Encouraging Words Wednesday and A Link Up

The last few weeks have been pretty crazy around here.

Colt Allen along with his mommy have kept me busy!

Of course I have loved it, but I have to admit I’m worn out.

Yesterday morning I woke up early to try and get started on

my to do list for the day.

I had several things I needed wanted to get done.

Around 7:30 a.m. my cell phone rang.

It was Courtney (not a surprise) and she sounded a little panicked

If you know Courtney that’s not unusual.

She’s a type A personality so too much dirty laundry

can send her panicking. {smile}

It was not Colt Allen that was the problem, it was their dog

June Carter (yes, she’s named after June Carter Cash) had

been sick during the night and they needed me to come and

take her to the veterinarian.

Here’s June Carter celebrating her birthday this past summer……

There goes my to do list!

I jumped in the shower and then headed to Court’s house.

When I got there I said “you’re killing me, I can’t get

anything done!”  Courtney apologized several times.

Chris (Daddy) had to go to work so that left Courtney

with a newborn baby and a sick dog.

Why did I say anything? I felt horrible!

Failure. As. A. Mom.

Lamentations 3:22-23 says,

“The faithful love of the Lord never ends!

His mercies never cease.

Great is his faithfulness;

his mercies begin afresh each morning.”

I’m so thankful for fresh starts, aren’t you?

What about you, do you ever have days that you

feel you failed as a Mom?

Let me encourage you, God knows and understands

and we can start fresh today. Thank you Lord!

Walking in His Grace,

Encouraging Words Wednesday Linky Party!

We all need encouragement so each Wednesday I’m having a linky party.

Hebrews 10:25b says, but encourage one another, especially now that the

day of his return is drawing near.

If you have a post on marriage, parenting, faith, or anything that will encourage us then join in!

All you have to do is enter the direct link from your post into the linky tool below!

Please add a link back to my blog in your post so others can join in,

and be courteous and visit some other blogs and leave them some comment love.

  1. Hey! I’m new to your blog and even though this is an old post I just wanted to say, “You’re an awesome mom!” My mom says stuff like that and just is kinda “direct” so it comes across harsh which drives my husband crazy. His mom eats sunshine and rainbows for breakfast I’m pretty sure. She is so positive and encouraging sometimes it’s too much—you wouldn’t think that would be possible but, it is! My mom tries (and fails) but, she kicks butt in the practical support department. One time when my first daughter was a baby she cried most of the night (of course my hub was out of town) and when I was at my breaking point and completely exhausted I called her at 4:30am and told her what was going on. She pretty much hung up on me (no sunshine or rainbows) and was at my house fully dressed and ready to go in 10 minutes (it’s usually 12 minutes just for the drive). And just this last week I was in town visiting and got sick…she took off work in the middle of the day and came home to take care of the girls. I was sooooo sick and she did it again the next day! She rocks and so do you. I love her and I’m sure she is way less tactful than you. Sometimes she offends me but, it’s no biggie. I’m sure your daughter quickly forgot your comment and now only remembers how you saved the day. 🙂 I feel silly commenting now a year later but, I just wanted to share in case someone needed this encouragement. Hopefully I can remember this too as my oldest is 2 and 1/2 (testing my patience by the moment) so, I am failing a lot lately. God Bless and I look forward to reading more of your blog!

  2. Oh, I have felt like a failure as a mom many, many times. Thank the Lord for fresh starts, as you said. Also, thank the Lord that He meets us where we are and doesn’t expect perfection!!!

  3. I know Cyndi. I have been in those same shoes a bunch of times—always saying the wrong thing. It seems like we sometimes say the most hurtful things to our very own loved ones. They are the last ones on earth that we would want to hurt, but yet they are often the first. Thank you for your words of wisdom! I’m so glad to have a Christian friend like you!
