Off The Shoulder Tunic + White Jeans

Today is day of my 27 Days of Spring Fashion! Today I’m styling an off the shoulder tunic. Off the shoulder tops are quite popular this spring.

We are headed to the beach in May and I thought this would be a great top to wear on vacation. It’s lightweight and I love the floral print but it also comes in black and a light coral.

The back of the tunic has a half moon cutout. This tunic runs large so size down one size.

I added this necklace from Glamour Farms. This color is sold out but they do have white (use code graceandbeauty117 for $10 off ) and it would look cute too.

I purchased this Kate Spade bag when it was on sale and I linked a similar one. The BP brand at Nordstrom has a cute summer handbag here. It’s not leather but it’s really cute!

I personally like the off the shoulder look but I’m not crazy about the off the shoulders that are super low. Have you tried an off the shoulder top?

Beauty for the Heart~~This morning as I was doing my devotion, this sentence stood out to me. “Comparison will only steal our joy and rob us of who God intended us to be.” Krista Williams

It’s so easy to play the comparison game. If only I looked more like her, if only I was younger, if only I had a bigger house, if only my husband understood my feelings and the list could go on and on.

We can if only all day. But the truth is Satan is wanting to steal our joy when we start comparing ourselves to other people. Don’t go down that path. You are uniquely created by God and he doesn’t make mistakes. YOU be YOU and know you are loved by God.

But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8

Have a blessed day!

  1. Bless your heart Cyndi; I hope you had a warm coat waiting after you took the photos! As usual I appreciate your Beauty for the Heart message. You and Traci both are such encouragers and radiate the light of Jesus. While I love y’alls blog content of course what speaks to me as well is y’alls faith. There have been times that one of y’all has said just what I needed to here at the right time and not necessarily meaning to as in a Beauty for the Heart message. Sometimes it’s just when y’all are talking about life. The two of you definitely have a gift and you are very much appreciated.

  2. Beautiful look, Cyndi! For reference, what size in the top are you wearing? Would you have considered a petite in it?

  3. ok….LOVE the outfit but I have a horrible time with off the shoulder tops – lifting arms and just moving around pops the shoulders back up to your neck. This is why I prefer cold shoulder type tops. Would love to get your comments on practical wearing of off the shoulder tops

  4. Yes! I want to know too your bra situation with this type shirt and do the shoulders have to be adjusted often when you move around?

  5. Such a cute top on you. :). I wish I felt as confident as you with the off the shoulder or the cold shoulder styles. I’m 55 yrs old and just can’t see myself wearing either. You look great in both and look so youthful. 🙂 Still waiting for Spring weather here in Oregon. Looks promising next week. Wanting to wear my Spring clothes….many from your blog last Spring :).

  6. Cute outfit! However, do you ever wear a more straight leg jean, or at least slim rather than skinny? Some of us just can’t wear the skinny jeans and I would love to see some styling options.

  7. Cyndi, I am heading out to shop white ‘skinnys’ today! Mexico travel next week:) I am always trying to find a high waisted rise for comfort in any denim/pant. Please share in a coming blogpost some brands we can go to consistently for a muffin top fighter comfy fit! Mid-rise still is uncomfortable.

  8. Very well put together! I really like it but how do you keep the off shoulders from riding up? That’s why I shy away from this style top. Do you have to constantly adjust it?

  9. I love this outfit! I’m not crazy about the off the shoulders look either, but that shirt is lovely! Thank you for the reflection, it is so true!

  10. Love this outfit and thank you for bearing the cold to style it for us ( and you didn’t look cold at all).
Also thank you for reminding us not to compare our lives to others and just try to be happy with what we have.

  11. Love this outfit! Of course I had to have the shoes. Thank you for your devotional. It is so true. Have a wonderful day! It’s cold here in the Florida Panhandle!

  12. I think it’s an adorable outfit!!! I have some questions tho. 1/ does the shirt stay put, or are you always having to adjust it?? 2/ i am broad sholdered and a little on the busty side, so not sure if it wouldn’t make me look like a football player!!! LOL What do you think?? Thanks so much for the devotion today. I think many of us struggle with the comparison game in this culture for sure.

  13. I love this. You always look so beautiful. I love this look but was curious what kind of bra you like to wear under an off the shoulder top. I haven’t had s strapless bra since I was a teen because I have terrible memories of trying to keep it from sliding down. Do you have trouble with that?

