January is almost behind us and I’m thinking  about What To Wear on Valentine’s Day! It’s the perfect excuse to put on a cute outfit and go out to dinner.

I feel like I’ve been wearing a lot of neutral colors so I was excited to style this colorful long sleeve floral sweater from Lucky Brand. It’s soft and comfy but also unique. I like unique!

They’re not too slim and not too curvy, just right for everyday wear. I’m wearing a size 6 but they’re a little big so size down one size if you order them.

Beauty For the Heart~~Yesterday at church I taught from Matthew 5:1-12 which is called the Beatitudes (beatitude comes from the latin word, beatitudo which means blessed or happy).

This is early in Jesus’ ministry and he is sharing what it looks like to be a disciple. Over the next few days, I’m going to share one of the Beatitudes and what it means to us as believers.

“God blesses those who are poor and realize their need for him,  for the Kingdom of Heaven is theirs.” Matthew 5:3

In the first beatitude Jesus is saying we will be blessed if we realize our need for Him. Poor is not a physical state it’s a spiritual state.

This is a stark contrast from what the secular world tells us which is we don’t need anyone and to be independent. As believers we realize our need for a Savior.

Have a blessed day!

  1. Just ordered the sweater. So cute and you are so right about needing some color these days here in KY. So much rain and dreariness. Not complaining, I know we could be buried knee-deep in snow, but this girl needs some sunshine. Thanks for the link and the discount. It really helped make the sweater a good deal. Give your daughter hug for me. I too miscarried many, many years ago and found it comforting to know that God always has a plan and will see us through trials like this and make us stronger. It also helped me to know that many go through this and that I did nothing wrong to cause this to happen. Much love and prayers.

    1. How did you order this sweater, I can’t find it anywhere on Lucky Brand web site? I’d love it if you send the link, I’d too like to order it 🙂

      Thanks!!

  2. Cindy my fathers funeral is Saturday. I have borrowed a black classic a line dress with 3/4 sleeve sheer sleeves. Wondering what jewelry, stockings, and shoes to wear? I am 5’10.5 and curvy. I love the valentines outfit!

  3. Cute outfit and the first thing I noticed was your hair. Looks really nice (not that it doesn’t all the time). Bouncy curls – looks great on you.

  4. Your legs look awesome in those jeans with the heel…I think you are going backwards and look like your in your thirties! Such a pretty feminine top. Love love

  5. a cute look for Valentine’s Day. I love the chiffon detail and have decided I am not buying any other tops unless they have a neat detail like this. We get to a stage where we have basics and need to add these kind of fun pieces that resonate with our femininity.

  6. Cyndi, you are a beautiful lady inside and out and you have inspired me in so many ways! You look especially pretty in this outfit and I love your hair with the curl. I was wondering if you could give some tips on creating this hair style. Also, I was hoping you might share some tips on letting you hair grow out as I know you went through that stage and I’m trying to grow out a short hair style. Thanks for all you do to encourage others through your daily posts!

  7. I guess I’m a little frustrated for you Cyndi with all the comments lately, with people thinking they need to chime in with their opinions on your fashions and how you afford them etc. etc. I’m not understanding why they can’t understand its your job and you don’t buy all the clothes all the time etc. Please, people, let it go and let Cyndi use her blog like she’s gifted to do, without the negative vibe some of you give out. If you can’t afford some of the styles, you can shop your closet or shop for the same similar item cheaper, which is what Cyndi tells us ALL the time. I love the outfit on you Cyndi and it will be so great for a night out on Valentine’s Day. Love the style of the jeans also. 🙂 Thanks and bless you as always.

  8. I love the Beauty for the Heart today and am looking forward to your teaching the Beattitudes! Cindi, you look just gorgeous as always and yes, I say this time of year we could all use some cheerful color in our wardrobe! I love Valentines Day and the opportunity to show our affections to others. Most of all, I love that we receive a Valentine from God every time we open His love letter, the Bible!

  9. Keep up the great job love your blog all your fashion and bible verses it’s inspiring to me and lots of others.

    God bless you

  10. Cute outfit! I worked for a young preacher at a large church in the Delta before moving here & it was one of the most rewarding jobs I ever had. Not only was he super but the whole church was by the office a lot of the time & knew a lot of the people . He was from Kentucky . It really isn’t anyone’s business on the clothes thing I say. Just my two bits….LOL! I hope I am not offending anyone but really its not.

  11. So tough being a pastor’s wife sometime. People think that you should set the standard for dress in the church, but you should do so while I don’t like shopping at Goodwill. I remember when my dad, a pastor, was up for a cost-of-living raise , which he had not had for five years. One disgruntled Deacon commented “I thought pastors were supposed to live on Grace and stuff!” Also, many folks don’t realize that blogging is now a legitimate job, rather than a hobby… Hang in there Cyndi! LOL

    1. Aarrrgh! Autocorrect goof…That should say “ONLY shopping at Goodwill”. I’ve actually found some good bargains at Goodwill!

  12. I love the sweater also!

This particular beatitude resonates with me the most. Poor in spirit refers to our humility as you said. It’s our realization that we are dependent on God. In my daily life I try to find God in all things which means remaining humble in all my interactions. When someone acts ‘full of themselves’ I now recognize that and do not feel inferior; instead I realize they need to work on their humility!

  13. I just love your blog! I’m a 36 year young😉 pastor’s wife from Oklahoma. I daily look forward to your classy & cute fashion ideas, & especially the Scripture or inspiration you share! You’re a blessing!

  14. Just wondering are you doing something a little different with your hair? Curling, you have shown in the past some ways you style your hair. I enjoy getting hair tip ideas. I can not seem to master my hair. Just wondering.

    1. Hi Dee,
Thank you! Yes, I’m speaking in London, KY on March 30th, 6 to 7 pm at the Laurel County Public Library. It’s open to everyone.
      Blessings,
      cyndi

    1. Ha! I wore the sweater to my pedicure appointment so I could match it. I don’t typically wear red but with Valentine’s Day coming up, I thought it worked.
      Blessings,
      Cyndi

      1. Hi Cyndi…Not sure if I missed it somewhere the last week but have you shared the color of your nail polish…that is beautiful. Pink/french and clean looking

  15. Very cute pre-spring outfit and those jeans are very slimming on you.
Did you send out a post on Saturday? I didn’t get one so wondering if it was on my end?

  16. Your husband must pastor a huge church, because the clothes you post are great, but the prices on most are way out of my range. These jeans are over $100!!!!!

    1. Hi Denise, My husband does not pay for my clothes. This blog is my full time business and I either purchase my clothes or the companies I work with give me the clothes.

Lucky Brand gives me the money to purchase the clothes and pays me to write the post. I am always upfront about this with my readers. Again, this is my job.

I also share clothes at all different price points. Jeans are a staple piece in my wardrobe and I will pay more for a good pair of jeans because I wear them often.

Thanks so much for stopping by!!
      Blessings,
      Cyndi

  17. This is SO Pretty! and yes, some color is much needed – I have on gray and black as I’m typing this – which are staplese in my closet…NEED. MORE. COLOR.
Love the Beautitudes – thank you for the reminder.

  18. That chiffon layering on that sweater makes it very interesting, Cyndi. We must be on the same wavelength, because I just bought a shirt like that and am showcasing it on my blog on Friday!!
I like the idea of this for Valentine’s Day because it’s not obviously over the top Valentiney, yet very fresh for the occasion!!
