Save vs. Splurge-Shoes, Handbags and Watch

These Save vs. Splurge posts are so much fun to make and it’s amazing how similar some of these items look to their designer counterparts.

I have noticed over the years some women want to save on items but there are many women who only buy the designer brands. Handbags are definitely one of the items women will spend more money on because they prefer real leather.

Here are some save vs. splurge items that I felt looked similar. I would never spend $1000 on shoes or handbags but I’m always shocked to see these items sell out, so somebody is buying them.

Beauty for the Heart~~“What you and I might rate as an absolute disaster, God may rate as a pimple-level problem that will pass. He views your life the way you view a movie after you’ve read the book.

When something bad happens, you feel the air sucked out of the theater. Everyone else gasps at the crisis on the screen. Not you. Why? You’ve read the book. You know how the good guy gets out of the tight spot.

God views your life with the same confidence. He’s not only read your story…he wrote it. ” -Max Lucado

  1. I must say I preferred the save on all of these except the Chloe bag and on that one it was because of the handles.

  2. I love your save vs. splurge posts! They are so fun. It’s strange, but I always like the more affordable choice anyway!

  3. so enjoy these comparisons and must wonder what besides a name and or logo is the drive behind the huuuuge difference.i can only imagine the chuckling that goes on while you are compiling these

  4. I love your comparison posts! And there are so many amazing wedges and sandals for summer this year! I can not imagine spending $1800 on shoes or a bag! But I appreciate the affordable pieces you posted and it is fun to look at the pricey ones too!

  5. You know, I have noticed that Marshall’s has started carrying even higher priced handbags. They are not as cheap as some of their others, but they do have a deep Marshall’s discount. I’ve seen Fossil, Michael Kors, and Patricia Nash there recently…and at significant discounts. So if some of your readers are looking for the expensive look and feel but at a cheaper price, that’s a great place to look!

  6. Fun post! Loved the Beauty for the Heart! Can anyone help, there was a post about the perfect white “no see thru” t shirt I think last Fall? Searched thru Archives and was unable to find. Does anyone remember the brand? Love your blog Cyndi!

  7. I love it when you post pricey v.s. bargain items. I read your posts everyday, and love to comparison shop the items you post. I would never spend $1,000 on shoes or a purse, and I receive compliments all the time on my bargain finds! I giggled when I saw the watches you posted today. I found one almost identical at Walmart yesterday for $7.88, and bought it in 2 colors..I own a Rolex, but seldom wear it, because I get more compliments on my cheapie watches..(go figure).

  8. Thanks for the research! The side to side comparison is an eye opener. I used to only carry designer bags like Tory Butch and just decided that was not a good use of my money to pay for her name on my bag?? So now I am off designers and interested in quality and/ or being economical if it is a trend. Your blog is SO helpful!! I have purchased a few items on your recommendation and now that I retired very early I need a different wardrobe so I look forward to your Spring recommendations!!

  9. Thank you Cyndi – love this post!! Appreciate all your hard work in putting this all together for us. I am one of those who goes with what looks good (to me 😉) but doesn’t cost the same as a child’s college education!!!! I know some people really care and love having the designer name brand, but that never has mattered at all to me – I always can find some more worthy cause for my $$$ so I could never justify the price tag!! Again, thanks for all you do!

  10. I love purses, and usually go the Kohls/ Target route. Or Craigslist for used (I have some classic Dooney and Burke & Coach bags I bought a few years back for fantastic prices from a lady clearing her closet at her garage sale so she could buy more!). I finally splurged on a beautiful Kate Spade purse at the last big sale. A bag originally selling for $398, I was able to buy it for $129! I absolutely love it. Sadly, I’m hooked. But I can wait till next year for prices up to 75% off.

  11. This is a great post, and thanks for all the work doing the comparisons! So looking forward to your Spring fashions. I also wanted to ask if you might consider doing a post sometime on travel tips (i.e. – do you take 5 bags so you have choices like some of us do! lol). It would be interesting to see how you plan and pack for a weekend trip for example.

Thank you for the inspiration today – always appreciate the Beauty from the Heart.

  12. I have the Sole Society Ivory Satchel and love it! I get so many compliments on this bag.
Thanks Cyndi for your efforts and hard work that goes into each blog!

  13. Cindi, Thank you for adding the price when rolling the cursor over the item photo. I think this is a new feature you’ve added and it’s very helpful to see the price first rather than clicking onto the store’s website to find the price! I love comparison shopping posts such as this one! I’m sure that takes a lot of time searching for copycat items! Thanks for doing the legwork for us!

  14. Steals vs. Splurge are so fun! I was in Target yesterday and they had some great “steals”. I’m always amazed by what’s on their website that’s not in stores. (Actually talked about it today on my blog…great minds) Looks like you girls had fun in Nashville. That city has my ❤️…and both of my kids😉. Happy Tuesday Cyndi!

  15. Thank you for this post. I know sometimes, you can hardly tell the difference between the real thing and the copy. I like to change my hand bags too often, so I will never pay the designer price tag, unless its on Sale! My daughter on the other hand prefers a quality bag, that’s real leather and loves Rebecca Mincoff, which we find at Nordstrom for about $300-$350 and she’ll wear it for about a year, so she gets her money’s worth. Or mine..lol

  16. This is a great post, Thanks Cyndi! I am really liking the cut outs on the shoes and the lower chunky heel will be great at work. Super excited for the spring series to start!

  17. I love the style of the Sole Society and Chloe bag. I found an even better deal on the same style, in gold, at Cato for $17! WooHoo! I love these kinds of posts also! Thank you!
