I Think I’m Having A Midlife Crisis!

Happy Hump Day! I hope you’re have a good week.

It’s been interesting here.

It all started with Pinterest. Oh Pinterest, you can be dangerous for us ladies!

I was looking for eyeglasses, outfits, and haircuts.

I found this cute haircut, well I thought it was cute and I even thought the pop of color was cute on her.

Well, it just so happened I had a hair appointment yesterday and I showed Kelly (my hairstylist) the picture.

I told her I thought I’d like a pop of color in my hair.

You see where this story is going, don’t you?

We decided to pop some color in my hair. We didn’t do red but we did do blond.

Let’s just say I had a weak moment. I’m calling it a mid life crisis! Sorry for the bad picture quality. I took it with my iphone but it doesn’t usually take such bad pictures. Maybe it doesn’t like my hair color!

Thankfully, it can be fixed! I’m going to give it a couple of days.

So be honest, what do you think? You won’t hurt my feelings, unless you say it’s the ugliest thing you’ve ever seen. That might hurt a little.

Beauty For the Heart~~Love this verse in Psalm 3:3. The Lord is our glory ladies!

But you, O LORD, are a shield around me; you are my glory, the one who holds my head high.

Have a blessed day!

  1. I think your hair looks great with a pop of color. Trendy and young! I love your blog and love for the Lord.

  2. Oohh, I love it! It looks great on you!! Don’t get rid of it. Give it a week or two to see if it grows on you. I find the color often changes/blends a bits given a few days. Again, I say KEEP it! 🙂

  3. It is brave of you to try it, I have never done my hair ever. I have been blessed with fine, thinish hair and at times I wanted to PERM it, hairdressers won’t do it. At times I thought ‘oh a bit of red’ I won’t let myself cave. I am 57 and a bit of grey is peaking out and actually it is OK. I earned every one of them.

  4. Cyndi,
I think it looks great, both the cut and the color! I’m 52 now and just started coloring and growing my hair last year (redhead now!). I’m also much more interested in fashion and makeup than before, so I guess I’m doing the mid-life crisis thing too. I just don’t want to look frumpy yet…
I love your website, keep the color and have fun!

  5. I think your hair color looks great! I totally understand about the mid-life crises you are finding yourself in. I will turn 46 in July. My husband will turn 40 in July. My daughter will get married in June and my son will graduate high school. Ugh. Maybe I should get a streak of purple next time I color my hair!

  6. I think you look great. It makes me want to put a pop of color in mine. Wait, my hair is blonde. What’s a girl to do?
I think you should keep it. You only live once and if you hate it that bad, well, it will grow out. Besides, it’s what’s on the inside that counts. Right?! 😉

  7. Let me just say that you should do what you love and do what makes YOU feel good. Never hurts to try it and see if you like it…it’s easily changed.

I’m trying to find my own style and not think about what other people think of it. I started going grey at 21 (“widows peak”)….I’m tired of dying my hair every 2 weeks. I’m trying to muster up the courage to grow it out….I’m only in my 30’s. I’m still debating.

  8. You look beautiful….I don’t think you could have a bad hair day…lol. That being said, I think you would look awesome with Auburn lowlights instead of the blonde. Your skin tone and hair color seem that they would be enhanced by the red. BUT its what you like that matters…live with it a few days and see how you feel about it. I’ve always gone with blonde or caramel highlights, but the last few years I’ve gone with the auburn lowlights and have loved it ever since. I’m 52 so I know how you feel! I’ve always had shorter hair and now I’m growing it out..I love it. Who says women of a certain age shouldn’t have long hair…lol.

  9. Cyndi…first let me say I’m new to your website! Love it. I too am addicted to pinterest and love hopping around to all of the different sites it leads to. Now, the hair….I think it looks great! I’m just the opposite though…I have medium dark hair with alot of golden highlights so I you would say I am a blonde. I love dark hair though. But I’ve had the blonde for so long that when I have tried coloring over the blonde and leaving it all dark…I can’t stand it!!! I get those highlights right back in there! Change is hard sometimes so give it a few days. But if you’re not happy with it (and your opinion is what matters most!) then change it back. And don’t get too caught up in the mid-life crisis thing. I will turn 51 next month and although the number sounds old to me, I don’t feel it. I am so thankful for that! At this point in my life, I’m gonna do what makes me happy!

  10. I don’t normally comment, but i had to today. I honestly think it looks great!
I wish i was brave enough to do something like that! heck even take out the darn ponytail!!

  11. I like it – give it a few days to “grow” on you and then see how you feel. I have really blond hair and this past summer when all the young girls (and some not so young) were doing the feathers, I wanted a brown one sooooo bad!!! I wasn’t brave enough to do it – I’m glad you are:)

  12. Personally, I love it! I also think you would look really great with the pop of red!!
I have been having a quarter of life crisis haha! I don’t want to move past 25. I just don’t. We are having babies and before I know it I will be 30… which is still SO YOUNG… I just want to stay 25.
Cyndi you are beautiful and have such a great sense of style without going over the top.

  13. Hi Katie
That’s what I was trying to do, have some fun! It’s just hair. I can always change it back. But you’re right I think I might like highlights all over.
    Have a great day!
    Cyndi

  14. Hey Karen
Yep! It was out of character for me. My skin is changing too, expecially on my neck. It’s all good though. Thankful for each day God gives me.
    Have a wonderful day!
    Cyndi

  15. Thank you Traci! It’s hard to believe we’re in our 40’s. Seems like we were just at Foley Middle school. I was just trying to have some fun and I can always change it back.
    Love you!
    Cyndi

  16. awwww Cyndi! I so admire your bravery and your pinterest inspiration. I totally admire this post, because it sounds all too familiar. I honestly don’t think it looks bad. Go girl!

  17. I like it! I have darker hair like you, and the first time I got highlights, I thought they were too blond (you know, Marilyn Monroe blond–and not in a good way). When you have darker hair it seems like such a shock. Give it some time and I think it will grow on you. Have a little fun with your hair!

  18. My hair stylist would say that the color gives your hair “movement”. (That’s a compliment!) I think you will get used to the difference and like it too, but if not, it’s just hair. Your inner beauty shines through just fine.

  19. Hi Cyndi, I really like the blonde. You have such pretty hair, nothing would look bad! Enjoy it!! I have to be honest though, I think I’m in a midlife crisis too!! lol

  20. I don’t think it looks bad, but it was probably out of character for you and that’s why it freaked some people……. I do think women start to have a crisis as they begin to age. Women change their hair and clothes and starting doing crazy things to their faces. I just turned 45 and all of a sudden WHAM ~ serious wrinkles are starting and I noticed my the skin on my face and neck are easier to pull and don’t start me on the greys that are getting seriously hard to keep covered. I have the same hair color as you. I DO NOT like it one bit, but I am embracing it the best I can. I am a granny now and I don’t need to look like I am 20. It seems that everything teaches us to be of this world and not in it. Sometimes I think I am finished with tv and magazines because I just can’t measure up to these women that don’t age. I always laugh when I think about God telling man to enjoy the wife of his youth because he knew those lines and bags would start showing up. lol
Your beauty…it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight. 1 Peter 3:3-4

  21. Cyndi, I totally understand about “mid-life issues”, I too have had them. Your hair color looks beautiful!!! Change sometimes is good and makes us feel better and that we are still alive. You’d be beautiful know matter what hair color you had, (even green) haha. Love it, own it and have fun with it. We only have this one life, live a little. We’ll have to do other things when we get older, why not have a little fun now 🙂
