Simply Sunday~~Walk as Children of Light

Hey friends!

This morning I’m teaching about walking in the light (life with Christ) verses walking in the darkness (life without Christ). Ephesians 5:8 says, For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light.

I want to walk as children of light, don’t you? I want my life to reflect the light of His righteousness, His love and His grace! I can’t do that without consistently spending time in His word.

Every time I teach about being in the light, a song comes to my mind. It’s a blast from my past! I love Christian music and grew up with Amy Grant, Michael W. Smith and Steven Curtis Chapman.

I also loved DC Talk! I don’t know if you all know them but they were popular in the 90s and my kids and I use to crank this song up really loud (my now grown kids are going to kill me).

In case you’ve never heard it, here’s the song. Have a wonderful Sunday 🙂

  1. Thanks for stopping by Allie! I love Amy Grant too! and I spent about an hour on you tube the other night listening to some of her past songs. Loved it!

  2. Amy Grant was one of the first Christian artists I was introduced to when I got saved. Along with her, I would listen to Sandi Patti and DC Talk!!! Flashes from the past for sure!

  3. I loved all those you mentioned! Spent a lot of Springs at Ichthus! My youth group even really got into Petra! I remember when it was just a dream of mine to have a Contemporary Christian Radio Station to listen, too. We have no idea how blessed we are these days.

  4. Oh, yes, I was definitely a Christian music listener in the 90’s. I loved those songs and sometimes I forget how ‘old’ they’ve become. I am a complete ‘groupie’ of Amy Grant, was and still am. I consider her one of my Christian contemporaries and ‘role model’. In fact, I did a lot of Christian singing myself in the 90’s, worship group at church and was in a band for a while.

Besides every Amy Grant song, I think probably my most favorite, most moving Christian song from the 90’s (it might’ve even been the 80’s, I’m so old) is Steve Camp’s “He’s All You Need”. In fact, I sang it a few times myself and it moves me so much I can barely get through it without crying.

    Thanks for this post today.
