This Is Why I Blog!

Good morning!! Let me just say that you all are absolutely precious! I feel we need a group hug! 🙂

I am blown away by all your comments on my Readers Survey (what? you haven’t taken it, click here!). You all made me laugh and cry! I’m so glad that you are enjoying my fashion posts but that you also feel Jesus still shines through on my blog. I had no idea that mixing Fashion and Jesus was a needed niche!

The one question I wished I had asked, is your age (would that have been rude?) But many of you seem to be glad that I’m ahem forty something and doing fashion posts. That gave me a great idea on a post I’m going to do in the future on “what not to wear” if your over 40. I can’t wait to share this with you~~it’s going to be fun!

I could not wait to share some of this information with my sweet hubby. I told him you all loved my fashion posts so I feel we were going to have to increase my clothing budget (yes we budget, EVERYTHING! My hubby is a Dave Ramsey wanna be). Um, he said, “No”. I don’t think he loves you all like I do! 🙂 Well that means I won’t be buying any JIMMY CHOO shoes anytime soon. I’m going to have to continue to shop at discount stores and work with what I have. I’m sure you understand!

Another thing I was surprised about is how “new” many of you are to my blog. I feel the need to share a little bit of why this blog is so special to me.

In 2009 my Mom asked my sister and I to read some blogs. We didn’t have any idea what she was talking about and didn’t immediately start reading them. Mom kept nudging us until we finally gave in and of course we were hooked!

We had no idea that in a few short months our precious Mom would be diagnosed with stage 4 gastric cancer and pass away on Sept. 22, 2009. Our whole world was rocked! I can’t even put into words what Mom meant to our whole family. She was and still is the most amazing women I have ever met and I miss her, I miss her so much that my heart still aches and tears well up in my eyes even as I write these words. I have so much I would love to tell her!

This was our last picture with our Mom. My daughter Courtney, Traci, Mom and me.

Traci and I both feel our blogs are a gift Mom left us. That’s why we’re both so passionate about our blogs. Our families, at times have thought we are crazy and we spend too much time on them, but to us they’re a piece of our Mom. When we read all your sweet comments, we feel Mom is smiling down on us saying, “See, I told you that you two would be blessed through your blogs.”

Many of you may not know that our Mom also started a blog. She titled it, Walking With The Lord. She started writing on July 6th, 2009 and her last post was written on July 31st, 2009. On August 6th she found out she had terminal cancer. Ironically she was literally walking with the Lord just a few months after starting her blog. If you would like to see a glimpse of our mother’s heart click here and read a few of her posts. She is why I continue to write and why I am passionate about growing closer to Jesus Christ.

Well, I hope you will continue to follow along with me on this journey! You have no idea how much you each mean to me. I read each comment and love, love, love hearing from you!

You are truly a blessing to me!

  1. Cyndi,

I just stumbled upon your blog through a Facebook friend and love it as I do your family. Your Mom was an amazing woman and such a godly example. I will never forget our trip to the Holy Land and Wanda’s infectious enthusiasm for the journey and our Lord!

So glad to have found Walking in Grace and Beauty!

  2. What a Unique & Sweet Story! I love how your Mom led you towards this unique ministry! Oh and I do think its great you blog about fashion & Jesus! I’m 32. Blessings this new year!

  3. Love your blog! I just turned 55! Is that possible! LOL But love all things Jesus, fashion and beauty! So glad to see that your blog covers all three!

  4. What a beautiful gift your mom left you, your sister and your daughter! You shine for the Lord with every word you write.

    P.S. – I am in the over 40 club, halfway to 50!

  5. I love your fashion posts! I have told my husband that I wanted to start a clothing idea for women over 40. We still want to be fashionable, but everything is geared toward teens and young twenty olds. I want to look fashionable and cute and not spend a fortune! So keep on keeping on! I love it!

  6. Cyndi,
I’m so glad you have continued to blog, just as your mother encouraged you to do. It’s been a real blessing and I always look forward to reading your blog (along with your sister’s.) I’m also 40-something and will celebrate my 20th wedding anniversary this month. I’m a stay-at-home mom to a wonderful 10-year old little boy, I’m active in our church and I LOVE fashion and decorating. Like you, I have one sister and we’re extremely close to each other, as well as to our beautiful mother. Thank you for sharing so much about your own mother and her story ~ I know she’d be so proud of you both. I wish you great success in this new year and pray God’s blessings upon you and your family! 🙂

  7. I read your blog and I am 57 years old and have been married 38 years. I love reading your blog and I think I read your sisters yesterday (wasn’t it a ‘tear jerker’?) I am pretty sure it was hers.
Would be interested in your makeup line and your skin care… I personally use a ‘homemade soap’ for my face and a body wash in the shower. Would be interested in other ‘healthy good choices’ for sensitive skin. I also have six beautiful grand children.

  8. I filled out your survey yesterday and I’m in my 40’s and starting a new career! I love to see your fashion posts as you dress so beautifully and modestly! I would also love any tips on keeping oneself looking young like you do:) What kind of makeup and skin care products do you use? Also, do you use microdermabrasion or facial peels? I’m thinking about it as the crow lines are getting bigger (yikes!).

One thing that wasn’t on your survey about blogging is frequency. I’m an avid blog reader (including you and your sister’s blogs!) and I have noticed that the first blogs I read every day are the blogs I know will post everyday. If a blogger skips days, it seems that I also skip those blogs. I don’t have as much time to read blogs so I limit my reading those that post the most – just thought I’d share.

  9. Cyndi I love your why. I love that your mom knew her girls so well and gave you this gift! What a blessing!

May this be the best year yet for you here, in this place!
