How To Make A Chest Rub with Essential Oils

I am going to share once a month about How I Use My Essential Oils. I recently found a recipe for a chest rub and I couldn’t wait to try it. This chest rub is safer than Vick’s vapor rub which contains turpentine. Ugh!

I am slowly replacing my medicine cabinet with essential oils. I’m amazed at how well essential oils work. I use them for everything!

How I Use My Essential OilsTo make my chest rub, I used two essential oils plus coconut oil. The essential oils I used are Eucalyptus Globulus and RC.

How I Use My Essential OilsRC is one of my favorite oils and it supports a healthy respiratory system. I am never without this blend, especially in the winter months. I apply it on my chest and feet to help support any respiratory things that come up. Love it!!

How I Use My Essential OilsEucalytus Globus is a new one for me but I am finding ways to use it including sore muscles after exercising.

First I melted coconut oil. (**NOTE**melt coconut oil on low until just melted so it’s warm, not hot.)

How I Use My Essential OilsAfter the coconut oil cooled, I added the oil to small containers. I used containers I had but you can order containers on Amazon, I like these tins.

How I Use My Essential OilsFor 1 ounce of coconut oil, I added 8 drops of RC and 4 drops of Eucalyptus Globulus. Let it solidify. That’s it! A healthy alternative to Vick’s Vapor rub.

If you’re interested in learning more about essential oils, my sister and I are doing an Oily Basics class this Thursday. We are hoping to do a live class and it won’t be on Facebook. Leave a comment below if you would like the information.

How I Use My Essential Oils

If you want to begin your oily journey, start here by purchasing a Premium Starter Kit. I will add you to our Private Facebook Group where we share all kinds of information on essential oils.

Beauty for the Heart~~“People need to know your heart before they hear your opinion.”

We’re so quick to say what we’re against and what we don’t like but truthfully people aren’t going to listen until they know our heart.

Believe me, I have opinions but some people may not know my heart so I’m careful what I say on social media. I want my life to reflect Christ!

Have a blessed day!

  3. I’m interested in the class as well. I bought the starter kit last summer, but I haven’t used it much. All the info is so overwhelming.

  4. Hi Cyndi, Look forward to opening your email everyday! Very interested in learning about essential oils so please count me in Thursday evening.

  5. I am very interested and would love to attend the class on Thursday. I have enjoyed your outfits and blogs and have gotten some great blouses and shoes that I would not have otherwise found – I shared your blog with my Mom and she is a big fan also! THANK YOU!!

  6. Cyndi,
Yes, I would be interested in knowing about how to use essential oils effectively and safely. For the past 2 weeks I’ve been fighting a terrible cold virus going around the Northeast. I have been using Vicks.
Hopefully won’t need the natural version soon, but would love to learn about essential oil based alternatives.
    Thank you!

  7. I’d like to be included since I do have the Starter Kit. I’ve used various oils and love the results.

    Maria

  8. I loved your recommendation on Monat. I would love to try the oils too! Please email me the information for the class. I love your blog Cyndi!!

  9. I already have the Young Living Essential Oils starter kit, but wold love to learn more about different ways to use them. Like you…I am trying to use oils in place of other medicines.

  10. Would love to hear about how you use essential oils. Am just beginning to “get on board”!! However, I’m not available Thursday night. Will the class be available at another time?
Please include me in the facebook group.
    Thanks!

  11. Please send an invite to me for your Thursday class. I use Doterra oils, but am also interested in learning about others.

  12. I would love to learn more recipies that you use for replacing things in the medicine cabinet and also how you store them. I have mine in a drawer but then I sometimes forget to use them. I would like to be a part of your Thurs. night group.

  13. Would love to watch your live presentation this Thursday evening but I won’t be available Thursday evening. Will you be recording it so I can watch at a later time? Also, I have subscribed to Young Living and have started using them, but would love to be a part of your EO Facebook Page.

  14. I would love to be in on the class since I have the starter kit and don’t know how to use it. Unfortunately I’m not available at that time:(

  16. Cyndi

I recently purchased a small kit of essential oils and would love to learn more. Please include me in for your online class Thursday.

