This morning as I was busy with the laundry (why can’t I ever get caught up?)

I noticed it was raining outside.

I thought about the grass and trees and flowers soaking up the rain.

That rain provides so much needed nourishment for them.

The grass is greener and the flowers and trees grow bigger because of the rain.

What would happen if they didn’t soak up the rain?

The flowers and trees would wither and the grass would turn brown.

We too need nourishment and not just physical nourishment.

We need spiritual nourishment that can only be found in God’s word.

We need to be daily soaking up scripture so that we can

mature and become more and more like Christ.

I know I certainly need a daily dose of scripture!

I want to be able to claim Isaiah 40:31,

but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. 

They will soar on wings like eagles, they will run and not grow weary, 

they will walk and not be faint.

Praying today that you will soak up His word and renew your strength!
