How sad and small that person is! (I teach elementary school and I just cannot stand when someone is unkind to a child.)

I’m so sorry you had to deal with that, Cyndi. You are lovely and kind. Your family does not deserve such treatment.

  10. Saying a prayer right now for that reader who was unkind. Thank you for sharing your life on blog land. You just don’t know how people will respond but yet you still continue because of your calling and love for the Lord. God bless you Cyndi. You are much appreciated.

  11. Love your style today! Colt Allen is a precious child. NO ONE should make comments about children. I am always thrilled when he is included in your posts! God bless you both always.

  12. You know what? Absolutely every time I see a picture of Colt Allen I just break into a big old smile. He’s somehow just so perfect, and I can see the love you have for him and he has for his CiCi. He’s just the handsomest little fellow, and will obviously be a very fine young man someday, and you should be very proud of him, and your whole family. Thank you, Cyndi, for everything you do with your blog, and especially for Beauty For The Heart. The fashion advice has been so helpful to me, and I am spiritually fed each day. I’m so glad to “know” you!

  13. Cyndi – I follow your fashion blog primarily because of your Christian faith that shines through you — and secondly for the fashion! You are beautiful inside and out — and so is your beautiful family including your precious grandson. May God bless all of you this Christmas season and throughout the coming year!

    1. People can be so rude and hateful, especially online. And it’s so true that the meanest people are often full of self-loathing. Your grandson is absolutely adorable!

  14. Cyndi, I opened your email first thing this morning and couldn’t agree more with the quote you posted. I was just up until 11p.m. last night listening to a family member, venting her frustrations at another family member, who continues to hurt her feelings and others. She was at her wits end to what she should do, as she feels she’s about to blow up at her. I shared almost word for word your quote and tried to help her understand, we can’t change people, but we can change the way we react to them. I’m so proud of you for handling the situation with your grandson like you did. The day I opened the post you shared with the pictures of him and the story about him helping you focus on the TRUE meaning of Christmas, I didn’t have time then, but knew I wanted to respond to you. God uses everyone, even our little ones to teach us his ways. I too want you to know Colt Allen spoke to me the VERY minute I read your blog. I had just been spending so much time ordering Christmas gifts, trying to plan what our Christmas plans with everyone would be, what would I cook, when should I start baking etc. etc. I not once stopped to focus on what Christmas is really all about and I know better. I NEEDED your post and what Colt reminded you of and then reminded me of. Please, Please the next time you see him, tell him what a blessing he is and that he helped KATHY remember to think about JESUS this season. Because of course……JESUS IS THE REASON FOR THE SEASON. 🙂 I can’t tell you how fun its been to find your blog last March and be connected with someone who not only loves JESUS, but also fashion. Love to you and your family.

  15. I can’ imagine anything negative could be said about that precious boy- he is so cute. I was going to ask you where his shoes came from- I have 2 young boys and have been looking for some cute church shoes for them. Thank you for your wonderful blog!

  16. Those vests are really growing on me! You look great with the plaid shirt and black jeans. Classy as always. I think you handled the comment with grace and beauty!

  17. As a grandmother of 6, I know how proud we can be of our grandkids. I think it is wonderful that he will sit for the photos, I’m not sure my youngest grandson could sit still long enough to snap a cute photo. It is sad that some people feel the need to lash out and make hurtful remarks. The person who made those remarks can certainly find other blogs to follow if they think yours in inappropriate. I for one, look forward to your blog everyday, and I love it when you share photos of your family.
    .

  18. I love the long knit vest. I bet it’s soft and just enough warmth for those not so cold days. Not so here today. We woke to frost on the rooftops. I’ll be wearing my winter coat, instead.

Your quote is the perfect way to deal with an unkind comment. Let’s be kind, people.

  19. especially on the weekend we have been taking stock of all the things we are thankful for, someone had to show their ugly side and be critical of your cute little grandson (actually not that little anymore is he?) I hope this will not make you too hesitant to share him in the future. they are always a treat and knowing how dear he holds our Savior is always so encouraging as well.

thank you for all the cyber tips.

  20. So sad to hear someone would say anything negative about a child. Grandchildren are the best! I have four. An extra special gift from God. Your grandson is a real cutie and I can see from your pictures and posts about him how much you love each other. You handled the situation with style and grace. Have a blessed day.

  21. This is a very adorable casual outfit!

On the subject of hurtful post about your grandchild….UGHHH!!! Don’t be discouraged by it!! That would interfere with your work for God (Beauty for the Heart). I have to say that it seems to be a sign of the times we live in now. Look up!!

“Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near” (Luke 21:28).

