Keeping My Priorities Straight

spring

Sometimes I wonder why I blog?

I question my sanity……..

I have met (in person) some of the most amazing women.

They truly inspire me.

Some of you I haven’t met but I’m always so glad you stop by and I appreciate each comment you leave.

Most of the time I love blogging.

Edie from Life in Grace blog says it best, “the internet can quickly suck you into a black hole where you’re left wondering where the last 2 hours went. I’ve said it before, the internet makes a great servant but a poor master.”

She’s right, the internet can take a tremendous amount of our time.

Time I could be spending with my husband.

Wayne and I are going to get away for a few days, without computers (he doesn’t blog but is on his laptop a lot too).

Sometimes we need to refocus, re-evaluate, and just relax.

I need that and so does my husband.

Ministry can be stressful.

We love ministering but sometimes to be our best we need some time away together.

So I’ll be gone for a few days but I’ll be back.

What about you, do you ever feel you spend too much time on the computer? Do you sometimes question why you blog?

Walking in His Grace,

Matthew 11:28-30 “Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” “Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. “For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”

  1. I don’t personally blog, but I find myself reading blogs and on the internet quite often (hours pass). In many things, we grow out of balance and tend to ignore our “spiritual traffic light.” God showed me recently (I love when He is so visual) that I need to follow and be attentive to my own “spiritual traffic light.” Sometimes I need to slow down and go with caution (yellow), and sometimes I just need to stop (red) because I am always going (green). I (you too) have no trouble going and as a matter of fact, I have no trouble pressing my personal accelerator to go faster and we all know what happens when we go too fast for our own safety. There is always a consequence…I challenge you to be attentive to your own “spiritual traffic light.”

  2. I don’t question why I blog, because, I BARELY blog. And I like it that way. I only blog when it comes easily and the rest of the time I just leave it alone.

I do, however, struggle with too much time on the computer. One thing that has helped is I recently switched to a reader. I know most people have been using readers forever, but I always preferred email subscribing. Which meant my inbox was always full of my favorite blogs and I wanted a nice, neat, empty inbox. Now that I have the reader I can scan things quickly and it has cut down *some* computer time.

  3. I wonder that all the time! I definitely spend too much time online, between working on my blog, reading all the other blogs I follow, & chatting with my blog friends on twitter…its CRAZY!! I need an intervention!! Hope you have a wonderful time with your hubby & enjoying your little getaway!!

  4. You bet I do! I questioned why I blog hard a month or so ago and decided to change the entire focus of my blog – no longer a review/giveaway/funny stories blog it is now a Christ-centered blog with the specific goal of showing others how God is working in my life.

  5. I usually save my blogging until the end of the night, when the kids are in bed. I often think I am spending too much time sitting in front of the computer. The Lord has been speaking to me about being a better manager of my time. Thankful you and hubby are “disconnecting” in order to reconnect. May you be refreshed in His presence.
