How To Style A Swing Dress

Welcome back to my 25 Days of Winter Fashion! Today I’m showing how to style a swing dress for the Christmas season.

This black dress can be styled many different ways but adding a red crossbody bag and a red/black plaid scarf makes it festive for this time of year.

This dress is timeless but it’s on-trend. It has a round neckline, long sleeves and the best part, it has side pockets. I like the added pockets! The dress also comes in several different colors.

This blanket scarf is not overwhelming and makes it the perfect accessory. I love the red, black and green in the scarf.

Oh my, I love this red handbag! It has a zipper top closure, outside zipper pocket and black and white striped lining on the inside.

The interior separates all your stuff with three compartments. This is a great handbag to add to all your holiday outfits.

I’m wearing the the Ahh-mazing cami short shaper in black under my dress. I added tights and my short black booties.

Beauty For the Heart~~Somehow, not only for Christmas, but all the long year through, the joy that you give to others, is the joy that comes back to you.  ~John Greenleaf Whittier

I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit. Romans 15:13

This Christmas, let’s give the gift of joy and peace to all those we meet!

Have a blessed day

  1. Hi Cindi, I love your style. I was wondering if the scarves you’re showing are a recent purchases? When I go to the referral website they don’t have them listed when I search. I would love to purchase any of the blanket scarves that you share.

    1. Hi Wanda, This is an older post so those scarves are sold out. I will be sharing some new blanket scarves soon. My newer posts are here>>https://www.cyndispivey.com/

  2. Beautiful little swing dress, I love wearing black from December through February.
Our weekend plans changed. Had a church meeting in Whitesburg, KY but hubby has been told by his doc that he has a very contagious stomach virus. SO you can imagine our weekend… 😉
God Bless you ! Have a great weekend!

  3. Swing dresses are my favorite – love the way you styled your’s. This dress is a very forgiving holiday look – hiding too many party treats!

  4. Love, love, love this outfit! I have a very similar outfit, you gave me the idea for what I plan to wear to the he Christmas program at church Sunday! Love Beauty for the Heart also! 😊

  5. Love, love, love this outfit! I have a very similar outfit, you gave me the idea for what I plan to wear the Christmas program at church Sunday! Love Beauty for the Heart also! 😊

  6. Your outfit looks cute, comfortable and warm; what more could a girl ask for?? I have worn a similar outfit but do not yet have booties like yours. I will be on the lookout for a pair. Also, I have the Teresa floral tunic dress from Glamour Farms in a small. I love it! I ordered a different dress from there(the Carson) but the small was too big. Would you say this swing dress fits like the Teresa tunic? I would love to order more from Glamour Farms but am not sure of the size. Thanks for your ideas and especially your (and your sweet mom’s) encouragement. Enjoy your day, it sounds very fun!

  7. I love the entire outfit. I already have the tights and similar boots. I’m ordering the dress, scarf, and purse. This will be a great outfit to wear to school. The best part is that the dress is long sleeved. Can’t wait to wear this outfit. Thanks for sharing all your outfits.

  8. This dress looks great on you….I do wish the dress was a little longer…not everyone has those great legs!! Even with tights, I would be a little uncomfortable….love the outfit though! The scarf is a beautiful color.

  9. I have been thinking about buying a swing dress, but I was thinking it would not look good on me. At my age 62 I am thinking it would be too young looking (not in a good way) and not flattering (making me larger on the bottom.) But seeing you in this dress, I may order one and see how it looks. I love this look!

  10. Perfect, comfy outfit for the Christmas season! You are adorable as always! Love Glamour Farms, just wish their dresses were a few inches longer! I am 5’6 and then with heels, just feel they are a little shorter than I am comfortable wearing. Sounds like a fun few days Cyndi! Enjoy!

  11. You look so cute! You are the perfect height for the swing dress. At 5′ 10″ I find that this style is a bit short for me. However, I always admire those who wear it. I especially like the monochromatic line created by dress, tights, and boots. The scarf and handbag are the perfect touches. You have created an understated festive look. Love it!

  12. I love sweater type dresses with boots! Amazing look with your scarf…..you are set to go! I am so petite I can’t do a lot of scarves but wish I could. At my daughter’s work I found a lot of jewelry ( a place came in & sold jewelry at the hospital for little or nothing for a fund raiser) so I usually do jewelry more or statement earrings . I am letting my hair grow also and wonder if yours is easier longer? Great look on you!

  13. Love it! I’m excited that I have these items & just hadn’t thought to style them togther. I appreciate you so much Cyndi! Have a blessed day & stay warm.

  14. Cyndi looking for an answer to my now bleeding lip lines! I never had this problem in the past and I’ve spent a fortune on products. If you or any of your followers have the solution please reply.

  15. Cute!! I have the same dress, I got a very similar one at Old Navy, I think they are down to $10!! Got one for my daughter too!

  16. I think any woman can relate to this outfit, Cyndi!! I always love to find a dress with sleeves for the colder months!! In fact, I usually layer one or two shirts under them because I’m always cold!
Wearing the blanket scarf is basically your focal point—what a lovely look!!