  22. Oh my, so sad to hear about the negative comment. I’ve heard a few other bloggers say the same thing happened to them. grandchildren are especially dear to grandparents. An extra special gift from God. I have four and they are just the best thing. Your grandson is a real cutie. When I see pictures and also read your comments about him I can see the love you for each other. Have a blessed day.

  23. I’m going to say it too, I’m sorry for someone saying nasty things about a little child 😥
Thank you for all you do and for sharing your life with us. I look forward to your post everyday.

  24. I am very new to your blog (and follow now on Instagram). I love your style and after paging through past posts you’ve done, have yet to see a single outfit that I wouldn’t wear – they are all truly stylish! I watched how you get the volume in your hair and will be trying that, and also just today tried the tip for using eyeshadow to fill in brows. My brows have thinned and this was a perfect solution, so much more natural than a pencil. I’ll be a regular visitor.

I love the Christian focus of your posts as well. They are really uplifting!

  25. Cyndi, I have to say that every time I see pictures of Colt, I see a light of goodness shining through him and it makes me smile! I hope the negative comment won’t stop your sharing of pictures and stories of your life and family–you are such an inspiration in all things!

  26. Your Grandson is absolutely precious and I applaud the way you handled the inappropriate post and ignorance of the poster!
    Blessings Cyndi!

  27. I am so upset someone would do that to your handsome grandson. I do not understand why people feel the need to do that. Sure some things you style might not look good on me, but they look good on you. You do not style just for one person. I just move on. I would never dream of leaving you an unkind remark.

On a positive note I have looking for a gift for my best friend. I just ordered her the vest you are styling from Glamour Farms (my new favorite store). I am so excited!!!

I ordered my daughter some clothes this morning from Banana Republic. I was so excited 50% off!

I have a question on you Erin Condren Planner 0 do you have the Life Planner?

On a side note I am getting ready to publish my first blog post. It’s been 3 years in the making. I was in a bad auto accident in 2013 and now life with a Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI). My daughter has encouraged me to start a blog since 2013. I am going to do it. I am going to have lifestyle plus coping with a TBI. I have followed you since 2013. I believe my journey has been faith.

  28. Love the vest and the way you styled it. Most of all, I love your response to the ugliness that can sometimes bombard us if we are not careful .. .pray for them and move on. I try to make this my policy, but sometimes it is difficult to remember that we are to set the example, we are called to be Christ-like, not like this world. Thank you for the reminder and for sharing how you deal with such issues! It always helps to know that we are not alone and together, good can keep going!

  29. There is NO excuse for anyone to say something negative about a child – they are innocent and God’s blessing for us. I agree with another comment that it is very hard not to say something back when your child or grandchild is being attacked. I honestly am not sure I could have held back making a comment to that person. Thank you for showing such love and grace and for encouraging us how to do the same. God will bless you for it.

  30. Adorable outfit as usual!

I don’t understand how anyone could say anything bad about a child. Colt is a precious little boy and as I looked at the pictures I thought of how fortunate he is to be part of your wonderful family! Blessings to all of you during this Christmas season!

  31. Hard to believe that someone would make an unkind comment about a sweet, adorable child! You and your family are a blessing to so many of us. Be encouraged!

  32. I love you so much my sweet sister! This was an encouraging word to me today, as always! You have such a precious blessing in the testimony of your family and colt is the gift!❤️

  33. I’m sorry someone hurt you, you are absolutely right: hurt people do hurt people.
Thank you for this blog, I love the clothes, but especially love the inspiration.

  34. Cyndi, I am sooo sorry someone felt the need to say something hurtful and nasty……especially about a dear little boy! Shameful is what it is! I love your statement that hurt people hut others…..I too have been going through something like that and as long as it’s directed at me I am OK but when they start attacking my children or my grandbabies….it’s hard to not let anger take over……thanks for the example of grace under fire! And I love the outfit today! 😉

  35. I am sorry that someone was unkind to you and your family. I so admire your response to it. And Colt is adorable! I just found your blog and find your faith so inspiring. Your fashion sense too! I will be back.

  36. That cardigan vest is an absolutely wonderful piece!! I’ve been loving vests lately, but I don’t have one in a sweater material like this!
    What a great look, Cyndi!
I think this would even look great on my step mom & mom (the other models on my blog!
Thanks for this and your wonderful words today!

  37. You truly are a woman of grace and beauty Cyndi! I genuinely admire your godliness and gentleness in all situations, especially when people can be so unkind. Beauty truly begins on the inside and shines on the outside. Keep up the good work and may God continue to bless you, your husband, your beautiful family and your business.
