Three Tips For Glowing Skin This Summer

Good morning friends!

Summer is in full swing and it’s going to get HOT here this week. Summer brings lots of outdoor fun, but sun, heat, and chlorine from the pool can wreak havoc on our skin.

We obviously show more of our skin in the summer with sleeveless and short sleeve shirts, capris, shorts, sundresses etc. So let’s make sure we take care of our skin and help it look its best!

Here are three quick tips to help your skin glow this summer.

1. Exfoliate Your Face and Body

It’s important to exfoliate your skin. Your body sheds skin cells at an amazing rate every minute of every day. If you don’t get rid of them, they’ll just sit on your skin making it look dull and dry. Yuck! No matter how much lotion you use, you’re never going to have glowing skin if you don’t exfoliate.

I looove Mary Kay’s Microdermabrasion set. I use it 2 to 3 times a week on my face to get rid of those dead skin cells.

There are lots of exfoliating body washes to choose from but Olay Total Effects Body Wash Exfoliate and Replenish gets great reviews.

2. Hydrate Your Skin With A Summer Scented Lotion

It’s time to pack away your thick winter body butters for a more light summery lotion. Look for something that is light and fast absorbing. I personally love the coconut or mango scented lotions for summer. Nothing spells summer more than a light refreshing fruity lotion. Make sure you apply right after you dry off from your shower. You need to seal in the moisture your body just soaked in.

Bath and Body Works has lots of great scents to choose from!

3. Get a Safe Summer Glow

You have so many choices when it comes to adding a little summer tint to your skin, and the tanning bed shouldn’t be one of them (don’t even get me started on tanning beds!) Using a sunless tanner will give your skin a beautiful summer glow. You get the summer glow without the damage from the sun. Perfect!

Jergens natural glow is inexpensive and works great!

Also, don’t forget to use your sunscreen! Suncreen helps to protect your skin from sunburn, early skin aging, and skin cancer.

Do you have any favorite products you use during the summer months?

Beauty For the Heart~~I talk a lot about things that can help your physical appearance here on my blog but the most important way to have a healthy glow is starting with the inside.

A relationship with Christ is where true beauty is found. I love this quote, “Joy is the best makeup.”  And we can only get that kind of joy with Jesus.

John 15:11 says, I have told you these things so that you will be filled with my joy. Yes, your joy will overflow!

Praying your Joy will be overflowing today!

  1. I have never been a tanner however last summer I was out in the sun a lot and loved how good my legs looked with a tan. Self tanning is really the best way to go because a huge part of aging is sun related. It just takes a bit of extra time to exfoliate and keep up the self tanning applications… but so worth it! 🙂

  2. Preach it, sister, about the tanning beds! Melanoma is a terrible disease and I fear between the sun and the tanning beds we are going to lose many from our generation. I am so fair most self tanners look bad on me but I just bought some Fake Bake which I’ve heard good things about. Fingers crossed.

  3. Great tips, Cyndi! I love Jergens natural glow… it’s not fake or too much, just the right touch of glow 🙂

    blessings!

  4. Thx for the tips Cyndi 🙂 Love the thought you shared that joy is the best makeup… so true! Just stocked up on Bath&Body Works and their huge summer sale…. luckily, I don’t have to use a tanner for a “glow”. My husband always teases me that I just have to THINK about the sun or going outside and I tan– haha! I do spend lots of hours tho’ with the little ones at the park or pool and crawling around weeding our garden and taking care of our yard. So yes, I’m as brown as can be! Just need to remember that sunscreen tho’! 🙂 Have a wonderful day! lots of love!!!