  17. Hi Cyndi! I’ve been learning about essential oils and using them in our home for the last 2 years or so. One of the things I had read was that certain oils are not safe to be used around children. I thought eucalyptus was one of the ones that could pose a danger -actually causing breathing problems- but maybe its just one particular eucalyptus and the others are safe….Do you have any concerns about this chest rub being used with small children? Thanks!

  18. Hey Cyndi!! I’d love to get in on Thursday! We’re actually battling a cold right now. I’ve got oils going everywhere. I’d love to hear about how you two are using it.

  19. I also don’t care for the scent of lavender, but it has so many benefits that I use it anyway. EOs aren’t necessarily perfume scents!
I wanted to ask what would be a good combination of oils to treat a bad bruise. I know lavender and maybe some Frankincense, anything else you’d recommend?

  20. Thanks for doing a post on essential oils; hope you’ll do more. I want to be included in the Thursday evening class

  21. I just purchased some essential oils and would love to hear your class! I also noticed that you are going to Nashville with JoLynne. I am going to Nashville for the first time in late March. Wondering if you could suggest what to wear for a casual weekend getaway to Nashville. We plan to go the Grand Ole Opry, listen to some music, etc.
would love to hear your suggestions about what to do there and what to wear!

  22. Yes, I would LOVE a class on YL essential oils. Please sigh me up and keep passing on great oil information

  23. I am very interested in learning more about oils and their uses. Would appreciate some guidance, as I would much rather use GOD’S naturals than chemicals. Blessings to you………

  24. I would be interested in the class too, though like a couple of other women who have responded, I am very sensitive to scents and so I have not tried EOs. Also, in your class, will you be addressing how/why they work? So much of what I see just makes claims about what they help with but not how or why they work.

  25. Cyndi , So glad you are doing a once a month on YL oils , Thanks for the recipe for the chest rub , I just have to get the oils to make it . I hate I already have plans on Thursday but hopefully you will do another class. You are such a blessing to all of us ladies
    Thanks !!!!
    Diana

  26. Definitely would like to receive an invitation to the YL oils presentation. I have been using them for over a year & I was previously having several occurrences of bronchitis & eventually pneumonia way too often. I have not had more than a few allergy symptoms since beginning the use of oils, & these are relieved as soon as I begin the Breath Again, & diffuse RC. I would also like to learn about how you use the oils. Thanks again!

  27. Would love to know more on the oils. But won’t be home. Is there some way I can find this out some other way? Thank you

  28. Would love to be a part of the essential oils class! Just received my first kit from Young Living 2 weeks ago and am already enjoying it so much!

  29. Please count me in too for Thursday Cyndi! Thank you….You are always so gracious with your words 😉 I love to be around positive people too.

  30. Thanks for sharing about oils! For those of us who use DoTerra, which is also a great line of pure essential oils with their own blends that have interesting names, would you share what’s in oils you reference? For example what’s in R C ? If I knew what was in it perhaps I have those oil’s to make a blend of what you are recommending for a chest rub for cough. That’d be helpful! Thanks.

  31. I would LOVE to hear more about oils… especially how I can use them to help myself and my kiddos …. I’m not an expert on the computer… will it be hard for me to find where I need to go to “watch” …

  32. I am unable to join on Thursday due to song leader practice at church. I’m new to the YL oils. A friend of mine sent me a sample to try. I’m still applying it to my feet but it seemed to break my neck out. Is this normal? Does it usually settle down after using it for awhile? Thanks Cyndi! You are such an inspiration!

      1. I’m not sure. She put it in a roller ball. I assume she diluted it with olive oil due to the color. I will ask her. I use coconut oil on my face with no problems. I would like to see what it would do if diluted with that. Thanks Cyndi!😊

  33. I would love to be a part of the essential oils class. I too want to switch to healthier alternatives. Thank you for offering it.

    Heather

  34. I would be very interested on your online class Thursday, I am just getting started using the oils from Young Living, so far I am mostly diffusing . Would be interested to know how you store your oils so they are visible to you and easily assessable. I look so forward to your blog as a start for my day!

  35. I would love to attend the online class. I purchased the starter kit awhile back, but haven’t had achance to even open it to get started.

  36. I would like to learn more about using essential oils. Please include me in your online class.

I want to also thank you for your uplifting messages. I appreciate the time and sacrifice you make to visit with all of us each day.

