Casual Valentine’s Day Outfit

How was your weekend? We had a relaxed one but it went by way too fast! Doesn’t it always go by fast?

Wayne and I are headed out to eat tonight for Valentine’s Day (in case you missed it, I shared 5 Ways to Make Your Marriage Stronger yesterday).

I know it’s the day before but Mr. Spivey waited too late to get reservations for tomorrow so we are going tonight. We don’t always go out to dinner for Valentine’s Day but he surprised me with reservations to Ruth’s Chris so I’ll take it.

I wore this Casual Valentine’s Day Outfit on Saturday. I spent the day shopping for some house furniture, I tried to get a chair for my bedroom but I didn’t like what I purchased so it’s going back. Sigh.

My tunic is from Gap and it doesn’t have to be tied in the front but I thought it added a fun twist.

Let’s talk about my jeans. These are expensive jeans so let’s just get that out there. These came in my Trunk box and I had some credit so I didn’t pay full price.

I wasn’t going to put them on my blog because they are expensive but I wear them so much that I felt I should share them with you. Frayed hem jeans are everywhere this year and these will look great with sandals this spring and summer.

Denim is one of the pieces I will pay more for because I wear them often but if you don’t want to pay this much, I found some frayed hem jeans that are less expensive but have great reviews.

Thank you for taking time out of your day to stop by my blog. If you don’t want to miss a post, you can sign up to receive my daily emails and you’ll never miss a thing. I’m also on FacebookPinterest and my favorite one, Instagram.

Beauty for the Heart~~This morning during my devotion, this line caught my eye. “Thank you for making me desperate, even when I don’t want to be. Thank you that desperate circumstances make me more dependent on you and bring you the glory you deserve.” (Whitney Capps)

Isn’t that true?  The more desperate for a miracle, the more likely we are to run to Jesus. And the best part is He is always there. Ready and willing.

What miracle do you need today? A miracle in your marriage, your finances, your health, maybe it’s a prodigal child. Run to Him today.

Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. Isaiah 41:10

Have a blessed day!

  1. Love your outfit and how you tied the shirt. I’ll have to remember that. I love the frayed jeans. I bought the ones from Nordstrom you styled last Spring and love them. They’ve held up great and look great with sandals for Spring and Summer. In fact, wearing them tonight to my cousins basketball play off game. We celebrated Valentines Day all weekend with a weekend get away, so won’t do anything tonight for that. Alway enjoy your scripture you share…… I always see God more in my life in the desperate times. We all wish we didn’t have to have them, but HE allows them for our growth. Happy Valentine’s Day to you and your family. I’m sure you had a nice dinner out. Great Steak place.

  2. Love the casual outfit for Valentines. On the day to the dentist in the Delta & to see my Mom so casual it will be for me too. That tunic is really cute on you and love frayed jeans. Wore my Spring gauzey shirt that has embroidery down the sleeves to work yesterday . Several ladies picked it up after asking me where it was in the store. I think we all want spring early this year!

  3. Cute outfit! Is anyone else out there lukewarm on the front tuck (shirt) trend? I don’t get it. Maybe I’m showing my age but I think it’s rather silly – tuck or not tuck, either one. LOL PS Jeans are way too pricey; glad you got them cheaper. You always look nice, Cyndi.

  4. Cyndi , Hope you have a great date night , your husband picked a great place . I really like this outfit and I think the top tied in the front is super cute . I hate I am going to miss the oils class so I am hoping you will have another one somtime . Have a great evening !!!!

  5. You should never hesitate to style an expensive item. It is the outfit you put together that is an example of ” how to”. If not in someone’s budget, they can always buy a similar one at a lower price point. Please don’t feel any pressure. I don’t spend $200 on jeans but it doesn’t bother me in the least that you do. There! I had to get that out.
At first, I didn’t like the frayed hem jeans but having seen them styled I’m going to buy a pair. I think they would be especially cute with sandals.

  6. Oh & I forgot thank you for introducing me to all this great christian music! I have created a playlist from your selections on the blog that I play at home & in the car. Keep them coming please!

  7. I don’t like desperate circumstances but isn’t true that when we can’t do it on our own, that’s when we run to the Lord. We can never “do it” on our own but we think we can. I hate going through desperate circumstances but it is true….when I am going through them, I lean only on the Lord. And THAT is why He puts us through them. Thank you for sharing Whitney’s comment and Isaiah 41:10. I need it every day and sometimes I forget and try to handle it on my own. Have a great day and enjoy your dinner!!!

  8. Thank you so much for providing other price options for the jeans! That is awesome! Most of all thank you for being an inspiration to me through God’s word! You are a blessing!

  9. Thanks for a putting together such a great inspirational and fun fashion blog, would love to still be able to watch/listen to hear about the essential oils.
    Have a great day…

  10. I’m with you – there are some things I will pay more for and jeans are one of those things. I have a hard time finding ones I like and that fit well, and when I do they’re usually more expensive. Since I don’t wear them that often a good pair of jeans will last me a while – probably longer than the style does :).
Being desperate is not a good place to be, and yes, so thankful that HE is always there!

  11. I am new to your blog and I just love your outfits and the time you spend putting it all together. I especially love the Bible versus that you share. This one today … Isaiah 41:10 is one I read often. Thank you, Mary Lynn

  12. Cute casual outfit! But my eyes did go directly to the jeans, as they are a great fit on you. I can understand why you kept them but your right….they are pretty pricy. I found some similar and very reasonable at TJ Max.
Wayne picked one of our favorite places for special occasions for your dinner tonight. Enjoy and have a wonderful date night 💕

  13. This is a really cute outfit Cyndi! Good luck on finding the perfect chair for your bedroom. Enjoy dinner tonight.

    God bless!

  14. Those jeans came in my trunk too! I only sent them back b/c I have frayed hem jeans. They’re fantastic… soooo soft and comfy. You look adorable! Ruth’s Chris sounds AMAZING. Have fun!

  15. I have to admit that I do like this frayed hem style, Cyndi…even though I’m old! I feel like it’s a fun feature and not as “out there” as the distressed denim.
Besides it’s also functional when you’re short. If you have to shorten your jeans, then it’s an easier way to finish them off—ha ha!

    1. Love your comment! Being short and almost always having to have my jeans and pants tailored, I love the idea of frayed hemlines! Ha,ha,ha!
