3 Things I’m Implementing Into My Lifestyle

Sunday market in Paris: all organic food

I was thinking this morning about all the New Year’s resolutions people made on January 1st. By now many of them have already been broken.

That’s why I don’t do it!

I didn’t begin the year with resolutions but a few weeks into January I started looking at what I was eating and drinking (diet coke) and I decided to take some baby steps.

I’m not having any huge health problems. I recently had blood work, a physical, mammogram etc. and everything was fine. But I still want to do better!

Here are 3 things I’m trying to implement into my lifestyle:

  • I’m drinking more water and I quit drinking diet coke, cold turkey. I have wanted to stop drinking diet coke mainly because of the artificial sweetener but kept putting it off. I quit several weeks ago and to be honest I don’t miss it. I do drink coffee, a girl’s gotta have some caffeine, but the rest of the time I drink water.
  • I’m looking at labels and checking the ingredients and I’m buying organic when I can. I’m amazed at how much stuff they put in our food. Things I can’t even pronounce! Of course, I say that and I haven’t been to the grocery in two weeks! It is my least favorite thing to do in the world (a little bit of an exaggeration).  Must. go. to. the. grocery!
  • Exercise, rrrgh! I struggle with exercise. I want to do it but I always find things I feel are more important. Several years ago I went to jazzercise regularly and I felt so much better! I’m not going to give up on this! Baby steps right?

Okay, this is where I am. I’m going to continue to try and improve my overall health. It’s important for any age woman and we need to encourage each other.

I’m looking for blogs that encourage healthy living and have easy (emphasis on easy) healthy recipes. I have found some but I would love to read some more.

What blogs have you found that have healthy recipes, healthy living, exercises etc.? I’d love to hear from you!!

Lastly, I wanted to share some pictures of Colt Allen with you. He’s 5 months old today and he has stolen my heart!

He’s found his tongue and look at all those little rolls on his tummy. We call him chunky monkey.

Those eyes!

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

  1. I gave up sodas about 5 yrs. ago and I don’t miss them either. I’ve gotten very addicted to water! Carry a water bottle with me most of the time. I’ve always been a veggie girl, but I’ve discovered I have some inflammation in my system. So I’ve started taking a tablespoon of raw apple cider vinegar daily. I’ve been doing it for about 6 weeks, and my skin issues are looking better. I’ve also given up wheat, as it’s one cause for inflammation. These are the new things I’m working on lately. Also, black cohosh really helps me w/ the hot flashes. I’ve been taking it for about 4 years.

  2. Your grand baby is precious! I too have a grandson that is 5 months old! He makes me so happy I can’t explain it! Talking about being healthy now I too have been drinking more water, I am allergic to artificial sweeteners but do get a bit tired of water from time to time. I put lemon in it sometimes, a nice change… Have a great evening!

  3. That little boy is toooo adorable!!! I’ve been trying to walk more on the treadmill, but it’s difficult to find the time. I usually do about 20 minutes, and then start thinking about all of the things that I need to do.

  4. I am trying to do better also! I have an Elliptical, and I use it more than I thought I would, but still not as often as I should! 🙂 A friend recently introduced me to a website called Heavenly Homemakers! It’s great! Lots of recipes and tips for healthy cooking! I am actually making my own homemade chicken broth right now, and it smells so good! I am so excited! haha! Baby steps for me too!

  5. That’s so great!!! I gave up diet coke cold turkey as well, and like you I do not miss it!!!! And yes I do have my coffee….I’m giving it a go with the water, it’s hard, I don’t know about you but I can drink water right after a workout, and at night for whatever reason when I’m about to go to bed, I can have a bottle without a problem, (maybe cuz I’m starving?)!!!! hahaha! Good luck though :o)

  6. Judy Jazzercise and I have been working out together for years! 🙂 When we’re overseas, I have the vidoes! 🙂

  7. I am trying to drink more water. I normally get so bored with water, but I know I need it so my goal is to drink at least four 20oz bottles a day. It may sound silly, but I have found that I drink more water if it is room temperature than if it is cold. So I have started leaving half the water bottles out of the ice box, still have to but some in for hubby though. It just seems to ‘go down’ easier maybe? I don’t know why. lol. I would love to eat organic, but it can be so expensive. I do try to limit prepackaged foods though.
