Beach Vacation-What to Pack

I have a beach vacation coming up soon so I’ve started thinking about what I want to wear. I take as little as possible on vacation because I never wear that much while we are there.

I stay in my bathing suit most of the time so a cute cover up is a must. A few cute tops, shorts and a couple of casual dresses and I’m good to go.

As much as I love heels, I usually wear flats on vacation. The nude flats below are comfort flats with a cushioned footbed so they will be great for vacation.

Many of my options are from Banana Republic and Gap because they are having a 40% off sale. So this is a good time to grab a couple of things if you have a beach vacation coming up.

Do you have any plans for vacation? Where is your favorite place to vacation?

Thank you for taking time out of your day to stop by my blog. I’m on FacebookPinterest and my favorite one, Instagram.

Beauty For the Heart~~When I hear Christians say, “I don’t do this, and I don’t do that, and I am following a set of rules,” I immediately recognize that they know very little about the grace of God. They are trying to live the Christian life in their own strength. But Paul says, “Be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.” ~ J. Vernon McGee

God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it. Ephesians 2:8-9

Have a blessed day!

  1. Is your capsule wardrobe the only items you are taking for five days? I usually take way too much when we go to the beach. Thanks for sharing this idea. Have fun and be safe.

    1. This was an idea of what i would like to take. It will be pretty close to this list. Except we usually try to snap pictures of some outfits when we travel so there’s that. 🙂

  2. Cute and practical too! I hope you have perfect beach weather. I joined the faster way to fat loss program you talked about. Hopefully by summertime I’ll feel confident enough to wear shorts and sleeveless tops!! I haven’t worn either in years and our summers can be hot!!

I’m actually going to Europe this year for the first time. I’m taking my mom on a classical music themed cruise up the Danube from Prague to Budapest and am at a loss as to what to wear. Between the wide temperature range and the suggestion of smart/dressy casual clothing combined with the fact that we will be doing a lot of walking, I’m at a loss.

  3. Adorable and inspiring! Thanks so much for the ideas!
Hope you have a wonderful and relaxing visit to the beach!!

  4. I love listening to Dr. McGee’s old sermons and as someone else said, they are timeless! Enjoy the getaway! It’s fun to read posts from ladies who live so close to a beach.

  5. Our home away from home is Kiawah Island, SC, a private gated and very small island, 1 mile by 10 miles, it is marvelous! I wear my bathing suit or workout clothes by day and dress up when we go out for dinner, maxi dresses in the warm weather and light sweaters and slacks in the winter. Have a wonderful trip and God bless!!

  6. Great picks! Thanks for the tips! I always need to stream line my suitcase. We are Disney people. With an only child, Disney has great options to keep her entertained and happy on vacation. Check into Disney’s Hilton Head Resort for your grandson. It is a fabulous family place!

  7. Cyndi, these are all cute options. My husband and I are planning a beach vacation this fall to celebrate our 35 th wedding anniversary. This post is perfect timing for me. Do you have any info on brands of bathing suits that have a little more structure and support to them. I don’t feel comfortable wearing some of the simple unlined suits anymore.

  8. I am headed to the beach at the end of May and like you, take very little with me. I have found in the past that most of what I’ve taken stays in the suitcase, so this year I’m even eliminating the suitcase and taking a large tote bag and my “hair and makeup” tote! I wear a swimsuit with a skort or water shorts, depending on what else will be happening that day. After a day at the beach I toss a tank top on in place of the suit, or change into a sundress. Shoes are flats for me too, better for walking, and a couple cover-ups. This year I’ve added garden/lawn pants, basically palazzo pants in a tile design. Cute with tank tops. For me, a beach vacation is all about the water and the sun, so I dress for where I’ll be spending the majority of my time. I have a high stress job and to sit seaside and just relax with a good book is my idea of a perfect vacation! Can’t wait! Have a wonderful time on your trip!

  9. Thanks, as always, for the tips! We have a “company” trip to Aruba coming up and I always pack too much (for any event!) . I always want options and to be prepared for anything! However, we do have two evening events which will require heels. I need to take a shoe suitcase! I love what you put together!

  10. I LOVE the beach, and when I lived in SC we went often – and usually to Hilton Head Island, or Edisto Island – most SC natives don’t go to Myrtle Beach because it is very touristy :). Now that I live in TN my beach trips aren’t as often, but when we go we love the 30A stretch of Florida – so BEAUTIFUL! I agree that I always pack far too many clothes so your list is a great one.
The beauty for the heart is beautiful today – not by works, but by His grace we are saved – Amen to that!

    1. Hi Becca!

I just read your message and it made me feel so sad. I too have self esteem issues and let me just tell you that God has created a most amazing scene for us at the beach and I’m sure He intends for you to view it if possible. We travel to the Florida panhandle several times a year and what I absolutely LOVE about the area is that there are people of ALL shapes, sizes, ages and colors there enjoying God’s amazing creation. Give it a try and hopefully you will see what I mean. It’s truly awe-inspiring!

  11. Great choices!! You will be cute and comfortable at all times. The Beach is the place to be for summertime! Have fun!

  12. Even though we only live 50 miles from the Jersey shore, my favorite vacation spot is a warmer place, Myrtle Beach where my whole family gathers every August. And I ALWAYS pack too much, I want options. I find I can do that since we drive, but if we were flying, it would be a whole different story! Enjoy your family beach time, hope to see a photo or two! Happy Easter!!

  13. These are super cute outfits! In my opinion, there is no place like the beach. Hope you have a wonderful time. 🙂

  14. great reminder to think and plan for the best results. your suggestions are great.

Particularly great beauty for the heart today. J>Vernon McGee’ teachings are as timely today as a few decades ago when he taught them. Of course he taught from the timely teachings of the Bible.

    Thank you

  15. All the outfits are perfect for a beach vacation. I like every one of them. We go to the beach in the fall and I start looking forward to it in early spring. Enjoy your family and make some memories.

  16. Thanks Cyndi great ideas me and my girls go every year to the beach and I always pack to much I pray y’all have fun we always do!!!

  17. I find beach vacations the hardest to dress for. You don’t want to be hot but you don’t want to look like you’re wearing your bathrobe all day! I find a couple of light dresses and throw them on like you suggest. I’m not one to show much skin (Irish heritage!) so these kind of vacations are not at the top of my list!

  18. I love your heart!!! I look forward to your outfits, but my favorite part of your blog is the little nuggets of truth in your Beauty from the Heart. Have a fantastic time at the beach.

  19. I love this post! I always take way too much on vacation and don’t wear half of it. We are going back to Hawaii for our 30th anniversary in January and I have already been thinking about what to take and how to pack light. You have hit the nail on the head! Thank you! Have a super day and enjoy your beach vacay!

  20. I wish I was headed to the beach soon. Beach vacations are the best!! Love all the outfit ideas Cyndi. 😎

  21. Thanks for the suggestions Cyndi! I am headed to the beach the end of April, I will definitely keep this post in mind. Dawn

  22. I wish someone (i.e. you 🙂 ) could teach me how to pack less for a 7 night cruise! I always feel like I pack my whole house, but with swimsuit/coverup, short set, and nicer dinner attire needed every day I just can’t figure out how to pack for that long and not take a million items. Any good suggestions?