    1. I was just going to ask the same thing Lorrie ! I love the outfit but am wary to wear a strapless bra as i find them uncomfortable and I’m always having to hoist (lol) it up!

  14. I love this beautiful blouse and the beautiful word from the heart for today!! This is something we all need a constant reminder of in this crazy world.
Thank you and God Bless You!

  15. Good morning Cyndi, I love the message today, I think we have
all struggled with that now and then!!
That outfit will be perfect for your trip. It’s another great selection
you have for us, thank you!! Have a blessed day!!

  16. You look so cute in this. I wouldn’t have even known you were freezing if you hadn’t said so. LOL. Tell your husband no fair – if you have to freeze he has to freeze. Ha ha. Just kidding.

  17. Gosh, I just love this outfit! I’m loving the off the shoulder style. I purchased one too late last summer but hope to add more. I’m on Spring Break this week and it’s so cold in the South. I’m still enjoying my break! Can’t wait to go to the beach myself in April. I’m constantly reminding myself to not compare myself to others…..loved hearing this.

    Have a wonderful day!

    Patricia

  18. Love your posts and your style. Just bought an Ots top but can’t find a good bra. Do you ever post business casual? I am always stumped on what to wear to work. Thanks for what you do….

  19. Cyndi < You have inspired me to try the OTS look at least once. Being in that" mature" crowd, I love seeing something I believe will feel dressy and elegant. And my hubby has always said I have great shoulders! Bless him!! 🙂 Great words in Beauty For The Heart.

Be blessed and be a blessing !!!

    Rochelle

(PS An OTS would be a real stretch today here in Iowa…it is only 12 degrees as I am typing this. LOL )

  20. Beautiful Cyndi!!! Your style is so exquisite and classy. I have the same question as Jodie. “Do you have any trouble with it popping back up your shoulders??” ~Lisa~

  21. I love this tunic and white jeans on you.

Could you please show a similar style for women who are more pear shaped…..Tunics are not always our friend….they can end at the widest part of our shape or do not always glide over the widest part and hang straight down.

  22. Another great outfit! And great Beauty for the Heart, I think we have all struggled with the comparison game at some point. And yet God created each person to be unique. I love this top with the white jeans, tempting!! Just not sure about OTS on me. You look fantastic!

  23. Oh if we could all just love the person that God created us to be. So often I too compare myself to others. I feel less than perfect and never quite measure up, but in our Sunday School class last Sunday, our teacher pointed out that we will not be taking any title, reward, position, money, fame with us when we enter His kingdom. We exit this life with nothing but His grace and love, just as we entered it. I see people all around me continue to grab for worldly things and fight and struggle to get some recognition. How sad, because if we just follow God, we will have the most important recognition we will ever need. His….💜

  24. This look is one of my favorites! I wear a great deal of OTS tops and I am looking for additional cute ones right now. I do find they are all cut so different, therefore I’m always having to exchange, I hope this look doesn’t go out of style any time soon, I love it! Have a great day!

  25. I just bought wedge sandals that look almost identicle to those you are wearing at TJMaxx last week. Love this outfit!

  26. Love the white jeans. I’ve been wondering about white legging. Can you show some ways to wear them or let me know if they’re just not in?

  27. Very pretty! I think this look is especially good for those of us who are “mature” since our shoulders age much more slowly than everything else seems to.

  28. I get caught up in the comparison game a lot – mostly about how I look in clothes and wishing I were thinner. I don’t really care about who has what but it’s more my body self-image. Thank you for the reminder that Christ loves us for who we are. Our body is His temple so I need to care for it and strive to be healthier but do it for the right reasons. No more comparison!! Starting today…….again! 🙂

  29. Thank you for your post Cyndi, Love your style and are making me clean out my closet to add new clothes to update my wardrobe. Blessings to you.

  30. Cyndi, thank you for your post! You always look beautiful. I too am over 50 and appreciate seeing looks that I can still wear and not look like I’m trying to be 20 again. Keep up the good work. I appreciate your loving heart. JESUS surely shines through you.
Blessings to you and your family

  31. I love this top Cyndi..Your Beauty of the Heart is wonderful..We find ourselves to often comparing ourselves to others.
    God bless you!

  32. Oh, I do love that tunic!

I just picked up an OtS shirt the other day (not a tunic, though) to wear with tailored pants. Love the longer length on yours.

My only reticence on these is they are are being shown EVERYWHERE….racks and racks at every store.

Hope it won’t be too overexposed too soon; I really love this look for the “mature” crowd.
