Simply Sunday~I Belong To Him

Several years ago on a Sunday morning I was introduced to a visitor in our church by a friend of mine.

She excitedly brought the visitor to me and said, “I want you to meet Carol, she’s divorced like you Cyndi.”  Smack!

I didn’t know what to say.  To me, it was as if she said, “Carol, meet Cyndi, you have lots in common, you’re both sinners!”

It’s true, I am a sinner, but I guess it’s not the way I want to be introduced.

There are days I need to be reminded that I am His and no matter what, I belong to Him.

Song of Solomon 6:3 says, I am my beloved’s and my beloved is mine.

Lately, I’ve been drawn to the song by Jason Gray called Remind Me Who I Am.

Every time I hear it, I turn it up real loud and sing at the top of my lungs. Thankfully no one else is in the car with me!

On days I feel more like a sinner than a sinner saved by grace this song reminds me that I belong to Him.

Here are the lyrics:

When I lose my way,
And I forget my name
Remind me who I am
In the mirror all I see
Is who I don’t wanna be
Remind me who I am

In the loneliest places
When I can’t remember what grace is

(Chorus)
Tell me, once again who I am to You, who I am to You
Tell me, lest I forget Who I am to You, that I belong to You, to You

When my heart is like a stone,
And I’m running far from home
Remind me who I am
When I can’t receive Your love
Afraid I’ll never be enough
Remind me who I am

If I’m Your beloved
Can You help me believe it

Chorus

I’m the one You love
I’m the one You love
That will be enough
I’m the one You love

Do you need to be reminded today that you are His beloved and you belong to Him!

Have a wonderful Sunday friends~~

  1. Susan I think Satan wants to remind us of our past mistakes and sins. He’ll do whatever he can to make us feel “not good enough”. Glad you held your tongue:-)
    Can’t wait to see you!

  2. Cyndi, I have often struggled with the divorce in my background, but recently God showed me that we are not under the law (as in Number 5, OT law) but we are under Grace. Jesus has paid for our sins, and when we don’t forgive ourselves we make light of his sacrifice, as if it wasn’t enough. We are all sinners, and thank goodness for his incredible grace, because it sure isn’t our works that save us! Love your blog!

  3. Cyndi, Thanks for sharing. People can be so weird sometimes. I was performing with our church’s singing group a few weeks ago. We were at a church I attended as a child. One of the members of the congregation said, “Oh. You were that rebellious teenager. Your mom asked us to pray for you all the time.” I wanted to reply, “Yes. And you’re that pesky gossip who had no friends. Looks like you put on a few pounds …” But I held my tongue;)

  4. Cyndi, I’ve stumbled upon your blog through the Be Still retreat site. I absolutely love this song— it resonated deep in my spirit when I first heard it. How easily we forget whose we are! Blessings to you today 🙂

  5. Cyndi, thanks so much for that reminder. I didn’t know that song but really needed to hear it and so appreciate it. Yes, thank you Jesus for Your Grace!

  6. Cyndi…I LOVE that song! I do the same thing…crank it up and sing to the Lord! I think we Christians need that reminder once in awhile that we are Beloved. Thank You Jesus for that Grace.

  7. Thank you for the reminder! I love the song. I had not heard it before. After church this morning, I will get on ITunes and try to add it to my iPod. Are there other songs by Jason Gray you would recommend?
