Don’t Worry About Tomorrow

Why is it so easy to worry? I know Jesus is in control, but I often let my mind wander and start thinking about the “what ifs”.

Matthew 6:34 says, Give your entire attention to what God is doing right now, and don’t get worked up about what may or may not happen tomorrow. God will help you deal with whatever hard things come up when the time comes.

Don't Worry About Tomorrow

There are many more scriptures that remind us to give our worries to Jesus….

  • Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. Philippians 4:6
  • Cast your cares on the LORD and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous be shaken. Psalm 55:22
  • When I am afraid, I put my trust in you. Psalm 56:3

Why does Jesus tell us not to worry? Because He knows the ill effects of worry.

  • It damages our health
  • It disrupts our productivity
  • It negatively affects the way we treat others
  • And it reduces our ability to trust in God.

How many of these are you experiencing because of worry?

I sometimes worry too much and I know Jesus wants me to trust Him. Let’s really give our worries to Him and start living the abundant life! Each day is a gift.

This song is just what I needed to hear this week!

  1. Thank you for being true to your Christian identity when you pose for pictures…I see other fashion/beauty blogs where the women say they follow Jesus but still pose in a way that I find to be provocative, immodest and a temptation to men. Your blog displays a depth of purity and goodness that is refreshing!! Keep it up, Cyndi!

  2. Hi cyndi,
I had a bad day today. I got upset with my husband today.
I hope god will forgive. I know one day the lord will take him and I will miss him terribly.
Sometimes i am at whits end . I don’t know we’re to turn.
    God bless
    Petra

  3. I am reading this the day after your post but obviously God knew I would need it today more than yesterday. Thank you for sharing all of the promises in scripture!

  4. I always find myself worrying about something. Either my husband’s cancer, work, or my mother suffering from Alzheimer’s. I know I have to give it all to God but to say it and DO it are so hard! I end up praying a lot about all my worries/problems.

  5. Thank you for your post today. I found it to be a comforting reminder. I have been concerned about some of the statements made by our new president, and am especially worried about millions of people possibly losing their health care or not being able to afford it any longer. Your post came at the perfect time!

  6. Thank you…as always…for sharing yourself! I also am a “preacher’s wife” and it can be lonely sometimes because we are looked at as a “reflection” of him. I love your posts and devotionals! Thank you for being *you*!

  7. I, like many of you, am also a worrier. I think it has to do with wanting to be in control, at least in my case, so I have been praying that I can “let go and let God”. My Mom has been in rehab hospital for 26 days after a broken hip, and she is so discouraged. I am rating that I can be the encouragement that she needs, and let go of the worry I feel about her recovery. Blessings, dear ones…

  8. Cyndi, Like so many of the ladies, I too, needed this today. For several weeks, I have been running an on & off temp and don’t know why. I see the internist on Tuesday to discuss the results from the CBC blood work he had done last week. There is an infection of some sort in my body. With Larry going through chemo and an autologous stem cell transplant in a few months, as his wife and caregiver, I’ve got to remain healthy. God knows this and I’ve prayed asking Him to take care of us, and help me to rely on Him, and not worry.

  9. What an encouragement your message was to me today! I teach and sadly this profession has become increasingly more disrespected and criticized, which at times causes me to worry. I am challenged by God to lean more heavily on Him and trust that He is in control and keeps His promises. Thank you for sharing!

  10. Thank you for this post. I needed this today and it was perfect. I hope you don’t mind if I pass it along? I know others that would benefit from it as well.
    Blessings to you!

  11. Thank you for your message and the song. At sometime in our lives, we all go through a season of worry and despair.

  12. Cyndi! Thank you for this inspiration today! As I sit here in a hospital room with my adult son who is fighting for his life, this scripture has comforted me and given me strength!! You have given one mother peace today through God’s Word!!

    1. Kathy,
I am praying this afternoon for God to preserve your son’s life and to bring complete healing upon him. May you be filled with God’s peace and love.