  37. I would love to listen to your class! Please sign me up!

    Nancy

PS: To order the oils, is it still required to give out your SS#? It’s not safe to give out SS#’s and especially on-line. Just wondering.

    1. I am not Cyndi but I know YL just made a change regarding this. You could probably find more info on their website but you are not required to use your ss# anymore. Hope this helps. I am a fellow oil user. My 3 year old can frequently be heard saying, ” what is that mell” referring to oils I am either diffusing or have applied topically. I always say I need Jesus, coffee and essential oils 🙂

  38. My Thursday Night Bible Study just ended so I would love to see your essential oils class! Count me in please Joanna. I’ve also heard some of the oils assist in weight loss?? Do you know much about that?

  39. Please include me in your online class. I have been interested about using essential oils more but just don’t know where to bein!

  40. I am interested in your live class in Thursday. Thank you for doing this class. I have been to learn more about oils for a while.

  41. I have used peppermint oil for congestion. I didn’t really know how to use it, but I would put some on a handkerchief and pin it to my night gown to try to help me breathe better.

I am lucky that I get to see you at zumba class and may try to get free advice!!

    1. I’m just starting with essential oils and am very interested in the online class. I’m am so glad I found you and your blog.

  42. I’m allergic to scents or I would try them. It does sound promising.
Your beauty fir the heart “-People need to know your heart before they hear your opinion.”I’m not sure I understand your message. Would you explain that one more extensively?

    1. Joanna my point is people share so many opinions on social media such as their political views and what they are against or what they are for. It rarely ever changes anyone’s mind. But if we have face to face and heart to heart conversations, you might understand more clearly a person’s view.
I am not a fan of social media when it tears down or is offensive and I will not follow those people. I am all about using social media for good!

      1. I concur. That is why I have unplugged from most aspects of social media. There are always those with mean or senseless posts or tweets. I realized they were upsetting me and stopped reading. I don’t want that hate in MY life. A face to face conversation is always best, as people can see your expressions and hear the nuances that are not projected through online comments. Thank you for the thoughful messages at the end of your posts.

    2. Joanna, I am sensitive to chemical smells (sneezing & congestion while shopping in dept stores) but I use my essential oils all of the time without any issues. It’s the difference between natural scents and man-made scents. Full disclosure: I still can’t tolerate eucalyptus but that’s the only one I’ve found. Unless you are truly allergic (anaphylactic response where you need an epi-pen) I would encourage you to give the YL oils a ‘sniff’ and see what happens. 🙂

      1. Thank you for the feedback. It seems we have the same symptoms when exposed to strong scents in stores or homes. I’ll give them a try.

  43. Cyndi, I would love info on your online class about oils. I have seen lots of info on using them but have never tried any. My husband is very sensitive tofragrant smells so I have never tried them.

  44. Hi Cyndi! Love your blog and I am definitely interested in the class on Friday! Please send me information so I can tune in!

  45. Hi Cyndi ! I am interested in learning more about essential oils & would love to see your online class on Thursday. Thank you for all you do!!

  46. Hey Chndi I would love to know more about essential oils. I’m 48 and going through menapause. I take a low dose HRT so skeptical about doing both.

  47. Cyndi, my sweet daughter has been using essential oils for some time and gave everyone a lovely kit of personal care items at Christmas. The headache balm (looks like a tube of lip gloss) is amazing! I have to say when you first started talking about it on your blog I thought it was a little too good to be true but I was wrong! I am really liking what I see, hear and experience . I don’t like the smell of lavender (at all) and lavender is in so many mixes.. do you know of a substitute? I would really like to sit in on your oils program with your sister! .. PS keep on encouraging your daughter to blog, she has so many experiences to share and show that through God she has overcome and shines brightly!( also she is a doll.. 😀)

  48. I use a few oils in my diffuser or in roller ball form. Very interested in learning new ways to use them. I also have been stalking the young living website…may be time to pull trigger and order the kit. 🙂

  49. I am just starting with oils, too. Would love to be there for your class but have another commitment. Will it be able to be accessed afterwards? Thanks

  50. Hi Cyndi,

I recently purchased a Premium starter kit through your link. I have only used the lavender so far and I love it. I would like to see your live class, as I have no idea what to do with the other oils! Thanks!
