It’s official, winter is starting to wear on me.
It’s easy to start feeling down when most days are cold and the skies are dark and cloudy.
Sometimes we feel we’re in a pit!
Jeremiah the prophet understood being stuck in a pit.
Jeremiah 38:4-6 (Msg) says,
This man isn’t looking after the good of this people. He’s trying to ruin us!” King Zedekiah caved in: “If you say so. Go ahead, handle it your way. You’re too much for me.”
So they took Jeremiah and threw him into the cistern of Malkijah the king’s son that was in the courtyard of the palace guard. They lowered him down with ropes.
There wasn’t any water in the cistern, only mud. Jeremiah sank into the mud.
So what do we do when we’re in a pit?
1. Look Up!
I lift up my eyes to the mountains— where does my help come from? My help comes from the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth. Psalm 121:1-2
When life is hard and the winter seems to go on forever look to Christ.
Tell Him how you’re feeling.
Start to praise Him!
It’s cold………but I have a coat.
It’s dreary………..but the sun will shine.
The days are short……..but they’re getting longer. Yeah!
2. Look Down!
That’s right……..look where you are and realize it could be worse.
When I’m having one of those “woe is me days” I try to remind myself of this.
Whatever I’m going through it could be worse.
Find something positive!
I usually ask myself, “What can I learn from this pit“?
It’s easy to let the winter blues get the best of us but I’m choosing to Get Out of the Pit!!
this is a test
Thanks for helping me 🙂

Thanks Teresa! and thanks for stopping by.
This is spot on… and so simple: Look Up and then Look Down!
I can do this!
The mud. That’s just exactly right–that’s what it feels like to be in the pits.
Good advice as always, Cyndi! You’re wise beyond your years. (Of course you’re wise beyond your years–you’re SO YOUNG! 🙂