  13. Cyndi, these are the right words and it is the most right song for today. I’m sure a lot of people round the world need this and it might be a great help for our souls.
    Thank you!
Blessings to you and the yours
    Jeanne-Alice

  14. Thanks for the inspiration this Sunday morning. So much of my time is spent talking to Jesus and just living in a the world with Him. Sometimes the things I guess I don’t face come tumbling down on me and then I have great stress. I need to figure out how. It to worry and just talk to Jesus about solutions. I am close to Jesus but sometimes people try to get in the way of that. Just pray that I find the strength through Jesus to start facing things. Have a great Sunday!!!!

  15. Thank you cyndi for the post today…I worry all time … my husband has stage 4 lung cancer and it went to his brain..
I pray everyday..l hope the dear lord hears me…
    Thank you so much .

    1. Petra, I’m praying for God to give you His strength and the assurance of His perfect love today. He promises to never, ever leave us. May God hold you and your husband close.

  16. I too have had a month of worry. This morning when my eyes opened my prayer did as well. I really needed your post today Cyndi. Thank you so very much. I feel blessed to have your inspiration in my life.

  17. Thanks so much Cyndi for your devotion and song. I too have struggled with worry this month with health issues and family members health issues etc. etc. God has been faithful, reminding me that I can be content in any circumstance I’m in. Phil 4:11. Satan loves to paralyze us with worry and fear, so its important to spend time in the word daily, to wash our minds clean and be reminded of HIS truths. Blessings to you all this morning.

  18. Sunday Blessings Cyndi. Thank you for your post today! I know deep down inside that God is in control, but I too have been worrying about a friend that has been battling cancer for a few years. This week we thought she was not going to make it, but through the Grace of our Lord, she has pulled around.
The extent of her illness is very severe, so please keep my friend Mira in your prayers.

Blessings to you, your family and your friend!

  19. I’m 57 years old. I can hardly remember a day in my life that I wasn’t filled with worry. I was born a worrier. In the last four years, God has brought some amazing people into my path/life. I have found some great friends online and I have no doubt we were brought together by God’s hand and our faith in God and support for one another has been my lifeline. Through this group of friends, sharing their own struggles and seeing God’s work in each of us, I have finally moved to a point when I feel that automatic worry starting to tear at me, I step back, breathe, and immediately run to my Father and ask Him for peace and release the situation to Him. And He gives me peace like I’ve never known before! As I’ve grown in my relationship with Christ, I realize there is nothing my worrying changes. I only intensify the situation if I fall apart in worry. This has been a miraculous gift. I want to keep my focus on Christ. Sometimes I start to regret that I’ve only gotten to this point at age 57, but then I know it was all God’s timing. He gave me this gift when I needed it most and when I am able to share and hopefully inspire others to lean on God and turn every care over to Him. Cyndi, you have been on of God’s tools in the last few years of inspiring me, and lifting me in hard times. I love reading your blog because I feel God uses you to bring hope and inspiration to many people. I pray for the person in your life that is having a difficult time. May God cover you all with His perfect peace and guidance. Thank you for sharing that song today. I shared it too. Hugs to you sweet lady.

    1. Cheers to us girls from 1960 .. maybe there was something in the water that year as I too was born a worrier. Appreciate your inspiring comments.

      1. Lori, maybe it was the water! LOL Whatever caused it, I got a double dose. But we’re still here, still trying, and moving forward. Hopefully the more we age, the more we can claim the peace that God wants for us. Yes, cheers to us! Have a beautiful week ahead!

  20. Thank you so much for this remind your timing is perfect. My bff was just saying this same thing to me. I worry so much so often aspecial about finances. Thanks again
    Have a bless day

  21. What a powerful song. Just what I needed this morning. Thank you Cyndi, for sharing your heart and this message!

  22. Thank you Cyndi. I am sharing this post with my niece. I think it’s just the right advice at the right time. Thank you.
