This Is Peaceful…..and I Needed it!

Yesterday after church we headed to my mother and father-in-laws.

They live an hour away from us and we don’t get to see them nearly enough

We had a wonderful afternoon!

They live on a farm about 10 miles from town.

It’s one of the most peaceful places I can think of and I feel I’m stepping back in time to a slower pace of life.

Wayne (my husband) is the youngest of three children and he was the “oops” child.

His brother was 18 yrs. old and his sister was 12 and along came Wayne!

Wayne always jokes and says “God was the only one that wanted me!”.

But that’s not really true his parents adore him!

As I was walking around their farm some verses kept coming to my mind…….

Be STILL and KNOW that I am God. Psalm 46:10

Peace I leave with you; My peace I give you…….John 14:27

This is my favorite picture. These are their chairs they sit in when the weather is warm. Nothing fancy just simple…..something I sometimes need to learn.

The best part of the day was I got to sit and talk to my mother-in-law for hours. She is such a Blessing!!

When we leave I’m always a little sad because I know we are headed home to a much busier life……

But I’m so thankful for a day to rest and relax.

Thank you Lord it’s just what I needed!!

Do you have a place that you can go to rest?? I’d love to hear about it!!

  1. I love quiet places too. Mine is in the chair in living room in the morning. It I’d especially nice with my Bible and the sunshine! I HAVE to have this quiet time! It is nice when you can get away from it all and go somewhere like you did to your inlaws. It is like that at my mother’s. I love to go there. Btw, my mother’s maiden name is Allen. I noticed your mother’s maiden name was Allen. We might be related! Gail

  2. We do need a refreshing place. Life gets so busy and crazy sometimes and it’s good to just slow down. We don’t get to do this enough!!
    Blessings friend!

  3. Cyndi,

I just adore the farm life. I grew up on a farm until we moved to Burgin when I was in the 2nd grade. I still remember all the fun times we had there. I am so happy Bro Wayne got to enjoy growing up in the country. It’s especially nice that his folks still live there, and both of you can have that special place of peace to visit often. I adore the pictures, and I love hearing your thoughts from the heart.I am thrilled that you, and your mother in law are so close. That is special. Thanks for sharing.

  4. What a beautiful and peaceful looking place. So green and lush! I don’t get many peaceful moments around here, unless I want to hide in the bathroom for a bit!

  5. I go to the beach, it is a place of restoration for me as I sit and listen to the waves crash in and out and I grasp the magnitude of the depth of LOVE our God has for us.

  6. What a wonderful day! And what a peaceful place!
    Moments like those are priceless.
My new home is pretty peaceful (if I could just get rid of 4 little boys!)
